How can I make a highscore page with 2 arrays that store a name and a score. I want my highscore page to have thier name and score but also only have 10 high scores with highest to lowest. Also it must save so anyone that plays will see it.
View 3 RepliesI've tried to implement this highscore saving feature, so that when my application closes, the highscore saves within the my.settings storage function, and when my program loads up again, the same highscore loads up from this file. atm, it works ONLY within the application (I can close forms and it's still there, but if i end the program it resets to 0 next time it's loaded).it's basically 2 lines of code..1 for saving and 1 for loading..is this the best way to save a highscore for a game? I was initially thinking of making a database and linking it to that, but apprantly it's easier with the My.settings. even thought of using stremawriter but it's more uneccessary work over my.settings.[code]

I'm using Report Viewer(VS 2008) to make a report in VB.net. I add Table with Table Header, Table Detail, and Table Footer. Then insert a Table Group(table1_group1) and add expression =IntRowNumber Nothing-1/10 on that group. I check page breaks at end.
When I load the report its show normal :
page 1 : page header+ table header + table detail(10 list data) + page footer
page 2 : page header+ table header + table detail(5 list data) + table footer + page footer
But when I click Print Layout Icon its show an extra page(page 3):
page 1 : page header+ table header + table detail(10 list data) + page footer
page 2 : page header+ table header + table detail(5 list data) + page footer
page 3 : page header + table footer + page footer ( this is the error)
I also try to print the report and its print 3 page.
In my master page init sub I have a block of data/text being written to a control. The basic idea was that it should be available on every page (obviously). However, I have come across a situation in which I need this to NOT happen on a certain page. Is there anything I can do, short of making a new master page for this specific page, to make this work? I also use a basepage, if that ever needs to come into play.

how to make an array of buttons in vb .net 2005. It seems very different in vb6 'coz in vb6 you have just to add an index on its property but in vb.net there is no index property. Can it be made by designing in on the form just like copying and pasting on the form in vb6?

Most of the time, I return a List but in some functions and read only properties I return an array which also serves the purpose alright by kind courtesy of Extension Methods.
My question is am I violating any design principles by returning IEnumerable<T>s instead of specific types (e.g.: List<T>, HashSet<T>, Stack<T> or Arrays)?
I have to make a program that uses 2 arrays, one with the states name and one with the capitals names. I have to make it to where it randomly selects a state and asks you what the capital is, and gives you 4 choices in the 4 radio buttons provided. My problem is getting one of the randomly selected answer choices to be the Correct answer.

Because later I have to access Value1 in a manner that spells out each independantly. I have used some basic Structures to define 1 property and does something with it. But not 2 properties, and I am out of my norm on creating a Class to do something like this.

View 5 RepliesIn VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.
The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?

I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working

The problems I run into are: My textbox.clear isn't clearing. The text stays when I try debugging the program and enter my first name and password, it gives me the "error logging in, please try again" and I know that test/test is the first name and password.
