I have a gridview with 3 columns, only one column is going to be edited by the user. Whenever it is edited I'd like to set one of the other columns to the current time. A "time last updated" if you will.

VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.

how can i modify my object at run time? I have a form containing two panels; textbox, picturebox, and a label are in the panel1 where as panel2 is likely to be the user screen.. User drag the textbox from panel1 to panel2 and it is added there.. Now, i want to provide the facility to the user to modify the size using mouse similarly as we use to modify using mouse while making our forms.. View 4 Repliesi have a project that requires me to make a unit converter. the units should be defined within the program. i have reached a point where i save the defined units in a text file for a simple example converting meters to kilometers where it gets divided by 1000 i made the program to save the a string in a text file to represent that as:
meter,kilometer,0.001
which means it gets multiplied by 0.001 anyway the problem that i'm facing that when i want so save another units in the same file the previous units gets deleted. how to make the program update the text file that it adds the new defined units in the same file but before that it looks in the test file if the unit is already exists and if it does it will replace it with the new value

There is a varchar column in the database table in this format of military time 1230 or 1750 or 1320 and that field get populated into a gridview in asp. I need to convert that string to standard time. I have tried the DateFormatString and nothing seems to work.

I have successfully achieved this by using the TableAdapter.Fill method with VB in VS 2010 Express. However, the potential permutation of parameters is becoming too large to have a separate Fill method for every possible combination. Ideally I would like to construct the SQL SELECT statement at run time to reflect the user's options. Can the Fill select command be set at run time, and if so, how? I only need to build the WHERE clause, and the query is read only.
