I have 100 textbox exist on a form (10,10). I had used the following property of each textbox(.Text, .Tag, Tooltip, AccessibleName). I need to drag from any textbox to another textbox and they replace each other by the 4 content mentioned above. Instead, I managed to change the location of the source and target textbox by drag and drop which seems to be easier. I have 100 textboxes, I will not do a programming for each one putting a code at design time. there should be a way to do it by programming
The code I found to replace location between 2 textboxes is this
Private Sub tbfromMouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles tbFrom.MouseDown
tbFrom.DoDragDrop(tbFrom, DragDropEffects.Move)
End Sub

I created a telephone number form where the user enters the telephone number in a text box as (nnn) nnn-nnnn. The first 3 digits in parenthesis are the ISD code, the next three are the area code and the last four are the local number. I need to separate out these three fields of the phone number and display in three separate text boxes labeled appropriately. Now, suppose the user enters the phone number in a text box as a continuous string of 10 digits, where the first three represent the ISD code, the next three represent the area code and the last four represent the local number. I'm lost as how to change this string into the form (nnn) nnn-nnnn. This is what I have

I have a program where a user puts a string into a textbox, and then character one goes into Textbox1, char2 goes into TB2, char3 goes into TB3, etc. I have a For loop that gets all of my textboxes that are used for this, and I have my for loop that is supposed to go through my string character by character.

View 16 RepliesI need to out each line of text to a seperate textbox. or label. Im not sure about a string. Can a string hold a value like, "192.168.1.1 2302"? If so, then how would i output it to a string. If not, textbox or label please. Please keep it simple as possible, since I will probably be needing to repeat this process 500 times, like, a different string for each line, i will have a lot of lines. Dont care about the textbox limit, as long as all the lines are outputted to each textbox.[code]
View 15 RepliesI'm using Visual Basic Express 2010. I have the prompt, the textbox and the calculate button. For the answer do I have to make a separate label for the answer in seconds and the actual response "That will take (separate label for answer) seconds" I made a click event button and assigned the following as global variables at the start of the form:
Const intSpeed As Integer = 1207
Const intTime As Integer = 3600
Then I made a click event for the button. I don't know what the formula is. Basically the user inputs a distance in the box, the calculate button tells you how long it will take for the vehicle to travel that distance in seconds.
Here's the interface: [URL]
Criteria:
Are We There Yet?
The Thrust SSC, a super fast vehicle tracked at 1207 Km per hour (750 mph) was clocked on the Black Rock desert back in 1977. Build an application that will tell people how many seconds it would take to get to their destination if they were driving the vehicle. Of course this doesn't include having to stop for stop signs, travel through school zones, or slow down for corners.
You need to include the following:
1.) Design the application with a prompt label and textbox to collect the distance from the user.
2.) A calculate time button
3.) The form must have the text property changed to read "Are we there yet?"
4.) The objects must have both the Text property and Name property changed to an appropriate value.
5.) A constant global variable should be used to represent speed of the vehicle.
6.) A constant global variable should be used for seconds (there are 3600 seconds in an hour)
8.) A local Dim variable declaration can be used within the button click to hold the distance value.
7.) Variables should be declared with the most appropriate data types.
8.) Include a "Text Changed" event to reset the time in seconds to a blank value when the user starts entering in a new distance.
9.) Comment code should be included
I am having problems with creating this change problem. The idea is that the user puts the amount of money in the textbox and then in separate textboxes shows Dollars, Quarters, Dimes, Nickles and Pennies.
Example:
You Money: 12.54
Dollars: 12
Quarters: 2
Dimes: 0
Nickles: 0
Pennies: 4

I have to create a textbox which will list down one column of datas from textfile which is separate by delimiters. But as I have to filter alt.Row from the text file, what can i do?
View 9 RepliesI am currently trying to separate my text into groups of 5.For example.
Original text is ABCDEFGHIJK.I am trying to make the output to something like this ABCDE FGHIJ K.Using textbox for it
I'm at a bit of a standstill with my current project. I have text output something along the lines of:
ID Accessed By Type Open File (Pathexecutable)
------------------------------------------------------------------
7 USERNAME Windows C:Program Files (x86)Adobe
15 USERNAME Windows C:..AdobeReader 10.0
etc...
Instead of displaying this into a textbox for the user (which is what it currently does), I wanted to display this into a listview instead. I'm just stuck on how I would be able to separate the pieces of data in this string into listview items since these objects wont always be the same. I'm not expecting anyone to write the code FOR ME, no. BUT, rather just some pointers on how to go about this.
I have a TabControl object on my form with many tabs created in code (TabPages) and my problem is that the same objects that are in the initial TabPage needs to be in the other TabPages created in code, I have this done in code when the user clicks the 'New Tab' menu option, however the same code is used for any new tabs created. The problem created here is that I have an event against one of the objects that appear in the other TabPages, but because the same code is used to create any new tab pages, the event will only work on the newest tab page, if that makes sense? By the way these objects that appear on the other TabPages are properties at the top so events can be handled against them in the respective subroutine.

I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.
View 5 RepliesWhat I need to do is pull information from reports which will then be parsed and sent on to another program. I have everything working except the first and most important step. I am not able to pull the information from the initial reports. They are displayed as html files in a very limited web browser. The window handle of the browser is "MSGWND" and the child handle is Internet "Explorer_Server". I can make this work by pulling the information out of the notepad or by loading the html file myself but I can not seem to get any information out of the "Internet Explorer_Server". Ideally I would like to just pull the url that the browser has opened but I don't know where to look for that as those are the only handles in the whole window.
View 1 RepliesI have a text file like this:
name=xyz
user=asdfjklas
etc...
i need to have a string called name with "xyz" in it, and a string called user with "asdfjlas" in it.
I am reading a text file in which has three colums of information i.e.
00100 25690 21586
23510 25694 24856
25896 45478 52897
58745 59687 12364
I want to read the whole file, and split the colums so each set of numbers is put into an array to be used as an input for later. If the text file only contains one line of numbers like 00100 25690 21586, I have written a code to seperate those and put them into an array which is attached. If the text file contains more than one row of numbers I can read the whole file in line by line but I can't get the strings seperated.

So my issue is that I created program that writes a text file in several lines but I am having trouble reading those lines in separate labels on another program. I don't want them in one label but separated with one word to one label.
how can I put a counter on the time a new file is added to the program? I can't seem think of a code for it.
This is my coding so far but I feel like it's not really giving me anything
Public Function ReadFile(ByVal myFile As String)

Dim sr As StreamReader

I have been trying to find out how to do this for days now, so I am finally asking how. I am newish to programming. Here is my problem.
I am trying to extract x,y,z coordinates from a text file arranged as such:
x,y,z
x,y,z
x,y,z
etc.
I need to be able to extract the x column into an array, the y into an array, and the z into an array. I learned how to pull it into a string, and how to split for every line, but i don't know how to split after each comma and separate them.
program that reads the text from a text file and displays the information in different text boxes. I cannot figure out how to enable it to write to different text boxes. In the text file each word is separated by a comma.
Dim sr As New IO.StreamReader("Input.txt")
Dim line, vals() As String
Dim i As Integer

I am wanting to create a char array that consists of input from a form text box. I am unable to determine how to index the Char array to accept input letter by letter. if i assign the array a specified length, i am not allowed to set the strID.toCharArray to it. If i choose no index am told the value is less then the array size. I have tried many different ways, including using a counter to increment the array, but i am unable to index the array.

I am trying to show the following code in a text box on separate lines. Is it possible to code in a hard return?
[Code]...
Using the datetime function to determine lapse time. (Subtracting one from another.) Then placing the answer into two text boxes one with the date and one with the time, later to be placed in a database as two seperate fields. Was thinking I could convert the date/time to a string if necessary then use simple stringmanipulation.... however fear it won't be good programming and will effect resources and end program speed.
