exporting a datagrid to Excel for the last few days. I have found quite a few, mostly done through C and the ones I have found using VB have not worked out. Would anyone have a link to a good tutorial online for exporting a datagrid using vb.net? My college project is approaching its deadline quick enough.
This code works well however when data is exported to excel in one field some values are wrong. Instead for example populating 16-12-19 it populates 43815, 01-03-99 it populates 36220. Again, if the sort code is like 20-72-68 or 60-01-22 it is populated the same way, which is correct. If the value is a date lookalike then this problem appears, but if not then the exact value as displayed on the grid is shown in excel.
I inserted the code (highlighted in red) to set all the fields as text values. Right, it is exported and when excel spreadsheet is opened the field property is text, but the problem still exists. Why doesn't excel display it as it is displayed on the datagrid and database, instead of changing it even when set text.
I am working with Vb.net and this code below works fine. However, when I review the data exported to excel I have a problem with one particular field i.e., sort code. Sort code in the database is in the format 00-00-00. Therefore if it is 12-11-09 or 11-01-66, a look alike of a valid date it is disaplyed as 12/11/2009 and 11/01/1966 in excel after the export. Excel thinks its a date which is incorrect. I expect it to show 12-11-09 and 11-01-66.

I need some easy/basic way to export DataGrid to Excel file and also to be able later to Import this file back to DataGrid. Nothing complicated its simple table with values amount of columns won't change.

I have a datagrid on a silverlight 4 application that I am trying to export to excel by calling the COM component for Excel in silverlight. It keeps error-ing out and tells me that the functionality is not supported. I can't quite figure out what is wrong and believe my code is solid, obviously not though.[code]

I'm using the 2008 express edition. Now, I created an application that will allow the user to choose transaction in the combobox.text and input its price and quantity using an textbox.text. When the user click button1, it will be push in the datagrid/datable I created. And when the user click the button2, it must be save to excel file. The only thing I need is how to save the data from datagrid/datatable to excel. This is my code.

I'm trying to upgrade an Excel VBA workbook to a VSTO Excel Add-in in VB.NET using VS 2010. In the original (i.e.- VBA) version I have a modeless UserForm (called frmMain) that floats on top and is visible at all times while the user is still within the Excel application, but is not visible if the user moves to another window outside of Excel.
For example, within Excel the user can click on any worksheet tab, select any cell, etc. and the UserForm is still visible. This is exactly how I'd like it. The problem is, that in the new VSTO add-in, I can not get the Windows form to mimic this same behavior. I use frmMain.Show() to show the form as a modeless form, but the moment the user clicks an Excel worksheet (i.e.- activates a worksheet) the form becomes hidden behind the worksheet.
I think I fried my brain. Something so easy and I can't figure it out. I have a windows form with a datagrid and a dataset and some textboxes.I have a button that populates the textboxes with the selected row from the datadrid. That works. The user then makes changes to those text boxes. Now I would like to update the dataset with those new values and can not figure it out.If you could please give me some sample code,
I am exporting data from vb.net to excel and it is dropping the leading zero when its displayed on excel. How can I avoid the dropping of leading zero? I read the solution of adding a single quote but it makes my excel sheet column ugly. Also users will complain if they see a single quote on zip code field.vb.net code
adding a single quote or manipulating excel sheet with column formatter (general/numbers ) etc. I don't want user to make any changes on excel to get the display properly when the excel is displayed from web page it should be all set with proper formatting. also we have no control over client excel software?
I'm trying to export a datagridview to Excel and open the Excel spreadsheet (not SAVE the worksheet).
Public Sub ExcelRpt(ByVal DgvName As GridView, ByVal url As String) Dim xlApp As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook Dim xlWorkSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet
I have an asp:table which I want to exported to excel. One of my fields are alpha numeric and when exported to excel the leading 0s are stripped off. After going through this thread: Validation (CSS 2.0): 'mso-number-format' is not a known CSS property name I would like to use the css method "mso-number-format:@;.But the css is not exported to excel. I just tried to test it with simpler css things like bold font etc but its not getting carried over. I can see that if I surround my asp:Label with tags this change gets carried over to the excel but not the css bold . Other solutions in other thread does not work for me as ="00111" shows up as desired in excel but in the web form it shows up as ="00111" which is not what i want.
I need to export Chart(image) and grid (tabular) row data into excel file. I can not use automation because Office tools are not installed in my server. I've found a bunch of free/proprietary tools like:
Can anyone tell me how to add a Excel like form to a Windows form so I can add and remove rows/colloms and do simple calculation. It would be nice to have tabs along the top.
I am converting several VBA projects to Windows form applications. The only problem I have is that some of the functionality of Excel is essential to the application, such as R1C1 formulas. I do not want to instantiate the Excel application or access saved worksheets. All of the data is retrieved by querying Oracle databases. 2-Dimensional arrays are not an option because the columns contain differing datatypes, and DataGridViews are too slow to work with.
I thought simply dimming a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet object would be enough, but the program kept failing and upon inspecting the object's elements in debug mode, I found that every value says this:
{"Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.WorksheetClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D8-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
I have seen C# code for doing this but was wondering if anybody had some sample vb code.
I have dealt with excel before but usually read/write by creating an instance of excel rather than within the form itself. To do this am i going to have to write to a datagrid instead?
I have a datagrid called datagrid1, which is populated with two coumns with headers name pat_eid and event_date. E.g.., of a Layout of the datagrid is as follows
I'm populated my datagridview with data from my database - directly coded to update. I now want to export this data to excel or .csv file. I have found out how to export it from a dataset but not a datagrid. How can I populate a DataSet from my DataGrid? [code]
I have set up my connection to SQL Database. Public Sub ConnectToSql() Dim conn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection ' TODO: Modify the connection string and include any ' additional required properties for your database. [Code] ..... How can I export specific columns from datagrid to specific SQL Table (and match up the columns (column names in datagrid are different to Column Names in SQL Table).
I can show an excel workbook using a WebBrowser component but that only works if excel is installed on the target computer.Any other ways to display an excel sheet ? Just a viewer. No need to edit, scroll or tab between sheets. There's a lots of OCX components out there that do this but anyone know of a .net component ?Or any way to achieve it without needing Excel to be installed.
I have two, soon to be many spreadsheet files. There are cell references between the files which need to be updated. I would write this in a excel macro but these spreadsheets are design tables for Solidworks, a CAD system and it does not allow macro enabled workbooks. So what I would like to do is push a button and open all of the spreadsheets, accept the update workbook prompt then save and close the files.
I've seen a similar command developed by someone using the Soildworks API but updating design tables in solidworks takes ALOT of time to run compared to just opening and closing spreadsheets.I am using Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 along with Excel 2010 Beta 2 (I like to have the new things)
I'm looking to get the following code converted to working VB.NET code. I need to export data from a datagrid into the CSV format that the user can save off, and the code below from David in Dakota would work great, but it's in C#. This is for a Silverlight 4 site we're working on.
