Forms :: Use Inputted Data From The NumericUpDown Control In A Statement?

May 13, 2009

I have a NumericUpDown control with a range of 10-50 and I want to have the selected number be multiplied by an amount of money to create yearly cost. I dont know, however, how to use inputted data from the NumericUpDown control in a statement because I cannot convert it to Integer and I also dont know how to call in the data even if a number is selected.

Adding NumericUpDown Control Data To An Array

Apr 25, 2011

What syntax do you use to add decimal data held in a NumericUpDown control, and add it to a one dimensional array? Is there a keyword to sum all the items in the array into one number(For averaging purposes)?

Dim heightarray As String()
ReDim Preserve heightarray(0 To UBound(heightarray) + 1)
heightarray(UBound(heightarray)) = heightNumericUpDown.Value

Save / Load User Inputted Data?

Jul 25, 2010

I have created a program in Visual basic 2010, the program contains many different objects e.g. datagridview, textbox, buttons, graphs etc, which can all be modified by the user. The user can also select a file using 'SaveFileDialog'.

Is there a way to save all the properties associated with each object to this file and later load the program back to exactly the same state it was saved in, after the user has selected saved file using 'LoadFileDialog'? Preferably in binary.

I can do this the hard way in ASC11 format by interrogating objects user editable properties and saving them. I would rather not use this method as it will require a lot of code and any future program changes will require a lot of extra work.

Forms :: Use Numericupdown To Multiply String In Richtextbox?

Feb 25, 2011

2 forms, on the first form I have a listbox which recieves it's items from a datagridview, when I click on a button all the items (in the listbox) are converted to a string and add to a richtextbox on the second form.

On the second form I have also a numericupdown, and here is what I run into.

With the numericupdown I want to multiply or remove blocks of strings from the richtextbox.

For example, when clicked on the button (form1) a string is add to the richtextbox, when I click (on form2) on the upbutton of the numericupdown I want to add the same string again below the existing one with 2 blank lines between them (this can be down a lot of times). When I click the downbutton, a string should be removed.

In short term, the amount in the numericupdown should be the amount of string blocks in the richtextbox.

Here is the code I use to copy listbox.items to string and add them to the richtextbox:

Public Sub SGLists()
Dim i As String
For Each i In Me.ListBox1.Items

How To Have More Than One SQL Statement That Will Control Data Flow

May 12, 2010

I am wondering how to have more than one SQL select statement inside my window formapplication that will control the data flow, as i am a newbie in visual basic.net 2005. This is because I am working on a Alarm Application Notifier which will alert the guard on duty as well as inform him the alarm location. The guard's computer screen will be showing the premises and the button will blink at that location where the alarm is. So if the alarm is at block A for example, the guard screen will show block A button blinking.I have already done the first part but i am STUCK at the rest as to how am i going to seperate the conditions for the 3rd to 4th building .The bottom is for the first building code. NumericUpDown Control But With Text?

Sep 23, 2010

So I'm currently working on a control that acts as a HTML editor. One of the thing that I need to do is insert tables, in order to do that I needed to provide the user with some options first. When thinking of the design for this, I decided to go with the form layout that Word 2003 uses;

Now as you may notice the third NumericUpDown control has "Auto" written in it. This is one of the values the other values include;

Quote:

0.7 cm
0.8 cm
0.9 cm

[Code]....

how I might be able to get my NumericUpDown control (or another control) to display those non-numeric options.

Use Datetimepicker Or Numericupdown Control?

May 16, 2009

I have not been able to find a way to get the datetimepicker with ShowUpDown= True and custome format set to h:m tt to increment in 15 min intervals. I have been able to set it when the form is loaded to the nearest 15 min increment. But I need it to increment in 15 minutes units.

This can be down with the NumericUpDown control, but I need two of them one for the hour and one for the minutes and set it's Increment property to 15. Again I can set it to adjust to correct hour and the nearest 15 min. And of course I have to watch and when I go over 60 reset to zero and increment the hour control.

The users will be burly oil field workers using a Panasonic Tablet PC with a stylus in the field. It seems that it would be easier if I could increment the datetimepicker in 15 intervals.

VS 2010 Errors When Trying To Produce Reports From Inputted Data, And In The Code?

Mar 28, 2011

i'm a freshman and was handed this assignment a short while ago and i'm having extreme difficulty figuring out why i keep getting the following error message whenever i click btnGenerate.Click on the form:Error1: Unable to apply this change while debugging. 'Private Sub GroupBox1_Enter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GroupBox1.Enter' was deleted that modifies 'Public Class Form1'. You must revert the change or stop the debugging sessionBasically the assignment is requesting that we build a 'Call Cost Calculator' and since im relatively new to this i've never worked with strings before and also get the follow errors:Warning2Variable 'sCountryBeingPhoned' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.Warning3Variable 'sPhonePlan' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.

My form codes:
vb
Public Class Form1 'heading Const sFormHeading As String = "Call Cost

[code]....

I reals because it's driving me mad and i'm honestly quite literally stuck and can't move on until i get this sorted.

IDE :: NumericUpDown Control And The KeyPress Event?

Aug 9, 2009

As part of a program that I am composing, the user needs to enter a value by way of a NumericUpDown control on one particular form. Once this and other criteria have been evaluated, the program will then move to the next "step" of the program. If they use the spinner built into the NumericUpDown control, the event is fired on every change and that's all well and good, but if they double-click the value in the control then type the value in manually, it doesn't fire until the control no longer has focus. I can't depend that this might be the case however. Using the "KeyPress" event, I can in fact know when the control has focus and the user has typed but what I cannot seem to get it to do is to get the control to "read" these keystrokes as values until the control loses focus.

Trapping User Changes To A NumericUpDown Control?

The "Scroll" event works for user changes to the TrackBar control, but not for me on the UpDown control, and the ValueChanged event doesn't distinguish the source of the change.

Getting A 'NullReferenceException Was Unhandled' Exception When A NumericUpDown Control Is Cycled Too Quickly?

Apr 1, 2011

I'm getting a 'NullReferenceException was unhandled' exception when a NumericUpDown control is cycled too quickly. To slow it down I've disabled the (NUD) control and set a 200 Interval Timer to re-enable it, but the exception is still happening.I don't want the slow the control down any further, I'd rather try to handle the exception, but can't find any help on how to do that.This is essentially the code which is incurring the exception, at the (4th) line... Dim p... : -

For b = 0 To 8
z = Pic(b)

[code]....

I figure I need to ensure each image is happily installed in it's 'Box before I try to load the next one, or it may be that I just need to check that the last one is 'in' before I call the next bit of code (which calls this bit again if I'm too fast) It all works perfectly well if I don't go too fast.

Forms :: Using Data Repeater Control In VS 2010?

Jan 27, 2011

Normally, when populating controls with data from a database I create a connection and then pass a SQL statement to create a DataReader. I then loop through the DataReader and populate the controls. Because I am creating the SQL statement on the fly I can query the database joining on multiple tables to get just the columns and rows I need.

Now I'm trying to use the Data Repeater control in VS 2010. The Data Repeater is part of the Visual Basic Power Pack add on. If you don't have it, it is similar to the Data Grid. I've never used the data grid because I found it lacking. I need more control on how to display the data. The data repeater seems as though it will work in this particular instance.

So, following the numerous on-line tutorials I created a new data source and a new dataset using the wizards. I pointed the dataset to a table in my data source and then bound the dataset to the data repeater. It works but the dataset is bound to a table. I can think of very few instances where I would need to dump the data from a table on to form. I need to be able to query the table.

I need to be able to pass a SQL statement to the dataset at run-time. It needs to be able to retain the bindings to the controls or I need to be able to bind the controls at run-time. No property jumps out at me for changing the dataset SQL statement at run-time. I can't see how to bind controls on the data repeater at time time. I can bind a data set to a data repeater at run-time, but I can figure out how to bind the controls to the dataset fields at run-time.

Binding - Centralized Control Of Data Forms From Toolbars

Dec 24, 2009

what I want to achive is to have a centralized control of my data-forms from my toolbars (toolstrip), like navigating (PREV-NEXT), SAVE, DELETE, CANCLE and so on instead of having it in every form. it worked beautifully in my VB6 projects. below are the codes i did in .NET and it don't seem to work and I guessed it about my use of late binding in .NET.

This is what I have done that don't seem to work. In my project module, frm is declared Public as form object Public frm as system.windows.form().form

Im my childforms i want as soon as the forms are load, activated or have focus, should instantiate or create the form object in my frm. [Code] while in my menu or main form (parent form) with toolstrip buttons, this actually where all individual forms are called. [Code]

and it's flagging an error there:
frm.CloseForm is not a member of System.Windows.Forms().Form

and I must say here that I declared all the subs im calling in the childforms PUBLIC, and of-course frm being a late binding type may not have all the Public Method on it.
