I've written a bunch of queries that bring back a set of results that look like the following. I have a user level column in an employees table which I'm trying to pull the value from. Only one result (number) will ever be returned. For instance the query will be like: Select username, userlevel from employees where username = "joe" So i'd be bringing back just the level, say 7.
I have a form that searches the computer for a particular .xml file that will have the same name in different folder dates. Set in this format[code]...
My program pulls a weeks worth of records at a time and filters it into daily columns on a form, the problem is that there are ~80 fields to be filled in this manner and as far as i know each one has to be check for null before it can be filled. Could someone tell me if there is a faster way to do this? Below is my current code for one set of fields.
Private Sub cboDigit_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboDigit.SelectedIndexChanged, cboOffice.SelectedIndexChanged, dtEndDate.ValueChanged, dtStartDate.ValueChanged
I created a SQL database using the migration tool.I am converting my access forms to VB.net (VS2008).I am wondering if I create a single dataset in studio to the database or do I create a dataset for each form (query)? I am trying to determine what the best solution is. Many of my forms have drop downs that are populated using queries from tables.
I am trying to work with an access database. If this line pulls data from a dataset and puts it into a textbox: TextBox1.Text = Me.A_DataSet.a_Table.Rows(0).Item(0).ToString How would I pull the field name? For Example, in this database I have 3 fields:
I am a new user. Apologies if I am posting this in wrong place and also if it is repeated one. I have few queries:
1.Is it possible to store multiple tables in a single DataSet?
2.If yes then it is a good practice? or should i prefer having separate connection object, separate DataAdapter and separate DataSet for each of the table to be accessed? I am new to VB.NET and using VB.NET 2008 Express and MS-Access 2007 as backend for my project.
Dim conn As New MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection(ConnectionString) conn.Open() Dim sql = "SELECT * FROM users" Dim com = New MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand(sql, conn) Dim ds As New DataSet("dsUsers")
update table1 set rating=@rate where User1=@userid / user2=@userid
so i need to write a single query which satisfy the condition for both the users user1 and user2.if i pass the @userid ,if it matches the user's id it should update user1 record. if the id whcih i pass is user2's id then it should update the user2 rec.How to check for this condition in a single query...
somehow combine the results of separate Fill queries on a single dataset?Basically, I'm trying to implement a 'Filter' function, whereby, the user can filter the records in a DataSet according to specific criteria.
I am using a Strongly Typed Dataset as DAL. I want to return a single column from my table for that i wrote the code as
SELECT DISTINCT Floor FROM Room WHERE (Building = @Building)
But when i previewed the data, it shows me all the columns of the table with Null Value and the column with primary key has -1 value. This condition raise an Exception when i link this query to a ComboBox ..
How can i do a workaround for this? I two databases(.sdf). Database A has table A1 Database B has table A2 Table A1 is an exact duplicate of A2 minus 3 columns My dataset(.xsd) is based off of tableA2 in Database B. I can fill all my tableadapters in Database A and all info in table A1 using the dataset. My problem lies when I do TableAdapter.Update() for Table A1(Since the dataset has the 3 missing fields) it tries to update table A1 with info that isn't there and I get an error. How can I update table A1 and ignore the 3 missing columns using the single dataset? Or is TableAdapter.Update() designed to Update the Database with all columns found in the dataset ?
I have a string like "Hello'World" and a Data Table with some records in it. One of those records is "Hello'World".he problem is, when I do a .Select in the Data Table, it only tries to search for the "Hello" part and throws an error on "World" because it interprets the ' (single. cuote) like the closing cuote on sql.DataTable.select("text = 'Hello'World'")I have gone through msdn doc, and it says I can escape some characters with [] brackets or f.slashes , but I just can't figure out: .select("text = 'Hello[']world'")
For a school programming project we are supposed to create a database with 2 tables country, and continent.then we populate country with every country name, population and continentID. For continent we populate with each continent name.
i have completed this step, and i am able to run a linq query to display all countries and corresponding continent into a datagridview. My problem arises because we are supposed to display each record one at a time, and be able to cycle through one at a time. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this.
for example if i made a query to select all countries in africa, i want to beable to display the name of the country, and population in textboxes. then have a next button that will go to the next record.
I am trying to do a SQL query that checks for the presence or absence of a character's occurance in a field / column as a condition to retrieve the row. In this case I only need to test for existance of the specified character and in a similar query to test for the non existence. Not where it is or how many, just is it there or is it notI am using VB express.net 2008 and it uses, I think, MS SQL Server 2008.Using VB's instr() I can tell straight away if a string does or doesn't contain a character, but I would like to know this before I retrieve the row.
using the
WHERE .... and [mytable.myfield] LIKE 'Q' or WHERE .... and [mytable.myfield] NOT LIKE 'Q'
produces a result, but not a correct result. It does something but I can not say that it is working even part way.CHARINDEX gets an undefined function error MATCHES also gets an undefined function error?CONTAINS looks like it should work but I am still getting sytax errors with it, so I don't know how to use that predicate yet.
I am using vb.net and sqlite as database. I am using below scenario to insert multiple records in database using a single query.
INSERT INTO TableName (FirstCol, SecondCol) SELECT 'First' ,1 UNION ALL SELECT 'Second' ,2 UNION ALL SELECT 'Third' ,3 [Code] .....
For less records it is working very well. But when I am inserting about 800 records at a time, executenonquery is throwing the following exception: SQLite error Too many terms in compound SELECT.
I am using datarepeater on my windows form to populate records from a temp table. I want to write query to insert records for an employee in a single row rather than multiple rows. For example: I am displaying records of one month only. so i know the definite number of columns. Normally if we use select * from Temp ' it will display and i can populate in a datagrid.
I want to know if it is possible to perform a mySQL query to get a single record (searched for by ID) and then split each field into a seperate text box.I think im ok with the SQLQuery to get the record. its the splitting it into individual text boxes that im strugling with.
I have a LINQ query that groups and counts on a single dgv cell. What I want to do is group and count on 2 dgv cells. So I modified my existing query by adding a SELECT statement highlighted :
CODE:
But I am getting an error on the second select variable stating: Range variable 'Value' is already declared
What I have read shows that I can select more than one variable.
Ok, the basic situation: Due to a few mixed up starts, a project ends up with not one, but three separate databases, each containing a portion of the overall project data. All three databases are the same, it's just that, say 10% of the project was run into the first, then a new DB was made due to a code update and 15% of the project was run into the new one, then another code change required another new database for the rest of the project. Again, the pertinent tables are all exactly the same across all three databases.
Now, assume I wanted to take all three of those databases - bearing in mind that they can't just be compiled into a single databases due to Primary Key issues and so on - and run a single query that would look through all three of them, select a given set of data from each, then compile those three sets into one single result and return it to the reporting page I'm working on.
we are using Punch Machine for Attendance with zkemkeeper.dll and geting AttLog using Vs.net 2010.How can Get Records from SQL Query? my table structure like this
How do you query a Dataset with SQL queries? I'm using VB with Visual Studio 2005. I've got a large library of SQL queries I'd like to run in-memory on a Dataset. All the examples in the documentation show how to "query a dataset with code," but none show how to run a simple SQL query against a dataset. I've seen other threads that say you can do so, but no code examples. Can anyone provide sample code to show how you would run a simple SQL "Select..." query (using the same syntax you would use to query a database) on an in-memory dataset?
I have created a query in the DataSet Designer and now I would like to run this in a code to get the result of the query. Its just number which I get back and with this number I would like to continue working in the code.I know when I have a field connected with the Data sources I can launch it like this:Me.ProduccionTableAdapter.DowntimeHorasTrabajadas(Me.SHFDataSet.Produccion, datefrom:=DateTimePicker_From.Text, dateto:= DateTimePicker_ To.Text)but how do I do this when I dont wanna associate it with a text field and I just want to get the value into a variable?
I have access Query have more than one table. I want to insert into it. I cannot insert into it by CommandBuilder coz CommandBuilder for one table only so how can I do that using DataAdapter with dataset.
The SQL string won't return data from Access. I've tested this exact SQL String in Access and it works fine.First of all, Am I getting a SQL query from Access in the proper manner?Second... should I be using a stored procedure for this? Or is making a query from tables like this a good practice? Third, if I'm doing it right, why won't Access query return and fill my dataset? These are the results I'm getting.
I have an application that uses bound controls on the form. I have a dataset associated with my form and have a custom query written for one of my tables that is supposed to get two fields in the database and order them by their ID in descending order. However, when I run the program, the bound controls do not contain the last record, but the first.
I have a dataset called Me.VelocipedeDBDataSet and there is a table within the dataset called Contact. How can i check the contact table and output the results of rows which have a value for an attribute called AccntRep that matches a global variable known as repNo
I had though that the solution may be something like
If Me.VelocipedeDBDataSet.Contact.Rows.Contains(repNo) Then Panel3.Visible = True MsgBox("Account Rep Found", MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Account Rep") End If
I query on the data bank with Ado, put everything in a Dataset, changes the data and then lets it write in the table. How can it be that is written in all lines except the first one? I do not find any error. Someone can help me? Here the code:
