I have a bound Datagridview with a column Quantity in which I want to enter numbers but dont want the user to type a decimal. E.g. 100 should be allowed, however 100.23 should not be allowed.Have set the DefaultCellStyle property of this column to
DataGridViewCellStyle { Format=N0 }
AND
Also in my Form Load event i have entered below code:
Maybe this is just a really basic question that everyone knows the answer to, and is why I couldn't find the answer. What I want to do is pretty simple. I want to declare a custom type that's just like a Single, except when you access the value, you get the value rounded to the second or third decimal place. Something like this:
Dim MyNumer as TwoDecimalNumber MyNumer = 1.124 Msgbox(MyNumber) 'This would pop up a box showing "1.12"
I am a programmer from Uruguay. I have read the other similar questions about my problem, but nobody has given the answer I need. I use VB .net 2005 and its datagridview. I bind it to a dataset which is populated with a table of MySql. And when I sort the numeric columns, it sorts them as string, not numbers. I have tried casting the data to integer in the sql statement, but it doesn`t work. I changed the format of the column of the datagridview to single or long but it didn't worked either. I really can't believe it is happening, it is a so common need! I thingk It should be totally automatic.
it should take either decimal values or integers and max length is 16if it takes decimal value as input then it should contain only 14 digits in decimal place and 2 digits in fraction part eg(1234567.12-valid) but (12345678.123 - invalid) and also(123456.12345- invalid)
I found a function that validates the numberic and decimal input for a textbox and works exactly like I want. But it does not let me limit how many numbers after the decimal. how to do this in the same function?
I am reading a data file and storing them in an array of string.Data is random, could be like "1","2","133,18" but sometimes there can be missing values like "?".Once I load the data in the array, I want to check if at least a majority (like 60% of them) are numeric values. If yes, then I wanna track down the higher and lowest value in the array, and output a range of 5.Loop through the array
If 60% of them are numbers (integers or decimals) then find highest value, find lowest value end if produce range
If for example lowest = 1 and highest = 100, range of 5 means 0,20,40,60,80,100 (so 5 ranges are 0-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80, 80-100).Also if the ranges turn to have decimals due to weird numbers, I would like to round them up.My problem is, in order to find highest and lowest when there are non numeric values in the array like "?", how should I handle those? I was thinking of something like Double.NaN but I would have to have an array of doubles.
I have a datagridview with 12 columns and 30 rows I want to use as a scoreboard for a game (no need to input or save data). Columns are for the players and rows for the scores of each turn played. Say player1 has a score of 10 I type it in in his column in row1, the 10 should show up in a label as his total. His next turn his score is 100, type it in row2 and the label should show 110 as total. Hope I am clear enough, is there anyone able to give an idea on how to do this (in code if possible)?
I am automating a datagridview that will hold the name of an object in one column and the number of units in the second column. The datagridview keeps recognising my numbers as a string and doesnt sort them accordingly. Any ideas how to inform the datagridview to sort by numeric?
I am using VB.NET 2005 and my problem is to sort binded DataGridView using numeric sorting (but for strings). As i understand problem is the same as in:http:[url].......or in http:[url].......My DataGridView.Datasource = DataTable. I want DataGridView to be able sorting numericaly when Column headers are clicked. This common function must be very easy, but unfortunately it is not :(. How can i get write sorting? I don't find answer in internet.Link1 is without explanable and i think it is for unbinded DataGridView and link2 is for for C+ or C#.
Examples:
Real Sorting when clicked on "Ports" header (other columns need write sorting too): "COM1" "COM10"[code].....
I have been struggling to find an answer to this problem:
I have a datagridview1 with 10 columns, 0-9
0-8 are for text, such as name, address, email
the 9th is a dollar amount. I want to sort the whole datagridview by this amount. But, what is happening is that when I click on the column it sorts the values out like this[code]...
I am using VB.Net 2008 application program. I am using DataGridView, where column types DataGridView TextBoxColumn. I have 3 fields. 1 field values are numeric, 1 field values are string and 1 field values are decimal. When I try to sort the string value column, it sorts correctly. But when i try to sort the numeric value column, it sorts as if its string value.
I'm trying to format a column of numbers is a datagridview and I'm having some problems. This is the code I'm using: dgv.Columns(5).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "n2" If the number I put in the cell is 100.50, it shows up as 100.00. If I try to edit it back to 100.50, I get a "value was either too large or too small for an Int32" error. The cell also is accepting Char data. I want to format the column so it only accepts numbers in a '#####.##' format.
I have an unbound datagridview that has 2 columns. Both columns contain numeric data only and will only go to 55 in count. How do you sort a Datagridview Column in collating sequence? I basically want to sort from 55 down to 1 and 1 to 55 in their respective numerical order.
I'm working on a Form that contains a datagridview and textbox, I need the datagridview detect any letter of the alphabet or numbers, then select the input and send the key pressed to input.
Is there a numeric text box, not an up-down box, a SIMPLE numeric box into which the user can place a number, 5 boxes actually, then on command have the five boxes added and the sum displayed?
i have finished my code and the program works but i need setup a few error messages incase a user inputs invalid data (non numeric, and negative numbers)i keep getting both errors at the same time when i input a negative or non numeric data. My program allows a user to calculate cell phone bill
I have a field in a sql table that is of datatype numeric(9,0).I have a time field on my input screen that is type textbox.I want to insert the time (which is type text) into the numeric field of my table. Do I need to parse this data somehow? Or will it just work as a text field? How would I do that?
Is there a way to transfer numeric data from one form to another?
For instance: form1 textbox1.text = form2 textbox3.text and i would like to add it to the number already in form2 textbox3.text. Is that to much to expect...I am very new to .net
I have the book "Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step", I am in the final chapters and have completed all of the walk through and demo programs thus far. I am a beginner but I also have a basic understanding of quite a few program statements and objects. My Goal: For the sake of simplicity I will use an example. I have a Tetris game, the player loses in the first level earns 25 points they click the save score button. , they play again tomorrow and do 1,000 levels and earn 25,000, now their score is 25,025.
Then they play my blackjack game, they gain 25,025 points when they start automatically from their Tetris game, they earn 25 points in blackjack click a save score button, now they have 25,050. [Thus far I have 2 games, and they both share a score that will need to be added to in the future]
I'm using access as my database and vb .net 2008.My problem is i change a field into 2 ecimal places and when i debug my program why my data in the datagridview not a 2 decimalExample : in access TotalCost = 200.00in vb form datagridview TotalCost = 200
How do I round my values to 2 decimal places in a datagridview.
I have a value column that is picked up from a SQL Server datafield type Money. In the database this sits as I want it to appear in the datagrid with 2 decimal places. In the datagridview it shows with 4 decimal places.
I am using Crystal Enterprise 10 to run Adhoc Query to generate reports. My database has data with 4 digits after decimal point. But, the Ad Hoc query report rounds the data to 2 digits and displays that. Is there a way I can change this default behaviour to show the data as it is without rounding it?
I only want to place the numerical data in an array. At the moment I have the following code to do this. [Code]. This code places the numbers in the data array when there is not any text in the file, i.e. when there are no headers. I would like to place the headers in another array, and then have the numbers in the array as in the code above.
