Should I perhaps use something other than a list view?

A couple of questions about check list boxes:
How to check/decheck all the item in the list How do you copy or delete all checked items in the list
I have a List(Of DateTime) items. How can I check if all the items are the same with a LINQ query? there could be 1, 2, 20, 50 or 100 items in the list.
View 1 RepliesI have a list with a boolean value as one of the properties. I need to check if every one of these is true. Now normally LINQ would give a nice clean answer here, but as I am using .NET 2.0 I can't use that.If there a nicer way to do this or am I going to have to do a for each loop and break out on finding a false?
Edit:Seems I could have been a bit clearer. I have an object in a list (eg List (Of MyObject)). There is a boolean property on this object called Processed.I need to check that all objects in the list are processed.So in LINQ I'd do:if (from o in list where o.processed = false select o).count = 0 then....
how to get the selected items from a check list box...i have 7 items in it, need to see which ones are selected...and how to clear the checks from the list box?
View 2 RepliesHow can I get all the selected values from a check list box? I tried using the name of the check list box (clbLike) but it only returns the first value checked. How can I return all values checked?
View 15 RepliesI am developing a VB web app in VS2005, and I can't figure how to do somehting. Can anyone suggest a way to gather up (non - postbacked) checked items (checkboxlist) on a web form (and of course write them to a file), and then start the report using a new window? If you suggest using htmlwindow.opennew, then I need to know what the constructor looks like for that. Can I get btnReport.click in my aspx.vb code to execute before it is sent to the report form by the "OnClientClick" asp command?
View 1 RepliesI want the program to check the number of items in a list box, then send use that number to form a FOR loop and send each to the serial port individually. It actually sends everything, but the program always crashes after the last one saying that the sdprintcount variable is an invalid number for the index. I don't get it as this happens no matter how many items are in the list, and it always crashes on the last one. It sends it, but then it says the index number is invalid.

I have on my form a combobox and a checkbox.What I want to do is when the user checks the checkbox all the values contained in combobox will be selected. So a multi-select for all items of combobox when the checkbox is checked.I tried this:
Private Sub CheckBox1_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CheckBox1.CheckedChanged
If CheckBox1.Checked Then
ComboBox1.SelectAll()
End If
End Sub
But only one element is selected with blue.
I've never really used the Check List Box in the past, however, for the recent program I am developing, I am using this control rather than individual check boxes scattered across the form.Anyway, I want to be able to program through code which items get checked in this checked list box. Specifically, I have a variable that contains the text of each check box that I want checked.With a normal check box, I can simply say:
Dim strNames As String
strNames = "John Doe, Mark Johnson, Mike Brown, Cindy Smith"
If strNames.ToString.Contains("Mike Brown") Then[code]....
I have a list view with 2 columns. I want the user to be able to add there own values to the listview and have them save so that they will always stay there.I would also like users to be able to delete specific items from the saved list.

I seem to be having issues with the selected index on a list box.
The list box is having various items inserted depending on the user selection. An example would be:
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "Item1")
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "AND")
[CODE]......................
This all work and displays without a problem. The issue I have is if I select the second of the two AND's. If I click the second "AND" in the list and then a button to fire a method, the selected index is always the index of the first "AND". Dim listIndex as integer = ListBox1.SelectedIndex
I can't work out why, the listbox itself will always show the second one as selected, but the action will happen against the first one.
I'm trying to change the background color of a node that is being hovered over while the user is dragging items from a list box.I've gotten both functions to work separately, but while the user is dragging, the NodeMouseHover event does not fire. Is there a way to do both?
vb Private Sub trvNavigation_DragEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles trvNavigation.DragEnter
If Me.CanMove(e) Then
e.Effect = DragDropEffects.Copy

Note: CanMove() is a function I made that verifies the dragged data. Nothing else. And I will change "Color.Blue" to a system color later.
how I would put a maximum of rows in a datalist. I have the program reading from a db and I just need to limit the amount of users in the view. The database is organizing the users according to rank and I have it so that it will read the users by rank in descending order (highest rank 1st) I need to limit it to 5 users. Is there a method for this? P.S. I put this here because I know that this is more of a vb.net code oriented question(limiting amount of data shown by an object)

how do u actually limit a listbox to say 10 items
View 1 Repliesi have 3 list boxes, 2 for selection one displays selection. i want a limit on input in lstbox3. i cant figure the right syntax etc. if lstbox3.count > 2 then is not accepted.
View 2 RepliesI have a simple ASPX page with a listbox and a button. Listbox has about 8-10 items in it. After the user selects an item (listbox is multi-select) and clicks the button, I'm iterating through the items to get the selected one like so:
For Each Item As ListItem In lstLetters.Items
If Item.Selected Then
Dim LetterID As String[code]....
When I step through the code, I select the first item from the listbox. I setup a watch on the 'Item' variable. The code will iterate through each of the items -- but Item.Selected always reads 'False'.I double-check the page, and sure enough my item is selected on the form.What the heck is going on?
How do I express, in the code, all the items in the textbox? So far all I could come up with was this:
Dim x
Me.Listbox1.Items.Item(x)
But it isn't working.
I have a listview, I click an item and I add some informations and I want that once I click the button the next Item it is selected.
View 6 RepliesI am trying to limit the size of my generic list so that after it contains a certain amount of values it wont add any more. I am trying to do this using the Capacity property of the List object but this does not seem to work.
Dim slotDates As New List(Of Date)
slotDates.Capacity = 7
How would people advice limiting the size of a list? I am trying to avoid doing a statement to check the size after an object is added.
Well i this code in a timer: listbox.index += 1 Witch works fine but when it gets to then end of all the number it gives me a error saying no more items to select. So how do i make it so that when it reachs the end of the list it starts over and
back to the top of the list?
Should: take items and fill checked list box with possible tours that the company can receive (this is done and working) i.e. for 2012, Titleist gets X, Y, and Z; so there are two checked listboxes for 2012: lvl 1 and lvl 2, username specific Both have lists "X, Y, Z" in that order, lvl 1 and 2 is for the permissions level, 1 is lvl 1 and 2 is alex's 0 marking for full details code goes through and checks if lvl 1 is marked, if so it checks the tour in the lvl1 check box if zero is marked, finds the tour in lvl 2 and lvl 1 and checks both items if a tour exists for company but not for the user, the checkbox exists but neither is checked

View 6 RepliesI have 200 dynamic textboxes.
I am trying to limit the user input to exactly 5 characters ( not more, not less ), and numeric only.
I have been trying this :
Private Function txtValid()
Dim str As String
For Each txt As TextBox In Panel1.Controls
[Code]....
But it always shows the last messagebox. Not all 200 textboxes will be filled in, so I suspect that it may have something to do with that, but I just need to stop the user from entering alphabetical characters, and the entered field must have a length of 5
