Select Column With Filter Criteria Within A Row In A .Net DataSet?

Jul 27, 2011

I'm writing an app for someone where I am pulling in work orders table information. The information includes: worknum, fname, lname, customername, description, etc. I do not plan to update the data in this table, only to read from it.I'd like to display a combo box for the work order numbers. The user would start typing the information for the work order in and it would autocomplete based on what's in the list. As work orders are displayed in the combo box, I want to update the data in text boxes representing the various fields.

I'm thinking rather than query the database several times, it would be a good idea to create a DataSet with information for the work orders table within the last x months then query the data from that dataset. I know there is a DataSet.Select method, but it looks like it returns the entire row. Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values? For example, I'd like to do a select statement similar to this:

SELECT worknum FROM {WorkOrderDataSet} WHERE date >'{today-x}

The first part in curly brackets is meant to represent the work order dataset I create when first importing the data from Access. The second part in curly brackets will be replaced with variable data to represent a date to reference. I also don't think I'll need distinct because the workorder is unique (edit: is a primary key)Is it possible to retrieve just a column of distinct values from a DataSet with multiple columns? How do I do this?

Quickbooks/QBFC 8.0 - Multiple Criteria Of An Identical Request Filter Type?

Aug 18, 2009

I would like to query an Employee by matching First and Last name. Ideally, I'd like to be able to specify that in one EmployeeQueryRq QBFC object.

I think I have a start:

Dim EmployeeQueryRq As IEmployeeQuery
EmployeeQueryRq = requestMsgSet.AppendEmployeeQueryRq()
EmployeeQueryRq.ORListQuery.ListFilter.ORNameFilter.NameFilter.MatchCriterion.SetValue(ENMatchCriterion.mcContains)
EmployeeQueryRq.ORListQuery.ListFilter.ORNameFilter.NameFilter.Name.SetValue(LastName)

Is there any way I can add an additional NameFilter to the same request? Or am I stuck walking a response list for the other criteria (albeit a smaller one limited to containing at least one value)?

Use String.Filter With Multi-Value Parameters?

Sep 14, 2010

In the Expression builder window in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 under Common Functions -> Text -> Item, there is an expression called Filter.This appears to correspond with the Strings.Filter method in the .NET framework. The description of Filter is as follows: Returns a zero-based array containing a subset of a String array based on specified filter criteria.The Example is as follows:

=Filter(Parameters!MultivalueParameter.Value, "3", True, CompareMethod.Binary)

The example and description imply that you can inspect a multi-value parameter to see if at least one of the selected values is equal to the Match parameter. I haven't been able to get this to return anything other than #Error which implies the multi-value parameter is not a one-dimensional array. Parameters!MultivalueParameter.Value.GetType().ToString() returns System. Object[].

how to get this to work? I'm using the following work around to check if values were selected in the multi-value parameter:

=IIF(InStr(" " + JOIN(Parameters!MultivalueParameter.Value, " ") + " ", " 3 ", CompareMethod.Text), false, true)

I would prefer to use the Filter function if it supports this kind of check.

VS 2008 Multi-threding - Adding Multi-threading Facilities - Cross-thread Operation Not Valid

Feb 10, 2010

I'm adding multi-threading facilities for the first time. I have a function that is wrapped to be run in a separated thread. This function retrieves data (text) from a combobox and it works for sure without multi-threading.

When I call it as multi-threaded, I get the following error when I try to retrieve the data from the cmobobox: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'cmb1stBL' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.

It looks like a restriction of thread-safety... I assume that the child thread cannot read from his parent, to make sure that he doesn't change his parent data. So how can I read the data from the combobox? Should I read the comoboxbox data before calling the child thread?

VS 2008 : Filter The Results Of A Datagridviw Using The Bindingsource.filter Method?

The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.

C# - Ignore Error Without Using Try Catch()?

May 25, 2011

So I want to now if that possible for .NET languages to ignore error without using try catch construction ?

I can ignore warring with #nowarring 40 for example, can I ignore error ?

simply wanted to call system pause with this way

open System.Runtime.InteropServices
[<DllImport(@"msvcrt.dll")>]
extern void system(string str)
system "pause"

but got Error message

unbalanced stack. This is probably because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Make sure that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature.

So I don't care, it works. But can I just ignore this error ? without doing weird stuff like that :

try (system "pause") catch |_->()

Ok , I solved my problem by adding CallingConvention=CallingConvention.Cdecl, but what the question was about skipping exceptions, so and I still don't know if I can do it.

So maybe I need to tell some real reason to not be down-voted hard - sometimes it's matters for program to live even with hard errors occupations, but even sometimes you don't need to catch them. You need just ignore them...

How To Ignore Changes In Attribute Order When Using SVN

Mar 23, 2011

I use TortoiseSVN for versioning of my large VB Project in Visual Studio 2008. Once in a while, when editing one of the many typed DataSets, VS feels like switching the position of the attributes
msprop:Generator_ColumnVarNameInTableand msprop:Generator_ColumnPropNameInRow
In like nine THOUSAND places of the .xsd file. Sometimes I use a custom sed-script to reverse it again but most of the time I just commit it without knowing if there was any real change.

Can I prevent Visual Studio from messing with those attributes?
Can I enforce a specific ordering?
Or do I need some workflow within TSVN to ignore or revert such changes?

I wrote a small VB.Net Console app that scans thru the lines, sorting the attributes. It works on text alone as one cannot use xml parsing abilities without a massive increase in execution time and code size.
