Deleting Records From A LstBox And Dat File And Setting Reminders To Date In Dat File
Aug 2, 2010I am creating a program that allows a person to enter details about their farm, stock, and machinery in order to electronically keep track of all of the information. I have created the forms and done all the coding for the data entry, and now what I would like to do is allow the user to delete a single record from the .dat file. I am able to delete it from the LstBox (using a "Delete Entry" btn coded simply with
lstvehicles.Items.RemoveAt(lstvehicles.SelectedIndex)
(using the vehicles section for examples)), but I am unsure of how to delete it from the .dat file as well, to prevent it reloading upon data change / program reload. Also I would like to be able to have a reminder come up on the program start up that gives a reminder to (in the vehicles instance)when a vehicles rego is due, the date being associated to a date that is entered into the same lstbox data using a datetimepicker.

May 30, 2011in my visual basic 2008 express edition project I have 2 forms (paxreportfrm,paxsearchfrm).I want to give inputs in paxreportfrm and save the record(which is working fine).then in paxsearchfrm i want to search depending on multiple criteria (working ok).when i click on the record which is in gridview in the search form,opens up the paxreportfrm again with all the details of that specific record (working fine). Now i want to update the existing record which has been populated from the gridviw of the paxsearchfrm and also want to have the option to delete the record.I am using the datacontrols(wizard) to make connection with the access2007 database.can someone give me some example of how to do the Edit and delete in the database pls.I already have a save button on the paxreportfrm(if i click on that, after changing the details on existing record, it just saves IT as a new record).so i really need something which will actually save the modifications on the existing record AND ALSO WILL BE ABLE TO DELETE IT FROM THE database. I have tried couple of methods but none of them are working.

Deleting Records In Sql?
Jun 6, 2011I have created a form called new users, I have added my data source, draged over the objects I want from the dataset onto the form and all is well appart from the fact that I cant delete records.
To add them I simply click the add button, put in my info and then click the little disk button to update the dataset.This does not work for the delete button though, instead I get the following error

Apr 25, 2011I can't figure out whats the best code for deleting a record from the database using combobox in VB.Net. the navigation of my combobox works fine.. when i click the dropdownlist of my combobox and select another name, the selected row on my grid also displays records the same as what is seen in my navigation boxes.... but the problem is when i am going to delete the records.

The selected row on my grid is the records that i am going to delete.
Here is the photo after clicking the delete button. It delete the entire selected rows except the selected column Name, instead the first row column "Name" record is deleted and the second row column "Name" replace to it.

What i want to do is to insert the records selected by my datagridview checkboxcolumn and IF POSSIBLE automatically delete a record if the records to be inserted are equal to the records inside the database. (Hoping you got what I want to say.) For example. I have an A,B,C(child) that is under XXX(parent) in my database and I'll be inserting the A,B(child) again but it will be under YYY(parent). I made a form that when you put your CustomerID in Text3 Box.. it access the records and make some calculations. now.. The customer will return the car.. Then his data should be deleted.. I want to know how to make that when I enter the CustomerID and press on the Command button .. It copies the other lines to a new output folder and doesn't copy these ... So it appears to be deleted using this way..
