Feb 3, 2011

how can I filter my datagrid view by letter..for example: if I write "m" in a textbox, every row begin with "m" appears, then I write "moh",so every row begin wiz it appears...I found a lot of methods related to dataset and binding source...but in fact I don't need such those methods... Just wanna filter it without any relation between database...(because I'm using webservice vb.net+eclipse java+access as database,so my db is related to eclipse not to vb.net)..

BindingSource.Filter By First Letter?

May 10, 2009

I've been researching it, but can't seem to find any relevent info. I'm trying to filter my BindingSource by first letter in a certain field, in this case, the title field. I can't seem to come up with the correct syntax for constructing the string. The scenario is thus.here is a dropdown combobox with a collection of items such as '0 - 9', 'A', 'B', etc...My filter so far looks like this, at least for the letters, probably have to chain one for the numbers...

Filling Table In DataSet And Filter Information

Apr 6, 2009

When I use a command such as:
Me
.TableAdapter.Fill(Me.SomeDataSet.Table)

I am going out to the database, gathering the requested information and filling the dataset. Therefore, everytime I add a query to a table adapter, it is also going to the database to get the information. So, my question is, how do I fill a table in a data set with all the records in the database table and then, filter the information I've already collected in the dataset without going back out to the database again?

Select Column With Filter Criteria Within A Row In A .Net DataSet?

Jul 27, 2011

I'm writing an app for someone where I am pulling in work orders table information. The information includes: worknum, fname, lname, customername, description, etc. I do not plan to update the data in this table, only to read from it.I'd like to display a combo box for the work order numbers. The user would start typing the information for the work order in and it would autocomplete based on what's in the list. As work orders are displayed in the combo box, I want to update the data in text boxes representing the various fields.

I'm thinking rather than query the database several times, it would be a good idea to create a DataSet with information for the work orders table within the last x months then query the data from that dataset. I know there is a DataSet.Select method, but it looks like it returns the entire row. Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values? For example, I'd like to do a select statement similar to this:

SELECT worknum FROM {WorkOrderDataSet} WHERE date >'{today-x}

The first part in curly brackets is meant to represent the work order dataset I create when first importing the data from Access. The second part in curly brackets will be replaced with variable data to represent a date to reference. I also don't think I'll need distinct because the workorder is unique (edit: is a primary key)Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values from a DataSet with multiple columns? How do I do this?

Dbl Click Datagridview Row After Filter?

Apr 6, 2011

I have it so when the form loads I can double click and the row and bring up the form to edit that row. This works. but if I run a filter on it and then double click it doesn't bring up the selected row but the first row of the grid as if I never had a filter on it. I have 1000 rows, I run the search to filter it and find 5 rows. I click on the last row and it brings up the data from row one of the 1000 rows. Always the top row. Does this have something to do with the bindingsource not having the correct index?
