View 2 RepliesI have a list viewer set up in one of my forms which contains data inside it which is filled in from a database. When I want to clear the list viewer, it clears all values in the list viewer except for the first row. Now, if I close out the form and re-open it, the list viewer is officially cleared.
The code I am using is: lsvDocuments.Items.Clear
Is there another way I can clear the list viewer completely without having to close the form and re-open it?
In my Windows Form I have a ComboBox that is filled by a Stored Procedure with a list of names. I have the Combobox set for AutoComplete to "Suggest" and From "ListItems". When a user starts to type in and the AutoComplete does not find any matches in the listitems the user can tab out of the ComboBox and leave what they typed in the combobox even though it is not one of the Valid Items. Is there a way to check the Comboxbox to make sure of of the selected Items has been selected?
View 3 RepliesThis program is supposed to allow the user to check items in a checked list box. If the item is checked, it goes into the Completed List Box on the right. The program then adds the unchecked items to the Pending list box on the left. I keep getting placement values (e.g. O,1,2) instead of the strings (e.g. "Key Returned") in the list box results (see photo attached)

I've got a Checked List Box full of PC names that the user can check. I've also got a Combo Box that lists the location of the PCs - if the user chooses one of the locations in the Combo Box, it automatically selects all of the PCs in the Checked List Box that are at that location.
However, if that group of PCs are way down the list in the Checked List Box, you can't immediately see that they were checked.I'd like to know if there was a way to have the application automatically scroll/jump down to the area of the Checked List Box containing the PC's that were just checked.
I have a List(Of DateTime) items. How can I check if all the items are the same with a LINQ query? there could be 1, 2, 20, 50 or 100 items in the list.
View 1 RepliesCould not find this through Google or in SO questions.I have a checkbox listbox on my form. I want to filter my List by the list of selected Ids from that listbox that are checked, in SQL I would have done this like "Where TypeId In (1, 4, 5, 7)"... how do I do that in LINQ?
I feel like I am missing a really obvious answer, but cannot get it.
For argument sake... here is the what I have for sample data:
In Colors (List<of currentColors>)
ID, Name, TypeId
1, Red, 1
2, Blue, 1
3, Green, 2
4, Pink, 3
Selected Types 2 and 3 in CheckboxList: filteredColors

View 1 RepliesI have a list with a boolean value as one of the properties. I need to check if every one of these is true. Now normally LINQ would give a nice clean answer here, but as I am using .NET 2.0 I can't use that.If there a nicer way to do this or am I going to have to do a for each loop and break out on finding a false?
Edit:Seems I could have been a bit clearer. I have an object in a list (eg List (Of MyObject)). There is a boolean property on this object called Processed.I need to check that all objects in the list are processed.So in LINQ I'd do:if (from o in list where o.processed = false select o).count = 0 then....
I seem to be having issues with the selected index on a list box.
The list box is having various items inserted depending on the user selection. An example would be:
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "Item1")
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "AND")
[CODE]......................
This all work and displays without a problem. The issue I have is if I select the second of the two AND's. If I click the second "AND" in the list and then a button to fire a method, the selected index is always the index of the first "AND". Dim listIndex as integer = ListBox1.SelectedIndex
I can't work out why, the listbox itself will always show the second one as selected, but the action will happen against the first one.
How can I get all the selected values from a check list box? I tried using the name of the check list box (clbLike) but it only returns the first value checked. How can I return all values checked?
View 15 RepliesI am developing a VB web app in VS2005, and I can't figure how to do somehting. Can anyone suggest a way to gather up (non - postbacked) checked items (checkboxlist) on a web form (and of course write them to a file), and then start the report using a new window? If you suggest using htmlwindow.opennew, then I need to know what the constructor looks like for that. Can I get btnReport.click in my aspx.vb code to execute before it is sent to the report form by the "OnClientClick" asp command?

View 4 RepliesI want the program to check the number of items in a list box, then send use that number to form a FOR loop and send each to the serial port individually. It actually sends everything, but the program always crashes after the last one saying that the sdprintcount variable is an invalid number for the index. I don't get it as this happens no matter how many items are in the list, and it always crashes on the last one. It sends it, but then it says the index number is invalid.

I'm trying to make a game logger for MW2 so you can enter different stats and it will display those stats along with like your overall KDR for those matches and what not.Right now I'm just trying to do one match at a time meaning you enter your kills, assists, and deaths you hit the enter stats button then you hit the display stats button and a bunch of info shows up in the list box. Then you re enter different stats and it gives you the same stats but updates them for that match only. However, for some reason the list box isn't updating. It just keeps adding the kills, assists, and deaths together however the KDR does update.
vb

I'm storing images in a List Of Image. When I want to clear/remove all the images it contains should I dispose & set each item to nothing before using .Clear? Or can you just call .Clear? I'm doing it like this for now...
' remove all images in list of image named "images".
For i As Integer = 0 to images.Count - 1
images(i).Dispose()
images(i) = Nothing
Next
images.Clear()

View 2 RepliesWhen an item is selected from the list it displays in the text field of the combo box and I want to clear it without clearing the items in the list. I've tried [dropdown list_name].text = ""[Eg:- CBSelect.Text = ""] but it doesn't work since the text entering field in a drop down list box is read only.How should I do that. By the way, I'm coding in VB.NET 2005 so please give answers in VB.NET 2005.And my selection is from combobox its clear. same combobox property ( DropDown style = DropDown List ) text is not clear.

how to determine whether the property in question is a generic List(Of T)? If it is I need to loop the list itself.
I've experimented with GetType and TypeOf but have not managed to get anything working.
To clarify, I want to keep this generic. I do not want to specify the type of T, I need to loop the list items and call the ToString method on each item. T could be one of a number of different types (application specific reference types). Is it possible to do this without specifying types?

Another program I am working on for fun, I am basically shuffling a list inside a listbox, what I want to do is delete the rest but not sure how to go through with that. At the moment I have this: [code] Just contains the code, declarations outside weren't included.So anyway, once clicked, it will call on the function to basically shuffle in a for loop, I was wondering if I should (or how should) create another function and call it in the click button or have just a loop in the click button so it deletes half the list. What I am doing is I have 20 list of items, I want the program to shuffle the items and then deleting the lower 10, meaning, if I had 10 items and wanted 5 top, I'd want: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and deleting 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
