I am new to VS 2008 but have used VB6 for years. I want to be able to run my program in the IDE but when a Msgbox displays a message I want to stop the program and see the MsgBcode. I am using Windows 7 and VS 2008 professional on a 64 bit machine. How can I do this? Do I have to install a 32 bit version of VS 2008?

My setup may make this easier or harder but to be clear I am running Kubuntu 9.10 (latest stable) and WinXP in a VirtualBox VM. Obviously all VB6/VS2008 dev is taking place in the virtual machine.So maybe it's possible to have the linux host send through Ctrl+Break based on a key mapping, or maybe it's possible to remap directly in WinXP. I'd settle for any solution as atm I need to use the XP On-Screen keyboard to send a Ctrl+Break.
When i test a project i usually press Ctrl+Break to pause the execution to change a value here or there, but unfortunately VB opens a new tab titled "No Source Available" and it become difficult to back to the tab that i was working with specially when there are a lot of opening tabs.
Is there any option to stay on the current tab when pressing Ctrl+Break?
This is an IDE question for VB Express 2008. It might be a bug in the IDE, or maybe it's my fault somehow?
My main form is named FrmMain and in my application's properties I have set frmMain as my startup object. All of that seems like what a lot of coders do.
But while debugging I hit Ctrl-Break, as I have done for years, and I get an behavior in the IDE that I wasn't expecting. Upon doing so, I get the green background text and the green arrow indicating in a tooltip: "This is the next statement to execute when this thread returns from the current function." Even if I didn't have the designer document open, it automatically opens frmMain.Designer.vb in the editor and hihglights line in green. The line is of course: Partial Class frmMain which is line 2 of the file. (Yes, it's highlighting the second line of the designer-generated code.)
The thing is, frmMain seems to have fully loaded and it's my startup object. As far as I know there shouldn't be a "next statement to execute" at all because code should be idle. I don't want to see the Designer.vb document... I want to edit my own code. Even though my form is behaving just fine, could there somehow be an unfinished aspect of loading the form such that it is "not returning" from a function?

I am using a 3rd part dll file (SolidWorks EModelView.dll, COM file) that has a version of 9.2.0.128. When I add it to the resources for the application, however, the AxInteropEModelView.DLL and InteropEModelView.DLL references show a version of 9.0.0.0. When I install the application on a client machine and try to run it, the application says it cannot find AxInteropEModelView.DLL version 9.2.0.128!

View 6 RepliesI understand the concept of rounding I guess, all I know is math.round(), but I need a break down of it so I can round a number like this: 14.789543 to this: 14.8 because after the 7 there is an 8, which means you would round the seven up. I've tried this checking the "User-unhandled" box and unchecking the "Thrown" box for "Common Language Run-time Exceptions" and I've tried checking both boxes, and I've tried checking only the "Thrown" box, and I've tried unchecking both boxes.VS either completely ignores all run-time exceptions or breaks on both handled and unhandled run-time exceptions. I have a problem when i want to E&C on break mode.I turn off Optimized code generation but i still haved the problem!Here, Build>Configuration manager, when set configuration to release, i get an error like "Changes are not allowd when the debugger has been attached to an already running process or the code being debugged was optimized at build on run time". in Other Side when set it to debug, the breakpoints not be hit and have a error like "The breakpoint will not currently be hit.No symbols have been loaded for this document".I use Win7 x64,Visual studio 2008 and also set my project's platform target to X86?

I am trying to write the following application. A project has initial investment, yearly revenue and yearly expenses. The program should be able to take these data and calculate the break-even year, i.e. when the cumulative profits become 0. Also, it should have a listbox that would list the cumulative profit for 10 years. Refer to the example below. Now I know how to show it in the listbox but I am having trouble showing the break-even year. I know how to calculate it but how do you show it in years.

I have googled and found some functions which is quite similar, but I have an issue which for eg.
My multiline textbox contains a lot of text with scrollbar, somehow the text I want to find is in the middle, when I click the find button, the word is indeed found and highlight, but the scrollbar still remain on top.
I wonder how can I make the find adjust the scrollbar as well?

As long as the delimiter was a unique specifiable character, this one-statement command could break it out into elements. my memory and point me in the right direction.
so i have a quite huge program. but lets say i have one label. and i want to save that. i have the code and everything for saving the text of the label. now i want to assign ctrl+s to automatically save the labels text once pressed instead of going through a menu to choose save.this is like a regular texteditor where u press ctrl+s and it saves.
