I need to open some external applications such as notepad.exe inside the VB.NET MDI form, and also I need to make sure that there is exactly only one copy of this running always.[code]....

View 2 RepliesWe have an existing VB.net application. Upon an event, we need to open a browser window. I'm able to open the browser window like this:
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("http://s3web01/suggestions?item=" + strItem + "&co=" + strOrder)
Upon another event, we need to refresh the browser window with different parameters for strItem and strOrder.
If I call the same code above, it opens a new tab in the browser window. Is there any way to refresh the same browser window that was previously opened?
im new to coding (started coding last month) so im a little stuck on how to do this, im making some emulation programs to learn coding with, and a part of it is to point the app to a .iso/.bin file and scan the data inside of the iso/bin to check if a file exists.[code]My issue is i cant find any class examples, or any information etc on how to code it so my application can see the data inside of the iso/bin instead of just see'ing the iso/bin file, so that i can then check the data inside the iso to see if the file exists etc.Im a novice still at coding so making a new class myself to look inside the iso/bin is to complex for me.

View 2 RepliesI have made a form that exports to xml and refer's to a xsl sheet to open into html format. Now what I want to do is build this program with these xml and xsl files in it. I also want the user to push submit and the xml inside the build opens up.
I understand the Diagnostics.Process.Start but for some reason its not referring to my xsl file its just loading all the values in order. My question to yall is how do i set a path inside my application for the xsl and xml to refer to each other.
Is it a dll i need to compile if so any guidance their. Im a beginner and am still learning.
I Have one Windows Application in which i have one MDI Form (Say App1). And I too have another Windows Application in which I have a Child Form (Say App2). So now i want to Call App2 from App1 .. View 2 RepliesI'm developing an application with Visual Studio 2008 (with visual basic), first of all, I'll give a brief of what I'm planning this module will do.
It's an accounting application, that I use to administrate some of my company's movemets. The application links directly with MS SQL server 2005, and sends queries to the database like: client name, employee Id, transacion type etc. Right now I'm developing a contracts module, wich is intended to be used with Microsoft Word 2007. We want the module to do the following: (It's a contract document; the document should get the variables from the application like contract type [that would change the template of contract used in microsoft word depending on the type], Client name, Salesman name, today's date, name of the company's representative)
1) After the data has been captured from the application (the application has a capture module that sends the info to the database), instantly send the capturer to microsoft Word, to a layout that has variable fields that should fill themselves with the database information ( I don't have a clue on how to do that )
2) The capturer should be able to change text in the contract layout and fix the variables info in case they were misstyped, adn when he/she saves the document; if there were any variables edited, they should get updated in the database; and the application should be saved with a name that has variables on its name ( 1)today's date in DDMMYY format, 2)First 2 letters of the client's name, 3)last 3 digits from tye contract number), save the file in a directory where all contracts are in .docx format (could use any frmat, it actually doesn't matters), and send the file location to the databse; to a table field named "file" wich only has the file's route.
3)From my application, when consulting the data, give the app access to the file directly; simply by getting the query form the database.
How do i open, for example .exe file, when i click the button, but not in new window, in my VB form? I have no idea how to do that .

What I want to do (actually I am not sure how to do it, or is there a way to do it), when I choose one of the value in one of the column inside the table, I want it to open a form that contain data(details) based on that value.

View 3 Replieshow to redirect outputs from console to a window form text box,but the console application I'm using is always running real time, thus my .net application hangs until I close the program that is read real time.The code displays the application to a 2nd form with a textbox multi line. Until I close that my entire program hangs and the console application monitored runs.
How do I code it to:
1. Run real time without hanging the entire program.
2. the console app must run at all times. (figured how to hide/ and no window created for it)

View 2 RepliesWhat I'm wanting to do is gonna sound pretty strange. I play a game called Wonderland Online. Usually while playing, I will have between 3-4 instances of the game going at the same time, each instance running a different character. Also, I will have open another program that I wrote that helps me figure out what I need to manufacture a certain item in the game. The running game is an 800x600 window, and I have all 5 of these windows open at once, where I am constantly moving things around, minimizing and maximizing.I want to create a app that would basically be a frame for the game. Creating the frame would not be hard, but this is the first time I have tried to get an external EXE to basically run inside of my program. Is this even possible? And if so, I would imagine I could run multiple EXEs and flip between them inside my frame. I could integrate my manufacturing program into the frame, as well as control which instance of the game is visible inside the frame.

I have mdi application, on main form which is mdi container and has a tree view. i open the child form on afterselect even of treeview. the issue i'm facing that i open the form but focus remain on tree view until i click on the the form. my question is how i can give focus to form rather it stays on treeview. i tried frm.focus also activatemdichild(frm) no sucess.

View 2 RepliesMy program has many forms that can be launched from the main form, and when launching a form, I need for my program to know whether or not there is already an existing instance of the requested form open before it launches the requested form.
So, if I have form "Search" with button "View" that launches form "Details", I need to know if the "Details" form is already open when the user clicks the "View" button.
Apparently, if I had developed my application as an MDI application intead of an SDI application, I could just do "If frmDetails.visible = True then DoStuff()", but the Details form's Visible property always comes back as False, even when the form is already open. If the form is always being reported as not being visible even when it is indeed visible, what method do I use instead to find out that the form is open/visible/in use?
