i have a program and i need to take some images and add some points lines or something with layer system and i wanna save my picture and layers couse i can delete my lines or points.
View 1 RepliesI am generally following this tutorial, the main differences being I'm using 2008 R2 Express and Windows Forms, he is using 2005 & ASP.NET Web Site:'m building a minimalist Windows Form project for learning purposes. So I'm using a 1-table database with 2 columns, ContactID & Name. I added a dataset file, 'ContactsDataSet.xsd' to my project and added a single minimalist table adapter with just a fill() & getdata() method.Then I added a DataGridView control and connected it to the ContactsDataSet to confirm it was working and that worked fine. I ran it and it filled up with data as expected. Everything up to this point was auto-generated code.

View 3 RepliesI am working in VB.NET defining my own classes. I have 5 classes, Policy, Coverage, CoverageCollection, Layer, and LayerCollection. Policy has a bunch of data items, one of which is of type CoverageCollection. Coverage has a bunch of data items, one of which is of type LayerCollection.

Then I do like "dim p as Policy". So, iIn order to get to properties on a Layer, I reference it like p.cov(0).lyr(0).face. What I am trying to do is add a readonly property to Layer that is calculated using some Layer information but also using something from Coverage (or even Policy). I can take this in as a parameter to the property, but I think there should be a way to get at Coverage/Policy information since I am "under" it already. Is there a way to do this?
As a side project, I'm trying to see how much of Microsoft's Paint Application I can recreate. So far I have it where I can "paste" the image into the application. What I am stuck on however is allowed the image to be edited - being able to edit the individual pixels. editing a picturebox...i have a class called panelArray and it builds an array of panels based on the number of panels i pass it...each panel has 4 labels and a picturebox added to it when the panel is created. I'm able to edit the labels by using something like:

Since there are 5 objects total (1 picturebox & 4 labels) i thought i would be able to just use the same strategy for the picturebox, but it doesn't like using Image in the same manner it uses .Text?
How to develop a 3 tier soution saying this. If you want to make a simple 3 layer system (3tier is for a longtime complete misused by marketing from Microsoft, 3 tier needs something like a Unix computer) However, do this: start a Windows Form project, then do 2 times File -> Add New -> Project -> Class Library while you name one DataLayer and the other BusinessLayer. While the DataLayer project is selected, you do Add New Item and take the Component (give it the name DataBaseHandling). Then while that component is open. In top Data -> and than what you want to select, however create in fact the DataSet and Adapter in that.
Don't forget to set in your main project a reference using Poject -> Project too your two datalayers. It is easy and don't need all those images, those you will see pasing by doing this. Try to avoid to use your DataLayer in your BusinessLayer which is often done, because then those layers make in fact no sence. i am not an expert The bussiness and datalayer in the same solution really? I have a VB.NET Windows Forms app with a logo image on the form as a System.Drawing.Bitmap inside a PictureBox.I used the Visual Studio Designer to add the logo .bmp image so I don't currently have any VB code doing anything with it.I'd like to make the current logo a clickable object/button so when I click on it a file browser dialog opens and I can select a new image to replace the current image.The current image is a local resource and is set in a PictureBox as a System.Drawing.Bitmap.How would I replace that System.Drawing.Bitmap with a file selected from the file browser dialog?

Another area i am now stuggling with is navigating through records one at a time using a database. I am making a quiz and I want the form to populate one row at a time. When Next button is pressed/called, I want to the next row to populate the form, so on and so forth.Problem is I don't really know how to do that.

I want to use these buttons to navigate the rows of the recordset.However, I have problem in the codes - when I click the PREVIOUS button, it will tell me that either EOF is true. But if I click the NEXT button, it moves to the next record once.... Clicking on NEXT again, does not move to the next record..

What is the best place (event/procedure) to use the newest record when navigating from record to record on a form.
For example, I want to do a calculation on 2 text boxes that are bound to a dataset. This calculation will be done each time a new record is navigated to.

in a timer and that sometime ended up with error and sometime the browser shows a blank screen and keep on refreshing and other times it shows an error and the application stop responding.
It has come to my attention even as a novice programmer, that there comes a time when you need to step it up a notch and take my programming to another level. For me I think that time has finally come in trying to learn how to use classes properly.
I suspect this is a common rookie fear and the leap to move out of the Form1 Class, or off Form1 is a daunting one. I learned how to add new forms many years ago and to get them to interact with one another in a crude manor, but never really mastered the whole concept of classes.

I am developing an intranet site using VB.net 2005. I have a list of reports and their URL's located in a table. The list is displayed to the user using a Gridview control with select turned on. when the user selects one , the selected index changed event triggers looking up the URL from the table and stores it in a session variable. the problem i have is that i now need to open a new web browser window and display the page.
I tried using the envDTE.ItemOperations.Navigate but all of the information provided for this process is written in VB6 and VB2003. In 2005 the DTE proces is not native and when you assigned the ENVDTE.Itemoperatiosn to a shared variable (or any type) and
then try to navigate you get the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
so i tried to create an instance but when i try:
ItemOp = DTE.ItemOperations or
ItemOp = EnvDTE.ItemOperations
it gives me an error indicating that this is not possible. My quesion is, does anyone have the correct syntax for using the envDTE.ItemOperations.Navigate instruction from Visual Basic.Net 2005? None of the microsoft pages or microsoft books provide correct syntax. Or does anyone have any substitute code that can navigate a user from a protected sub in one page to a new web page?
