I'm trying to create a Report. In my Solution I have a form with Report Viewer in it, a RDLC file and a DataSet. When I run the solution the report is populate OK no errors. I would like the User to be able to filter the DataSet so only the required data will populate the report. My DataSet contains the following columns Customer, Address, Orders. I have tried the following code but the Report is not filtered nor I get any errors.

I have a WPF ListView that I am trying to filter within a BackgroundWorker. My code is shown below:

This code runs through the filtering however it fails with an error "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." on the following line:
ListView.Filter = New Predicate(Of Object)(AddressOf Me.FindItemsAsync)
What would be the problem here? I can't seem to find any samples with filtering through the BackgroundWorker.
I am using the following code to filter on a textbox value using the BindingSource.Filter function.I thought this was the right code based on my many searches.
BindingSource1.Filter = "ValueID = '%" & ValueToFilter.Text & "%'"
When do a debug, it shows the correct value which is "432360ac-ac35-4101-8d46-f2cbd5b5dc52.There are spaces in the end of this value and it is exactly the same in the SQL database with the spaces. ValueID is a column in my SQL server. It does not filter the records in my dataset.I tried replacing the ValueToFilter.Text with my actual value as shown above including the space at the end and it filters the records just fine exactly as I want it to. Although I obviously need it to work for multiple values from my SQL server.

Using VS 2008 and creating a style sheet in the Studio I noticed that when I wrote the word filter, it was not recognised by intellisence. Is there a bug in VS 2008? status.bat launches script to check license availbilty on the server and write it to report.txt ... by launching just wpis_v3.bat it works . report is generated with all information about licenses . But when I launch from VB icon - report file is generate but is total empty . I observed that with any bat which contains >> VB doesn't write into file. Is there other way to acchive it ? I would like that VB will show only specific lines from this report.txt - which contain string : "Site" and other "Client" .

I am going out to the database, gathering the requested information and filling the dataset. Therefore, everytime I add a query to a table adapter, it is also going to the database to get the information. So, my question is, how do I fill a table in a data set with all the records in the database table and then, filter the information I've already collected in the dataset without going back out to the database again?
The following code works (rows are filtered by the select expression), but then all the controls in the datarepeater are empty. When set to .DefaultView all records return and all controls have their values.

I'm writing an app for someone where I am pulling in work orders table information. The information includes: worknum, fname, lname, customername, description, etc. I do not plan to update the data in this table, only to read from it.I'd like to display a combo box for the work order numbers. The user would start typing the information for the work order in and it would autocomplete based on what's in the list. As work orders are displayed in the combo box, I want to update the data in text boxes representing the various fields.
I'm thinking rather than query the database several times, it would be a good idea to create a DataSet with information for the work orders table within the last x months then query the data from that dataset. I know there is a DataSet.Select method, but it looks like it returns the entire row. Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values? For example, I'd like to do a select statement similar to this:
SELECT worknum FROM {WorkOrderDataSet} WHERE date >'{today-x}
The first part in curly brackets is meant to represent the work order dataset I create when first importing the data from Access. The second part in curly brackets will be replaced with variable data to represent a date to reference. I also don't think I'll need distinct because the workorder is unique (edit: is a primary key)Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values from a DataSet with multiple columns? I have all the text base rowfilters working, but I can not make the date filter work unless I hard code the datetime into the code. The database is MS Access and I am using VB2008 to show the data. The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.
