I would like to read information on a Web Open Connect Screen into a VB program and send appropriate key stroke based on the screen been presented.
I am able to send to the screen using SendKeys but I don't seem to be able to manipulate the cursor and read the data at the cursor position.
I have conquered the problem of the database however what i need is the serial port data sent to a database and outputted on screen however i keep getting cross thread errors ..

I am currently working on a menu driven console program that so far has 4 menu options of checking internet connection, decrypting/encrypting a message, calculator, and a logout, and i am wondering about a few current things.
1. How do i make it to where, when a program starts for the first time, it asks for a user to enter in his data, like signing up for a site for the first time?
2. How do i make it to where the program will save the data entered, and does not delete when the user closed the program.

I wanted to make a screen recorder (not screen capture) program, but I am not entirely sure how to get it started. I have seen many videos and things on how to make one, but all of these just take multiple pictures and then don't compile them into a movie file, and I don't want to take many pictures (unless that is the only way possible.) I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express and I have looked at the Windows Media Encoder, but I can't seem to figure out how to use/implement it (yes, I have downloaded and installed it.) Maybe I can use some kind of ActiveX control?

I've been trying to find a solution to my problem for quite a while. I need to build a program that reads data off of the screen, recognizes characters and images and then acts based on what characters and images are. For example, I provide it with a picture of a dog, a picture of each possible character, and it would be able to read the screen and tell me where the dog was, where the characters were and in what order, etc. Is there a free library for this out somewhere? I prefer something that can be used in C# or Vb.net

I'm confused a bit. I need to open a file that another program regular reads and writes. I want to make sure that I open the program in such a way that it will not harm the other programs access in any way. My program can handle any errors created by the other program changing the file out from under me - I just need to make sure that when I open the file the other program can continue to read, write, delete, etc without even knowing about my program. FYI this is simply a weather application where the "other" program is updating a table file with current weather data - my program reads that data and sends it to another application... I am making a web application in ASP.NET 4.0. For some reason I need to open a web site always in full screen. If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB
BTW this issue occurs in any MS office program when the VB.Net (or even VBA) is processing information.Example: In Excel, a worksheet is displayed on the screen. I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. My expectation is that the previously displayed screen would stay static as if I left my desk to get a cup of coffee; came back and the same ole Excel worksheet was still there?Of course, setting VBA Screen Updating = False accomplishes two goals: 1) speeds up processing and 2) saves the user from seeing unnecessary "garbage-processing" steps.Why does VBA or VB.Net ScreenUpdating = False not freeze the screen at the time of its invoking?

View 2 RepliesI currently have a program that I made which opens other apps packaged with an installer. I have set the installer to install everything to the Program Files folder. However, not all computers have a C: hard drive. I have a way in which they can enter their drive letter in one form then in the next form it remembers the drive and will take them to the program. The problem is my program stores the drive letter in an xml file. On the startup of the program it looks in the xml file to find the drive letter, if there is no drive letter the form opens then lets the user set his drive letter. View 2 RepliesI have a problem reading data from an RFID-reader. I connect to the reader by tcp and wait for DataAvailable to be true, then reading the data until I got a end of data character. Then I just go back and waiting for a new DataAvailable. This is done in a own thread for the function.
There seems to be some kind of timeout, If I don't got any data in a couple of minutes, then it just sits there in the do/loop waiting for DataAvailable. I hold the card to the RFID reader, it beeps, but there is no data available. I don't get any exeptions, and the information says that the clientsocket is still connected. Are there anything more I can check?
If I put the card to the reader in a minute-interval it seems as this will never occur. So 2-3 minutes idle:ing seems to do this.
