View 4 Replieshow to load data into datagridview using backgroundworker & progressbar?Let's say i have a report that shows some statistics, or has 100 000 of rows that should be displayed and during the load i would like to show the data that is already loaded and not to frees the form.Same example like in SQL when you perform a select command from a table which has 100 000 of rows and while loading the data, the grid is already filled up and progressbar is shown at the left buttom side.
View 7 RepliesI create more then 10 columns in Access 2010 and I have a lot of rows. I write code already to load data to my datagridview, but I want to know to how to load data with progressbar untill finish. *If loading data does not finish the progressbar does not finish,too.
View 8 RepliesWhat is the best way of quickly loading a datagridview with thumbnails of images and filenames/paths found within a particular folder using a backgroundworker without affecting UI performance ?
While loading, I'd like to continuously filter the dgv's image column through a textbox to display results as the user is typing.
I've got a form that has a ProgressBar on it. The Style is set to Marquee. In the Form.Shown event handler, I call BackgroundWorker. RunWorkerAsync(). In the old version, while this is occurring in the background, the ProgressBar is scrolling, which is exactly what I want.I copied over not only the code from within the file (i.e., the logic code) but also the code from the designer file. So, from what I can tell, there should be NOTHING different between the two files. However, in the new version, the marquee scroll doesn't occur.

I just have 1 listbox which got link in there. How can I download each file using background_worker + progressbar(current file download)?
View 5 RepliesI am trying to use the background worker to keep my application responsive during the calculations it does. All I need is one to calculate and the other to count time which I use a timer for. But when I try to use a progress bar as well as I want to see the progress it gives me an InvalidOperationException: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'ProgressBar1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. I need this to work, how could I use a component from outside the background worker? This is the background worker bit:

I have the download progress bar working in my program but I can't find any working code to determine the amount uploaded. here is my upload code

I have a progressbar on my form that is not getting updated.
When the Send Email button is clicked I do this:
Public Sub SendMail()
If CheckSettings() = False Then Exit Sub
BackUpEbillFile()
LockForm(True)
StatusBars(1, "Sending emails...")
[Code]...
[Code] This is run from inside a backgroundworker. It throws an error, Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'pbUpload' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. I have read and read and searched and basically come to the conclusion I am going to have to invoke the command but this is new area for me.
View 5 RepliesI'm using Windows XP and VB.net 2005. I've search for information on how to use the BackgroundWorker to display a ProgressBar during a process and thought I had it correct, but appearently I don't - the bar never shows, much less moves. My goal is to have a Marquee Style progress bar display while my code is looping thru a query result populating a datatable that a DataGridView is binded. Here is my code.

I have a class that downloads a specific file from the net.This class uses a BackgroundWorker. I tried to implement kleinma's Download Files From Web With Progressbar [URL]../showthread.php?t=396260), but I'm having difficulties making it work. I'm including a test project, so if someone is willing to take a look at it, it would be great .
The part I'm having trouble with is updating the progressbar and progress label. The errormessage I receive is in Norwegian, but it has something to do with threads. I suppose I should use Invoke or something, but I don't know where to start..
I place some code below to simplify the process.
1) I am trying to use background worker to download a large file and update a progress bar to reflect the changes as the large 5GB file is being downloaded, and also update percentage completed to the label.text(lblInfo).
2) As I was goggling I came across some info that a web client is needed to calculate the maximum size of the file and divide by 100 and you can stream it down with the web client. Reading it is one thing, implementing it is another as I spent week trying to get it to work.

I am working in VB. I have a fairly long and detailed explanation that I'll avoid posting but what I'm looking to find is quite simple. I'm looking for information how the command line executable LAME.EXE (the Mp3 encoder) returns information to the host program/form.
I am a VB novice and a novice to programming in general and am looking to learn more about as much as I can on the whole but basically I have a Windows form that gathers all the necessary information as a front-end:
The input .wav file path
The output .mp3 file destination
The encode settings (bitrate, frequency, etc)This information is pooled in to a string like this: lame.exe -v -b 112 input.wav output.mp3 or any variant on the settings selected in the GUI which is then in turn used to execute LAME.EXE with the set of parameters in a command line console...That's all well and good and it is quite functional but what I'm looking to do is to 'hide' the console in itself and have the encoder feed back its progress, say as a percentage inside the GUI.
The problem is that it doesn't appear that LAME in itself has this kind of functionality explicitly built in. I know it's possible however, as every single front end in the world has this functionality.I have tried a few ways of doing this with avoiding the issue of not being able to find the functionality within the codec. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place entirely or I'm not thinking correctly 'outside the box' as it were.
what I'm looking for is to use a command like this within the script itself: lame(v,b,112,"C:input.wav","c:output.mp3") or even pass the parameters obtained from the GUI a string formatted dynamically on the fly itself.I expect of course that this kind of functionality won't be available anywhere at all, what I'm really looking for as a workaround that reports the actions/progress/console output of the executable back in to the VB program somehow.
I build my project and i got some problems. First i want to print barcode for books(toolstripmenu item). but i cant. here's the code that i found:
[code..]
second problem is printing again. i want to print my MS ACCESS .mdb from child datagridview's records.
third one i want to save and load(with dialogs) my database from main form to child forms' datagridview.and the last one is help provider. i prepare my own .htm help file, when press F1 it opens. but i dont know how to call provider to toolstripmenuitem and help provider keep my computer's path so when i call provider another computer, the programme cant find the path.
I'm trying to load data from DB with a BackgroundWorker but I'm getting the follow error:

I'm trying to make a progressbar that shows the load time of the next form.I've tried alot of different ways to do it, but it and the speed is always the same whether the next form loads faster or slower.I'm not sure what variables to use or anything.
View 3 RepliesHow do I make a splash screen with a progressbar that value changes base on the MainForm_load event? Example:When the mainform finished executing part of mainform_load, the progress bar in the splash screen changes to X value (eg 50)When mainform_load is executed completely, the progress bar moves to 100%, the splashscreen closes and mainform opens.
View 1 RepliesI am having a pplication, where I need to send EMail to multiple persons one after the other, what I need to show is the Grid which is populated with the PersonName,EMailProgressBar, Status. I am using the DevExpressGrid so I had been able to bind grids with these three items and as an ColumnEditControl for the EmailProgress I had assigned Progressbar. But now what I am not able to do is show the Progress in grid one after the other as emails are being sent. I mean when the first email is sent the progressbar in first row should be active and as soon as second email is started it should showing progress for secod row of grid. I know it is easy said then done but I hope that there are some experts out there which may have done something similar in past or have some ideas.

View 4 Repliesi'm using two backgroundworker on two different invisible forms.One bgworker starts to work before the second, it depends on the cpu usage calculated every minute.
When the second bgworker starts to work, an operation me.invoke is called to show a message, but when the code reachs the comand, the system give me this exception : impossible to call invoke or begininvoke method without a form handle.The me.invoke method is called during the dowork fase of the bgWorker.
I want to make a ProgressBar with text inside it and I want to make the ProgressBar not using bars. Sample in the picture :
I can make the text inside the ProgressBar with CreateGraphics and DrawString, but I still can't make the progressbar not using bars.
I have the following sub that displays the progress (the Animation speed is 50 - but I've tried with other values)

I should mention that the control is created dynamically and placed on a dynamically created TabPage that in turn is added to the main tab control that is on the static form (Form1) that is refreshed - but I do believe that 'Refresh' should ripple though to all sub controls?
Sub laad_leden()

I am binding the data to datagridview using dataset ( datagridview.datasource=ds.table(0) ).but i want to show the loading status of the datagridview in progressbar.
View 13 RepliesI have 2 forms (let's call them form1 and form2). Form1 has a datagridview that is populated by a combobox, when the selectedindex changes the datagridview is re-populated. Form2 is a small blank form with just a progressbar on it (progressbar1). Right now if I make Form2 visible when selectedindex is changed the marquee on the progressbar doesn't really move and Form1 is essentially "locked up" until the records are done loading into the datagridview.
