IDE :: 2005 Application/Form Code Not Updating

I have a VS 2005 VB.NET Windows forms application that is exhibiting very strange behavior. I can add controls to any of my forms and see them at design time, however when I run the application, it resorts to "old" copies of the forms without the new modifications. Also, the application does not seem to be firiing the correct events - when I put a break on the Form_Load event of my main form - it never fires the event when the application runs. If I change the project settings to start with a new form - it does not recognize the change. Something strange is going on and I am quite frsutrated trying to figure it out.

I have a windows Forms app that displays data as it scans.Once you alt-tab or remove "focus" from the app and doing something else (open word) it stops updating. In otherwords it looks like the app has locked up.But it will finish the scanning as normal.But any updates from the scans being shown on the app window are not shown, that is until the app is finished and catches up.

I have been developing windows and web application using Visual Basic 2005 for a long time. Now i want to change from Visual Basic 2005 to Visual Basic 2008. I would like to know what ever projects i have done in visual basic 2005 will works in Visual Basic 2008. Will the existing code in visual basic 2005 supports Visual Basic 2008 or do i need lot of modification. I haven't used VB 2008 but i hear that most of the code which written in visual basic 2005 supports visual basic 2008. What are the things i need to take care when working the existing projects in visual basic 2008.

I was using VB 2008 to code using applications. An example of something I coded was hangman. I was wondering if its possible to somehow use the application code and apply it to a form.So for example with the code below how would one go about putting into a form? I need to bring an old program back to the land of the living. This is a GUI software package that interfaces to a hardware device. The program was written in VB, but I don't know which version. It was written around 1994. I need to update it to VB.NET 2008. I would normally just observe how it works and rewrite it, but in this case, there are special codes that are passed to and from the device it is communicating with, along with specific formats of data. All of this would be very difficult to decode using a scope or by capturing bytes. I believe I'd have much better luck looking at the source code. I have the source code, or so it is labeled. I have a number of files ending in .frm, .bas, .vbw and .mak. I've tried opening these in VB.NET, but all I get are numbers. MS Word just shows a few symbols. Are these source code extensions from early VB?

I am trying to add records to a SQL database from a form in Visual Basic. When I first started my project, I was using a MSAccess database, but decided to switch to a SQL database. I have updated all my data connections and everything seems to be working fine. I can view the database from the project, even run parameterized searches with no problem.
WHen I try to add a record, there is the problem. I can add information, get a "update sucessful" message, and no information is added to the database. if I hit the button again, it even tells me the event failed because there is already matching information in the database. here is the code i am using to update the database.

I have ALWAYS used the SQLDataSource to update my records in my SQL Server 2005 database, so i am not really sure how this would be done in normal code. I am using VB.NET but if you are a C# developer and want to show me some code that is more than welcome as well.
I am using ASP.NET 3.5.My user will see a page with 5 Text boxes with their contact details in. Those details I will get from a SQL Server DB and when they go and change the text in the text box and click submit, it must then save the changes.
This is very easy with the SQLDataSource but how can i code this myself?

I have two forms....Mainform is filled with controls that are databound to a datasource.....then I have a child form that is used to edit data from parent form.......the data that is displayed on the child form uses the Filter() method of the binding source to display data only for the customer selected......
The child form has the standard OK and CANCEL buttons set up as dialog result.......after I edit the content in child form, the changes are displayed on the child form correctly......but when closing the child form and going back to the parent form the changes dont appear there unless I restart the application.....I also tried adding the tableadapter.update/fill method in the 'OK' dialog result event handler and it still doesnt work......
How can I make the changes take effect on the parent form without restarting the application?

I have a for loop going through customers and for each customer a update a list of contacts. If there is an error updating the contacts I want it to move on to the next customer and if there is an error in the customer update I want it to move on to the next customer. At the moment if I get an error it bombs out of the routine. Here is a simple example:-
For iRows = 0 to oledscustomers.tables(0).rows.count - 1
For iContactRows = 0 to oledscontacts.tables(0).rows.count - 1
'make some changes in here.
Next
Update Contact Table
'Make changes to customer tables and save them.
Next
If I get errors in the contact for loop or the customer loop it comes out of the routine altogether. I just want it to either continue to the next contact or customer.
