View 1 RepliesI'm creating a reporting application, and our customers are going to need to generate some pretty big reports which require quite a bit of memory. Ive been in a re-factoring mood lately, so I was wondering what the best way to access the properties of another open form would be(The reporting viewer opens in a new form.) So far I have:

*Edit - I should probably mention that what I need is a label, two date time pickers, 5 datagridviews and a few datasets. Those cotrols have the info I use for my parameters

View 1 RepliesI have a form containing two panels. In both panels there are two labels and textboxes. I set the 'Center In Form' property of the labels and textboxes to 'Horizontally' and 'Vertically' in design time respectively. But as the form is resizable, when the size of the form is increased or decreased at runtime the controls are no longer center aligned in the panels. How can I handle this problem (provided the main form needs to remain sizable)?

Well from the module, there's a part where I have to update controls on the form1. Whenever I try doing it, it updates the value, but not the design. For example I write a delegate which makes label1.text = "111", while debugging, label1.text becomes 111, but it does not show it updated on the form design, it just stays at its default value.

View 1 RepliesIn my home form I have a splitcontainer and few buttons. When the buttons are clicked respective forms are opened in the splitcontainer. The splitcontainer is anchored- top, left, right, bottom so that when the home form is resized the splitcontainer resizes itself automatically. The controls within the other forms are also anchored properly to resize themselves accordingly. But the problem is when i open a form in the splitcontainer, even if I resize the home form, the controls in the form within the splitcontainer aren't resizing. The reason is when the home form is resized the splitcontainer is resizing itself accordingly but the form inside the splitcontainer isn't (as forms don't have anchor or dock properties so I couldn't set them). As a result though the controls in the sub form are anchored to resize themselves yet they aren't.

View 7 RepliesI have a form named VBProject It has two TextBoxes and one custom control named MyControl which is created in another project.MyControl's project has a form inside, named Form3. When My control is loaded it needs to find all controls in my VBProject and add them into a listbox which is in Form3. Then Show the Form3. In the end ListView need to shows name and text of textboxes but it shows nothing. Here are my codes:

My mate & Myself are currently building a IRC Client, a problem we have come across is when opening a chatroom the form Freezes for example.We are currently using arrays so we can open multiple chat rooms and at this current time to open a chat room we use.[code]Using the above code, the form does not freeze but appears we can not access any of the controls such as (RTB)What would be causing the form to freeze on .show(),
View 4 RepliesI am trying to access the controls' properties on another form without having to modify the code of the other projec (the one containing the controls that I want to access) because it is already compiled as a DLL. In this DLL that I am trying to access, the functions/sub-procedures are all declared as private. Would there be any way of accessing the controls' properties without having to modify the DLL? Basically what I am trying to do is create a sort of console application wrapper for the DLL that would create a new instance of the DLL's form and then make certain checkboxes checked and click certain buttons. Basically, I am trying to automate the form as it currently exists.

now as my form is a scrollable form.and the total window portion with respect to which i want to resize n relocate. m having trouble in choosing X , Y in the above code.
I am desinging a form with mutiple controls on a tab page control and was moving controls between tab pages by cutting and pasting them. The forms designer obviously got confused at some stage and I now have controls that are declared in the designer.vb but do not appear anywhere on the form.
I can't even rename the controls that are there which have been given generic names to the names I want because they apparently already exist. I realise I could edit the designer.vb and remove the references to these controls but that seems fraught with danger?
I have been searching for a solution to this but I can't find one. I have played with the anchor and dock properties but they are not doing what I want, so here goes... I would like to place and size all of my controls on my form and then when the form is re-sized during run time (different resolutions, full screen/windowed, etc), have everything just scale up or down accordingly. Anchoring the controls to all four sides of my form re-sizes the control properly but it doesn't move it's location in sync with the other control's size next to it, they begin to overlap each other. Am I going to have to code my own scaling code for each control in my program?

i have tried googling this and cant find a way to do this, i hav 2 projects in the same solutions, i am trying to write a bit for Solution1_Project1_Form1 to open a windowsForm in Solution1_Project2_Form2.
Start main application & View 2nd application FROM within the main application.
Start the 2nd application WITHOUT using the main application.
both applications need to read and write to a database, i dont think this makes a big diferance but thought i would mention it
I have about 60 Child forms
Each have a variable with same name.
In Main form I want to set the value of the variable of the active child.
One way of doing that is like

I donot want to do that as it involves writing many cases and I may miss some.
Is there some other way of doing it .

I want a string and a listbox, both which are in a form to be modified by an instance of a class method. Should (could I):
1. Pass the entire form to the class method as parameter.
2. Pass the listbox and the string to the method as parameters.
What's the best approach to get access and modify this string and listbox on the form.
I only managed make the form always on top. But what I want is when the form is on top, user cannot access the other application in the windows.
For example : Some messagebox won't let users access the other application until the users hit the OK button.
I have a query about dynamically added controls to a form. I have a series of buttons which are created and added at run time. I have a two drop down lists and two buttons which are created at design time. Button 1 creates a series of buttons called "Test 1.x" based upon the selection of the two drop down lists. This works fine and am happy with the logic.However.... Button two should remove all the dynamically created buttons from the form.This does not happen. What does happen is that 50% of the buttons are removed starting with the first one. WHen checking the loop it only enters the loop half the amount of times that there are buttons. Very strange. When the loop is run repeatability it will remove all controls. Why will my logic not remove all the dynamically created controls at once? What is wrong with my logic?

I was a vb6 user, done a few projects only with forums Now i am moving to vb.net(vb2010) and i have some trouble.Lets say we have a form(form1), a module(mod1) and a textbox on the form1.
i want to start a Sub (DoWork) in the module but in a new thread.

The DoWork sub does some stuff and when it's finished i want to change the text of a textbox1 in the main form and start another sub (DoWork2) on the main form under the main thread not the one DoWork is running under.
Plese do not refer me to another post that mighe give me a part answer, try to explain to me what i have to do and why.
I've been building controls for many years professionally and personally, but even back in VB6 days I just could not work this out. After all this time I remembered about it again.If I create a usercontrol/containercontrol and add one or more controls to the controls surface, I just cannot figure out how to access the controls at design time.
