I need the file name from Windows Explorer... I have a service that runs when a specific extension is selected.It's along the same lines as selecting a Docx from WinExp and then Word opens and brings your file with it.

Now when the user clicks this file, the window asks 'with what program to open this file' and he/she selects the exe of my program. Now I want to pass the name of file clicked to my program. i've made a little app that opens .txt files kind of a replacement for notepad now i have set the install package in visual studio to associate .txt with my app however when i double click on .txt files my app opens but blank. so i'm assuming i've gotta code something to get it to open the clicked on file but.... haven't got a clue where to look for inspiration or code i can "borrow" and chop to fit my needs. i assume it's got to be in the load section of the program.[code]

I have built the whole Visual Basic project, but I am unable to do one part, the most important part you could say. I have a button (button1) on a form, when the button is clicked, I want it to run a program, named 'mover.exe' which is located in the SAME FOLDER that my visual basic program will run from. The directory of this folder will change. So, there are two problems I have:
1 - To make the program run the .exe program when button1 is clicked (it also must be run with administrative privileges).
2 - To make the program always look for 'mover.exe' in the folder in which it is started from.
I totally don't get it , why i got a Additional information: Bad file name or number when Button1 was clicked in VS2008SP1 ?

I've noticed that when you click on a web page in Windows Explorer, or open a file in general, and the default application to open it is internet explorer, ie opens and opens the file. However, when I tried this on my Web Browser it opened, but ignored the file and went on its usual routine. How can I get my Web Browser to open and open the file that was clicked on in explorer?
View 1 Repliesi have a form with 10 designated slots for letter to be entered (Like the free letter spaces on hangman), above these are 10 adjacent labels with a full stop "." as the text value, now i have created a button, Q to detect whether there is a. in the first box, and if there is enter the letter Q (Letter1.text = "Q"), elseif check the same for the second box. Now my problem is when i click the button, it still does nothing and letter 1 remains "." instead of "Q". also how would i end this string of else ifs? as in what if every text box is full then do what?

My btndisplay cost works, but my btnexitprogram does not close the application when clicked. I've ensured the button is correctly named and enabled. But when I click it does not close out, I use this simple code in other programs and it works.
I have a calculate button that, if clicked more than once adds the total of what I previously had to the new total as I am using a loop. I was thinking that I could get around this by only allowing the button to be clicked once, and if the user attempts to do this more than once a messagebox will appear saying that you can only calculate the price once and the form resets but i can't seem to get any code working.
