If you have a separately declared PUBLIC INTERFACE and then IMPLEMENT that INTERFACE.
1) My general question: Is an INTERFACE simply a means to ensure that a CLASS implements all the methods defined in an interface and to ensure that they can only be implemented once?
I have noticed that a method that IMPLEMENTS an INTERFACE method can still have overloads though. :-)
If so, when combined with INHERITANCE though I believe I can finally see the use for defining an INTERFACE!!
2) Do you have to use an interface when linking to a VB6 project ( is this via Component Object Model or COM ) and if so, do any attibutes need to be applied when doing so?
Here is a code snippet.
creating a PUBLIC INTERFACE outside of any CLASS. I guess this would not normally be done from an OOP point of view?
Public Class ExampleClass
Implements MyActions
Implements Whatever

IsNot Nothing is very common, but it's a double negative =o I'd like to use Exists instead. Is there someway I can add a keyword to my VB vocab?For now, I wrote an extension that adds _Exists() as a property to each object. I use this frequently, but I'd still prefer an actual keyword.
<HideModuleName()>
Public Module CustomExtensions
''' <summary>
[code]....
I use Visual Studio 2010 exclusively, so if I could trick VS into converting my custom phraseology into the standard syntax, that'd work for me.

The object is to load an image into a picturebox, then save a new copy of the image in a different location, but with the height and width of the image box not the original file's height and width but I can't figure it out. I've got the loading and saving working no problem but getting it to adopt the new size is stumping me, it just keeps saving with the original file's size properties

I have my own class of graphic objects, and now I'd like to allow a user to right-click on one of those within the application and see a properties window. Is there a pre-built dialog or control for displaying properties at runtime? I'd like to have something just like the IDE properties window button for my application.

I am working on a media player, and I would like to setup a local playlist feature. I am using a single ListBox and its "Display-" and "Value-Member" properties. The display is the song's Artist and Name, and the value is the song's file path (i.e 'C:UsersUSERMusicetc.').To write the file path to the .txt file, I believe I can use the following code:[code]

I have a datagrid that has a DataNavigateUrlFormatString that passes info on to the next page when the user clicks on the link. However I am trying to add some functionality to the next page and want to add some data to the url that is not in the bound columns. Is there a way to do this? Right now it looks like
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="~/cakes/PaymentHistory.aspx?id={0}"
and I would like it to look like
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="~/Taxes/PaymentHistory.aspx?id={0}&year="

adding the properties of a control to its parent? Without having to rewrite all the properties... For example, if I have an user control with a button inside, and I want to have the "text align" property of the button, in the list of properties of the usercontrol. If not, is there a way of making the child control of an usercontrol editable?

I created this custom listbox, and I want to change the border of the focus rectangle, so I made up this property:
vb.net
Private H_BorderColor As Pen = Pens.Black
Public Shadows Property HighlightedBorderColor() As Pen
[Code]....
But when I'm at the designer tab that property is editable, I attached a screen shot of the properties box.

I'm still new in VB.net development environment, i've few of the question may need the advice from you guys to see whether i'm in the right track for the development as below condition:Basically my program wrote from this logics:
Condition:
2 log files available in C drive that is C:/BSKYB/Prod.txt
and C:/BSKYB_CWE/many of log files in .txt format
Program Flow:
Step 1: The program will read the last sentence Hexa number from the file "Prod.txt"
Step 2: Once the program detecting the keyword like example "abcde" it will go to another folder which is descript in C:/BSKYB_CWE to look at which text files contains the keyword "abcde"
Step 3: this step will capture the whole line the text info like example 1111 abcde
if in this case, once the abcde detected what is the command i should apply to capture the key word 1111 ?
This is the problem i have encounter right now, i doesn't know how is actually can apply the right method to read the whole text line once the key word is detected
Public Class Form1
' Const ConstBSKYB = "C:BSKYB_CWE.txt "
'Const ConstBSKYBP = "C:BSKYBProd.txt"[code].....

I have a class that represents the table of a db-row. Its properties are the columns of the table. I add a new row to the table with the following code:
Public Sub AddRow(oTestRow As TestRow)
Dim sql As String
With oTestRow
[Code]....
That is just an example, but my classes have around 30-40 properties and this brings a very large and complex sql string. Creating, editing or maintaining these sql strings for many classes could generate errors. I am wondering if any compact way or method exists in order to add the whole object's istance (the properties of course) to the table "TestTable" without writing such a large sql string. I created the TestRow in the way that its properties are exactly the columns of the table "TestTable" (with the same name). But I did not found in the ADO.NET anything that could be used.

I have an enum that I want to give some methods. I thought about changing the enum to a structure so I could add properties, but then the enum is a value inside the structure (not the structure itself), so this would affect comparisons and such. (For example, instead of writing
EnumVariable=EnumConstant,
Now it is
StructureVariable.EnumValue=EnumConstant).
At least, this is my understanding of it. It seems awkward to have to do this for such a simple scenario, so is it possible give enums properties, yet still have them treated as before? I've thought maybe I need to create a new valuetype from scratch, but I've never done that before.

Dim oApp As New Excel.Application
Dim oWB As Excel.Workbook = oApp.Workbooks.Add()
Dim oWS As Excel.Worksheet = CType(oWB.Worksheets(1), Excel.Worksheet)
Dim style As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Style
style = oWB.Styles.Add("Style1")

Is there any way to add new properties to a control? For example, I'm using an "OvalShape" from Microsoft's Powerpacks, these are designated as "Cells". I would like to add properties to the class itself (if I had a physical class to edit) for different processes such as "energy level", "family number", "mutation", etc. General variables that are either Boolean, Integers, or etc. If there isn't a way to edit the powerpack class itself, is there a way I can use the ovalshape power pack in my own class and add extra properties to it myself?

I want to search a text file (*.txt extension) for a certain keyword or a part of it. And then let the found item be displayed in a listbox or something else. Now the more difficult part, how can I display the word in front of that found word ?
Example:
I search for VBFORUMS in a file called test.txt
I find this:
VBFORUMS
but in front of that is this:
IDS_IDS_TXT_008912VBFORUMS
How can I then display the IDS_IDS_TXT_008912 on a label ?

I think that we can specify or import our properties that we wish to use in the project in the .vbproj file of our project.
And.. if so, how will I use these in my VB source code... ?
I want to keep the table names, connection strings, etc in the properties file.

I am trying to implement image caching for a web application and I found some code on the Internet that implements an HttpHandler that does this. The code was in C# and since my web app is written in VB, I decided to convert the code to VB. I managed to convert everything except the following code (in bold):
public class FileExtensionCollection : ConfigurationElementCollection
{
public override ConfigurationElementCollectionType CollectionType
{
[CODE]...
From what I can understand, the two properties above provide a way to access the FileExtension collection either using an integer or a string index. My problem is that I do not know how to convert this in VB.

I'm using the SaveFileDialog to save listbox info into a text file. The files save fine, but when you go to save the file, if you hit the cancel button, it will overwrite the previous file you saved, because it's name was the same and it seems to save the previous file as the new name for your next file. Is there any way to catch if the user clicks cancel, and then exiting the sub if they did?
