View 4 RepliesI would like a textbox to auto-size when the form is maximized and minamized. Like Internet Explorer when the address bar gets shorter and longer when you resize the window. I think the code so far is[code]...

View 7 RepliesI am using a label in my form as status label there are may way to save the information in data set for exapmle datagridview cellendedit
Now when it is saved to dataset successfully I show a message to status label "Successful" and else "Failed"
Now my problem is when once successful is visible in status label it is always visible ( of course a silly point from a developer point of view)
I can do it like use a timer cotrol and clear the text after some time but I am already using two timers in my form and more timres can make application slow
I created a simple usercontrol AutoHidePanel by using toolStrip and a panel, which have to work like Solution Explorer. When the user click's the autohide pin the panel width will slowly minimized up to 3 pixels so that the user can't see that panel. when the mouse moves over to the control, It will appear as before and these functions are working fine.
But I have a prob. with below function. When the mouse leave the control, it should disappear again. so i wrote hide function in to the MouseLeave event of Both controls(Toolstrip and panel) Here the prob. begins, when the cursor moves from Panel to ToolsStrip or ToolStrip to Panel the MouseLeave event minimize the AutoHidePanel Control. I tryed this Hide Function in the MouseLeave event of my control AutoHidePanel but that dosen't even raises the event because the panel is filled in my control.
I want to add a window that will auto hide or enable me to pin it down like these windows on the VB IDE.
View 1 RepliesI have lost the auto hide option (greyed out) on the drop down solution and properties menus. The Toolbox still has the auto hide option. I cannot find the pin to set auto hide on the Solutin and Properties menus.
View 3 RepliesI really want to make use of the toolstrip and databinding but these two technologies keep conflicting with each other. I think the root cause is something to with the fact that the toolstrip buttons don't recieve focus in the normal way.
I invite you to try the following:-
1. Create a form and put some text boxes a tool strip with a save button on it.
2. Write a query or sproc to get a datatable back and bind your text boxes to the field in the datatable.
3. In the code behind your Save ToolStripButton put some code that makes an arbitrary change to a field on the dataset (it doesn't matter whther this field is bound to a text box or not). eg:-
m_DataTable.Rows(0).Item("CommissionRatePerc") = "0.0000"
4. Put a breakpoint in the save and run the form.
5. Make some changes in the text boxes. Do not leave the last text box but rather click save while a text box whose contents you have edited still has focus.
6. When your code hits the breakpoint, query the value of the data table field that is bound to the text box you were editing when you clicked save - it will still contain the unedited value. Unless you do something about it that unedited value is going to get saved back to your DB.
We did get around this problem by explicetely setting the focus to another control on the form before saving. That worked most of the time because it prompts the text box to flush it's value back to the datatable (nb EndEdit does not work, although you'd have expected it to). However, and this is the reason I suggested you add a line of code that changed a value in the underlying datatable in step 3, if you change a value in code in this way before the value from the text box get's flushed back then it doesn't seem to matter what you do, the user's current edit is simply lost. They will still show in the text box, though, leading your user to believe that the change has been committed when it hasn't. Our final solution is that we never ever change a value in the adtaset in the code behind our toolstrip buttons. That's working but it's a pretty big restriction.
I'm not sure what I did, But I would like to get my toolbox back to normal where I can put it back on auto hide and such.
View 3 RepliesI'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Is this something that can be done?

I am new to VB and am trying to get my webbrowser1 auto refresh on a web page every few seconds. Is there a way to program a button to do this? I am also trying to get the browser to auto select "yes" when a radio button is present and then auto click "yes" on a message box when it pops up. Any ideas where to start?
View 2 RepliesI was wondering, in a toolstrip there is an overflow option

View 1 RepliesI have an MDI container with a ToolStrip. I ran into a naming issue with images/icons. I removed the lines of code referring to the image of the buttons in the MDIForm.Designer.VB file. Then, in the actual designer, I imported the image file as a project resource and added this image to each button.
When I view the MDI form in the designer, the buttons appear normally, but when I run the app, the buttons are not there!
Should i have not edited the designer.vb file directly? Can this be fixed without recreating each button?
I'm making a little webbrowser just for the heck of it, And i want to know if you can use a toolstrip for a bookmarks bar. I have it laid out, I just would need the code to make the buttons work.

I would like to make an example to insert a DateTimePicker control to a ToolStrip, but not like the examples I found on the forum, otherwise, so that when you want to add controls to the ToolStrip, within TexBox controls, splitButton, Label, ComboBox, etc. also ....., DateTimePicker control appears as a possible control to add,
[Code].....
