VS 2005 - Data On Tabcontrol Does Not Connect To The Data Until I Click On The Tab?
Dec 9, 2009
I had all my fields on a form. THey became to many for the one form, so i moved them to a Tabcontrol. I split the fields over 5 Tabs. I did not change the code. Now , when i load the form, it does not connect to the data until i click on the tab. How can i fix this.
currently i am create windows application form for staff registration for my assignment, this form is contain textbox which are connected to database.Every time i run this form ,i can see data in the textbox ,which is from column in my table database. My question is how i can make the textbox is blank every time i run my staff registration form.I dont want that data which i save in database is been seen because this form is use to add new data in database.i am using visual studio 2005 and sql 2005.Here i attach some picture when i run my form application, there is data in every textbox.
I am INSERTING into 2 different tables with 2 different buttons (One after the other by clicking each button). I have a form with 1 button directly on it to INSERT into tblCustomers from a field that is directly on the form as well. I then have a TabControl with another button with other fields (5 to be exact).
After I add data to the data base by filling out the field on the form and then by first clicking the add button located directly on the form and then add data to the fields directly on the TabControl the data will not INSERT itself into the tables in the data base for the 2nd table. Only the first table get data in it and not the one related to the TabControl.
BUT if i add data in the TabControl and then click the button on the TabControl it adds data into to the 2nd table. Is there a way to refresh my program so that it will accept both the "forms data" and the "TabControl data"?
I'm trying to connect a VB application (2010) to an MS Access DB by adding a data source from the data menu but I receive this error message "The connection you selected uses a local data file that is not in the current project.Would you like to copy the file to your project and modify the connection ?
If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB
I am developing a program that will contain a TabControl on a form. The TabControl will have multiple TabPages that will represent forms used in the mental health field by clinicians. What I have done so far is created a SQL Express 2005 database that contains a table for each TabPage. To start off, I am working with only 2 tables to see if I can make this work. The tables are called EvalPage1 and EvalPage2. Each table includes a field called ClientID which I have named Key Indexes. I am also using these fields to create a relationship:EvalPage1.ClientID (Parent) and EvalPage2.ClientID (Child)
The problem That I am encountering is when I use the BindingNavigator to enter and save a record, it only works for EvalPage1 and not for EvalPage 2. Here is the code that I am using:

I would like to know the best, or standard, way to accomplish real-time client updates in a small multi-user application using an access data table as a data source.
Specifically, this application will be used by 3-4 people. It uses a datatable which is filled on form load and bound to a datagrid at design time. The datatable is stored on a shared drive. The data table on the shared drive is updated in two ways:
1) Users can update the datagrid which then updates the datatable on the shared drive via the data adapter's Update method.
2) A server application does some work on some text files, periodically updating the data table.
I need the clients to reflect the changes to the data table on the shared drive as closely to real-time as possible. I know that the data table stored in memory on the client is disconnected from the data table on the shared drive, so I must query again to get the updates.
I have two questions:
1) Is there an alternvative model I can use which is connected, and which will automatically reflect the updates in the data table on the shared drive?
2) If not, what is the best way to check for changes in the data table (so I can know when to call the data adapter fill method)? I am planning to poll the drive for a change to the .mdb file, raise an event and then fill the data adapter when the event is triggered. I am using this method successfully now to check for changes to a text file in another application, and I know how to implement it
I have a form where the user chooses a facility and then the list of patients for that facility are displayed in a data grid view. When I click to add a resident, the last name field on the data grid view is highlighted in blue below the last record that already exists. If I try to start typing without clicking in that cell, the facility changes - it looks like the control is still in the facility drop down box. How can I code it so that the user can just start typing in the data without having to physically click in the cell to start entering data?
have made a connection to a database through VB and i was able to extract a single value from a record and display it in a datagrid table, but i don't know how to display that value in a textbox. i tried doing e.g. txtABC.text = datagrid123.item but it seems that the values cannot be converted between the datagrid and the textbox.
I write this code to connect to sql database and to retrieve data but its not working
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Well the problem is probably me not doing something right but we will se.I have a form w/ just a datagridview on it. I have set the data gridview to connect to a table. I adjust the querry to only return 1 row.So it looks like select * from table where ident=@realident..so the problem is i want to use a variable from the form to be the @realident and i want it to auto load when the form loads not have to type it into the tool bar like you have to do by default. Also once the data is returned I would like to be able to edit a field or two in that data and have it save back to the db.
i just want to ask if you know any links regarding Crystal Report Tutorial, Or Video Tutorial of it that will teach on how to create a Crystal Report. If someone who can teach me on how to create it then it would really be fine for me.. Im looking for hard coding not just using the connection properties. I want to know on how to connect the crystal report to a database and gets all the data that I need and displays it. Designing the crystal report. Using TSQL if possible.
I need to connect Access 2007 Data base using VB.net application. (This is an AddIn working underAutodesk Inventor 2012 64 Bit). When I use a ODBC DSN (under C:WindowsSysWow64) I need to compile the application with targetas x86. But Inventor 2012 64 bit needs target as x64 or Any CPU. So ODBC - DSN not working. When I tried OLEDB as "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=database.mdb"It returns with an error Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 not registered.
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source=c:database.accdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password;" This also gives the same error.
I'm just in the process of upgrading to the .net system and beginning my first database project. When i try usng the Database connection Wizard i get the following error "See attachment"The data base is a .mdb file. Seem to work fine in VB6

Everyone seems to have their own TCP dilemma so I figured I'd ask this here and see what the pros have to say. Basically I need to connect to an IP 192.168.5.100, port 8000 and listen for all the data that is being sent out. When I Telnet to 192.168.5.100 8000, it shows as...
I'm by far a VB expert, but I've used tabcontrols before without having with happen. VB 2010.I have a tab control element on a form, and on the tabcontrol, tabpage1, I have 21 databound controls that are being pulled from an Access database. Each control has it's own table adapter that is being filled from the same dataset. I also have a save button and a cancel button outside tha tabcontrol on the form itself.
When I debug the app, the forms load correctly and I can see my databound elements containing data. I can click on a single control on the tabcontrol page. Whatever control I click first, such as the gender combobox, becomes the only control I can click on. I can change tab OK, and I can click on the buttons off the tab control (although there is no underlying code for those buttons yet). However I can't click a second control on the form, and I can't close the form without closing the parent form. There is no other code on the trouble form other than the tableadapter fills.
I have this codes here whereby my objective is to develop a writing network applications of programming, a means of sending data to a message board(messaging system). My problem is I couldn't connect it to the server's IP address and port num to send a data through a message board. However I could only display at Form2 txtReceive. Text = HexConvert.Data_Asc_Hex(sData),
Whereby this code could only convert whatever data(txtSend) that is being typed in, could then convert hex decimal into a textbox(txtReceive). The final result that I would want to achieve is to be able to display the at the textbox(txtReceive) is the <"message protocol"> & <"hex message that is being typed"> & <"parity bit"> into the txtReceive box.
Form form 1, my codes are.... Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Const portNo As Integer = 1234 Dim client As TcpClient [Code] .....
I am struggling a lot with this code I am trying to get to work. I have successfully made a connection with the TcpClient object to two separate remote machines and transmitted data to them. Essentially, I'm trying to connect to Machine 1 on port 80 and send a GET request. Once I send the request I want to keep the connection alive so that the software on the other side can send me data when it is ready. How do I keep the connection open and read data in each time it is made available in the stream? I have tried and tried using NetworkStream.Read and BeginRead to no avail. The closest I have come was sleeping my thread every 30 seconds and then doing another GET request which is not needed. Here is the current code I have for reading from the stream. I know I need a loop in here somewhere:Note: RemoteSocket is my TcpClient object that is connected by this point
Dim serverStream As NetworkStream = RemoteSocket.GetStream() rqst = "GET /Control/Clip_Forwarding_Stream?CameraName=" & URL_Encode(Name) & " HTTP/1.0" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf
I have a .dll file ( MySql.Data.dll ) that I'd like to be able to open, view and possibly edit the database but I can't find any examples or documentation on doing so.
1- Let's I have a form with a TabControle and 2 tabpages, is it possible to set the tabpages so that if i go from tabpage1 to tabpage2 that all data on tabpage1 gets reseted. The same thing if I go from tabpage2 to tabpage1 that tabpage2 is reseted. Also if I press on tabpage1 or 2 that the form changes to a certain height.
2- On the same form I created a button to open a new form. This new form is a notepad look a like. What I want is that the moment I open the second form that al the input from form one is showed on form 2. So that I can save it or print it.
