View 2 RepliesI am trying to make a listview custom control based on the standard listview control that will allow me to drag a column header outside the standard listview control and drop it on a panel. I plan to use the drop event to determine which column I should group by view on.

View 1 RepliesI am experimenting with CUSTOM CONTROLS for the very first time. What I did so far: I've created a new Windows Control Library project. In there I simply resized the custom control area (made it very wide and only 50 high). I added a pictureBox on the very left, a Label1 with Large text on the right and 2 other labels underneath Label1 on the left and right.Further I've set MOUSE HOVER effects, "Yellow" for MoudeEnter and "White" for MouseLeave.
In a Windows Form application I add this control over and over again into a Panel1 (DockStyle TOP) for each jpg file found in "My Pictures". The PictureBox in My custom control has the Thumbnail of the real picture, the Label1 shows the name of the file.
All this worked out better than I expected for my very first CUSTOM CONTROL, however, there is still 1 thing I would like it to do: being 'selected' when I click on one of the CUSTOM CONTROLS in my Panel1. Does anyone know how to do that? If I set a BackGroundColor change on MouseClick in my custom control, then it surely would change the color, however, it would stay that way even if I click on the next custom control in my Panel1 .(Listing SPEC's is not a review !
I am trying to create a Messagebox/dialogbox that will allow me you Define the Prompt and the text for the two buttons. I started by looking around the internet and found [URL]. It got me started But i don't think i have the libraries to make the stackoverflow.com code work. i don't know enought about events to make the box always have the focus untill it is closed or one of the buttons is pressed. I would also like to return the button.text of the button that was clicked.here is the little code i have
Public Class DialogBoxForm
Private _ButtonName1 As String
Private _ButtonName2 As String

I'd like to know how to make my own custom control. Please guide me from the very beginning, since I'm new to VB.Net2008.

I am trying to use the Web Browser control in my vb .net user control. I am using VS 2008. Finally, I will be calling my assembly (.dll) from a web page. I wanted to display the usercontrol with the web browser control inside this web page. The problem is I cannot proceed since the Web browser control cannot be called from a partially trusted assembly. Using VS 2008 I have created a strong name for my class, also added the <Assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers()> to the AssemblyInfo. But still the web browser control cannot be seen in my web page. Do you how I can make my assembly fully trusted so that it can access web browser control? If you have used web browser control, can you confirm if this step is really required?!
View 2 RepliesI have an application in VB 2008 Express that uses a DataGridView to display rows of information. I have a DataGridViewCheckboxCell on each row for selecting the row so the user can mass delete the selected rows. For some reason, whenever I try to select a row via checkbox it adds another row to the DataGridView, is there anyway to disable this?
View 1 RepliesJust started on a touchscreen based project that uses the reportviewer control. I will obviously be putting my own big buttons for report navigation , export to pdf etc since even people with tiny fingers will have a hard time clicking the out of box toolbar that comes with this control (see below screenshot). Can I do all of this from code 1) Show next / prev/first /last page of report
View 1 RepliesIs there a better image then a check for a checkbox or would i have to create my a new control?
View 6 RepliesI have a list of cities in a list view (screencap attatched) what i am trying to do is find out which ones the user has checked, and also the sub item for each selection
for example is the user selects: London i can get the country values to which is UK.
This is probably easy as well. But I have this listview which contains exe files I've listed up. Now, I want to execute these exe files in turn from which items are checked or not. So, I've tried this:
For each item in listView1.CheckedItems
Msgbox item.ToString
Next
Cause I noticed that the item in checkedItems doesn't contain much. And if I convert it to a string, it ends up in the msgbox looking like this: ListViewItem: {Filename.exe}
Win XP, VS 2008, .NET 2.0
When I use Count property to count checked items in ListView (set to detail view with check boxes), sometimes i get NullReferenceException on count part. Sometimes I get it but sometimes I don't get it... It's very randomly and I can not reproduce it always?

how do i check if a listview checkbox has been checked and prompt the user on what he/she checked.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple ListView with DataPager like the following:
[Code]...
But, how do I count all checked CheckBox in the ListView that has paging?
On the form that i have there is a listview with checkboxes enabled it all works fine but when i close and reopen the form all the previous checked checkboxes are uncheched . Is there a way to save the state of the checkboxes and on form load to restore them ?
View 5 RepliesI have an idea on how I want to proceed, but thought to get some ideas from you all first. I asked a similar question a while ago, but that involved different controls.I have 7 items in a ListView. If the user checks one of the items, I want a panel with three radio buttons to appear just for that item.I originally thought to make 7 panels, hide all of them, and then show and hide them when appropriate. I know this will work, but I really don't want to just overlap 7 panels and an overall 21 radio buttons.Is there a way I could use only three radio buttons with one panel? Or maybe create the controls during runtime?
View 3 RepliesI remember doing this in a checkboxlist element, but with listview element its giving a hard time.
Private Sub CheckedListBox1_ItemCheck(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemCheck
If e.NewValue = CheckState.Checked Then
For index = 0 To Me.ListView1.Items.Count - 1

View 2 RepliesIntroduction[INDENT]Since this is my first thread in VB.NET forum(most of the time, I was in C/C++ forum), I want to share something that you might find it useful with your school project or with your works.Button is already a MUST-HAVE element in every program (I couldn't imagine program without a single button would function). Because it is everywhere, its appearance affects your form's appearance greatly. Some people might not care about how their software looks, but to me, it is a very important aspect for my software.
NOTE: I am pretty new to VB.NET myself. If there is any mistake, please correct me.

Step 1: Creating UserControl and Essential Properties[INDENT]Creating UserControl into your project. Then imports the following:
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.Windows.Forms
[code]....
Because UserControl already has BackColor and ForeColor properties, you only need to construct Text and BorderColor properties
Private _BorderColor As Color '' Button Border Color
Public Property BorderColor() As Color

I have managed to get it to write a string to a textfile if the listviews checkbox is checked but i can not get it to write a particular string if it is unchecked.
'LOOP CHECKED ITEMS
For Each lstItem As ListViewItem In Me.ListView1.CheckedItems
Next
How do i Iterate an unchecked item as the library doesn't have .UnCheckItems?
If its checked i need to add "true" to the string and if its unchecked i need to add "false" to a string that gets written to a textfile.
I was thinking of making a custom skin for my application. I looked into Aero like application like this one. But wait a problem it will not work on XP So my question is do you know were i can get free and good looking GUI. Or can i make the aero work some how on XP.
View 7 RepliesHow would I make my own custom border style? I want to make my own so that the program looks better and havign its own close/minimize button would be awesome also. View 3 RepliesHave a populated listview with check boxes. If the item is checked I want to send it to report for printing. This code is bypassed:
Code:
Private Sub GetSelectedItems()
If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then
[code]....
Count is always = 0. This seems to work only if the item is double clicked. And then only one item is returned in the msgbox. MSDN says "The SelectedItems property will not contain any items if the property is accessed before the ListView handle is created, which typically occurs when ListView is initially loaded for display in the form. You can check to see if the handle is created with the IsHandleCreated property."
When I tried to check for the handle, an error said something about overloading. So I added this:
Code:
Public Overloads ReadOnly Property GetSelectdItems()
Get
If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then
[code]....
Which does not help. How to find the items checked/create the needed handle?
I need to work on my listview. Do you know how I can convert the strings of checked from true to enabled and from false to disabled?
