Jun 6, 2011I have created a form called new users, I have added my data source, draged over the objects I want from the dataset onto the form and all is well appart from the fact that I cant delete records.
To add them I simply click the add button, put in my info and then click the little disk button to update the dataset.This does not work for the delete button though, instead I get the following error

Apr 25, 2011I can't figure out whats the best code for deleting a record from the database using combobox in VB.Net. the navigation of my combobox works fine.. when i click the dropdownlist of my combobox and select another name, the selected row on my grid also displays records the same as what is seen in my navigation boxes.... but the problem is when i am going to delete the records.

The selected row on my grid is the records that i am going to delete.
Here is the photo after clicking the delete button. It delete the entire selected rows except the selected column Name, instead the first row column "Name" record is deleted and the second row column "Name" replace to it.

What i want to do is to insert the records selected by my datagridview checkboxcolumn and IF POSSIBLE automatically delete a record if the records to be inserted are equal to the records inside the database. (Hoping you got what I want to say.) For example. I have an A,B,C(child) that is under XXX(parent) in my database and I'll be inserting the A,B(child) again but it will be under YYY(parent). Right now it doesn't look like it does anything. I have tried changing my index's on my subitems to 1 and 3 instead of 0 and 2 but i figured because they are subitems that they need to be subitem index 0 and subitem index 2 since there is one item and three subitems to that one item.

So where am I messing up? I keep getting errors no work done but when I close the form2 and open it back up no DB items show up in the Listview. But I close my project, and open it back up and they're back. All while never changing in the DB.

Jun 14, 2008I need help on improving the performance of a program I wrote some time back. This is the main performance issue of the program below. Basically I need to look through some data that is displayed to a user in a list view and determine if the data is a duplicate of any other data in the list. If it is I need to delete the duplicate before my program continues.The below code does the job just fine, however the list view of data has approximately 30,000 rows of data. Hence looping this list 30,000 to the power 30,000 times makes the program very slow. Note subItem(4) in the data is the "unique" identifier that I later discovered was not so unique....
This was a work around function implemented in the code back when I wrote it (not meant to be permanent). I know that listView is not Ideal to store this much data.how to store the data in a more efficient manner or improve the performance of the Search and Delete [code].....

May 14, 2012I have an ini File which I use as an "index" of jar files. The Jars are declared in it like:
Name of the jar=c:Path
So when my application starts, the ini file gets loaded in a list view. I have a delete button, with which I want to delete the jars from the list view and the ini file. It must be possible to delete multi choiced jar references. so I thought to do it with for each, so that every selected item get searched in the ini and deleted. The Error is, that the String (is correct, I tested it with a messagebox) get analysed - Unknown escape sequence R (The error is between the ** **)

Aug 2, 2010I am creating a program that allows a person to enter details about their farm, stock, and machinery in order to electronically keep track of all of the information. I have created the forms and done all the coding for the data entry, and now what I would like to do is allow the user to delete a single record from the .dat file. I am able to delete it from the LstBox (using a "Delete Entry" btn coded simply with

(using the vehicles section for examples)), but I am unsure of how to delete it from the .dat file as well, to prevent it reloading upon data change / program reload. Also I would like to be able to have a reminder come up on the program start up that gives a reminder to (in the vehicles instance)when a vehicles rego is due, the date being associated to a date that is entered into the same lstbox data using a datetimepicker.
