I have created a control, similar to an image combo, but a bit different. Any how, each of the labels that contians text to be clicked has an ID in their tag, that i wish to read. I have a sub routine called CBO_Click() which has the same arguments as a normal label click. How can i add the argument for the ID in the labels tag to be passed to this sub.

View 3 RepliesI've got three forms, one is a search form where you use textboxes to filter the datagridview to find the Client you wish to work on.The second form is basic data entry, their personal details, assets, liabilities, etc is entered on this form.The third form calculates all sorts of reports about the particular client.I filter the binding sources each time to get the appropriate clients data on the form when the particular client is chosen in the first form.When I go to print the word document I create at the button.click event, it comes up with an error saying "Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid. I've checked countless times, tabbed in and out of the textbox, named ClientIDTextbox, but it still wont accept that there is a value in that textbox - the error is appearing on the line where I use the textbox to query data from the database using the ID in the textbox.The third form holds the print button, and the second form holds the ClientIDTextbox which is causing this error.
I'm about to try querying the binding source, instead of applying a filter, using ClientBindingSource.DataSource = dt where dt is a datatable. I'll let you know how this goes! But in the meantime, is it because I've filtered the binding source multiple times across forms that the error is appearing?

what I'm trying to do is what in C would be as simple as int varptr = &var I have a form that is just a communication watcher/logger. It's just a blank text box with a Pause/Play button and a copy to clipboard button and every new activity on my serial communication is logged. but the problem is that I also have serial2; serial3; sql1 that I would like to keep an eye on them, and considering my work here I'm sure I would be re-using this form a lot if I could make it portable. Create one form for each is just stupid, as you'll all agree.
Then I would like to have an sub initialise(byref log as string) that would store this reference into an local variable within the form; so that every new instance of my form could be initialised with whatever log they'll be looking for and the timer just make textbox.text = LogPointer to the actual value of the log string.So, as I said I really wanted a int varptr = &var
I want to pass a List of T where T is an object I've created that has about ten properties (strings, dates and integers).The lst passes to the function successfully. I am also passing an New T of the Object (itm as T).I can see all the values (see image below), but because it's generic I cannot seem to retrieve the property values and I cannot figure out how to iterate through the properties of each itm as they are retrieved in the For Each.[code]

In the sense, a whole paragraph is displayed in one line and the next one in the next line and so on. I have a label that displays text kinda like a title to something (autosize = falseTextAlignment = MiddleCenter) and whenever the label control isn't wide enough to display the single line of text it tries to auto-wrap it causing half of the text to be chopped off at the top and half of it chopped off at the bottom. I'm currently making an application that involves time tables / scheduling. I'm required to generate a timetable for school teaching activities. in this application, I want to display the time slots using labels and I want to enable users to drag them around to place the subject cards in the available slots. I'm even confused with the control to use for the time slots. Right now I'm thinking of using datagridview for the time slot. So I'm trying to drag the labels around and placing them in the datagridview cells.
View 1 RepliesI have a label in my form which displays the text-content stored in a text file. However it is not able to display special characters like ", ', : etc. Instead it just puts a small rectangular box (same size as that of the text).
How do I get them to display these characters? Should I not use text files in this case or do I have to turn on some control-properties?

How do I change the font for all forms to let's say Tahoma, 8.25pt without changing it manually per form?
I created a program that has serval labels on a form and a listview object. It has a button that when clicked reads a textfile and loads up values in the listview object. I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. Now, my question is how can I instruct VB to save these values in the text property of the labels so that the next time the program is loaded the labels will contain the values loaded during the last run time session?
View 1 RepliesWell im currently developing an application for public use, I have a login screen in which the user enter's their registered credential's and the progressbar loads by increments of 3, now i placed 6 labels ontop of eachother and where the progressbar coding is i put:

And so on up until Label8 Show at 100%,
Now the problem is... As i have placed the labels ontop of eachother i need them hidden until they are called to show, i have tried adding a background worker to do this but have had no luck, all i see is the labels overlapping eachother when i run my application when i want them hidden untill Label3.Show() is called, and then to display them as they are called and hide them when another one is called to show...
With VB, but I've got the few basics down, file naming, adding objects, naming objetcs, etc. But the reason I'm on here is because I cannot complete even the first step. Our form is 640 X 480, and we need to have two labels, both have vertical scrolls. I know how to add and resize the labels to meet my needs, but I do not know how to create scrolling labels. Or are they text boxes? On our bubble chart (Do you know what that means?) it says lblInformation. We are going to have clickable radio buttons which will update the lblInformation with info about each of the radio buttons.
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to make a program that allows the user to click on labels which have a number in it and then that value has to be stored into a different label.
For example the user click on label1 and the values goes into label12, then it click on label3 and the values goes to label13 and so on.
At the moment I can only code on the respective label underneath (1->12,2->13...) but it has to be in any order (5->12,7->13...)

Apparently I don't understand what PointToScreen() is actually returning. I'm thinking it should be absolute screen co-ordinates. In a form, I have some labels in a panel, which itself is in a panel and am trying to derive the screen co-ordinates for the labels in one statement without adding the X and Y co-ordinates of the panels. Why does PointToScreen(Label.Location) return the same value as PointToClient(Label.Location) and the same as Label.Location? Shouldn't PointToScreen() return absolute SCREEN co-odinates?
View 12 RepliesI'm very new to vbs scripting and am trying to set a System envinonment variable which will be used by a subsequent cmd file which is called by the VBS script which created the ENV varible.The vbs script creates the varibale correctly but the called CMD file does not find it. I thought a child process inherited its parent env settings. I understand the child can not change the parents env. why the cmd file does not see the variable, am I using the wrong shell command in vbs to call the cmd file or something?Here is the VBS script that simply sets a System varibale and the CMD file below which attempts to log it.on error resume next
