Label Staging Site To Prevent It From Being Used As If It Were The Production Site
May 18, 2012I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:
IDE: Visual Studio 2008
Server: Windows 2003 with IIS 6
Language: VB.NET 2.0
Importing CSV To Dataset On Site?
Dec 20, 2010How do I open a CSV file in VB? More specifically, I'm able to make this work on my local computer but when I put the site up on the web and copy the CSV to my site, it doesn't work.

This is the only way I know how to obtain the info I need for this equation but if generated again with no input from the textboxes I get an error. Is there anyway to bypass this if its generated a second time with no inputs?

I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.

The idea is to used the textbox1_change event to find a match in column A of table and once it finds the record, return the value of column B as label1.text. [code] In VB 2008 it's a lot different. I have set up the form the same way with the textbox and labels. I have made a dataset with (1) table (Table1) with (2) columns. Lets call them column A and Column B.I have added the dataset as a binding source to the form and also a table adapter. Jan 2, 2010I have a text file containing ten pieces of information (5 prices and 5 descriptions) I want to load the information from the text file in to the text boxes, so that it can be viewed and edited if required.
I've declared the filename, and various variables, but I'm not sure how to get the info from the file to my form?

Importing Text File In VB 08?
Jun 10, 2009I am working on a program for the Windows Mobile 6.0 system and using Visual Basic 08.I would like for the current txt file that I have, that is formatted as follows: "NOR400","277225","ZIMA 4/6 12OZ NR BOTTLES","07199077603",21.65,"cs",7.19,"pk","C4/6PK","12 OZ " to be imported and each item in the line will be assigned to its own txt box. I have been able to load up the file, in to one txt box, but am unable to separate the items in to their own box. Should I be using arrays for this?

Aug 19, 2011When the connections is successful (which it does when ran). Button 1 Writes to the text file (which it does successfully). Button 2 deletes the contents of the table and not the table itself (which it does successfully). Last, button 3 is supposed to read the text file and insert each field which is separated by a comma back into the existing table. However, at the "addComm.ExecuteNonQuery()" step I receive an error (An unhandled exception of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException' occurred in system.data.dll). I have spent many hours trying to find a solution but can't seem to get it to rewrite the text file back to the table.[code]...

Feb 9, 2010Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

User Can Change The Update Site With Out Building The Program Again With The New Site?
Oct 13, 2010When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.
