I can't get it to display the computed values in the label fields when I run the form. I've been through the example code provide to me, my textbook, google (how I found DaniWeb), and I've been over the code probably 50 times and the problem just isn't jumping out at me and it doesn't generate any errors or trigger the try catch, so I'm asking for fresh eye.[code]

I have an auto maintenance app where I input labor, parts, tax and other costs. I have a routine to calculate total cost. I found that total cost works fine if total cost doesn't exceed $999.99. If it does, total cost only displays 999.99. Here is the code for each cost and the calctot routine.

I am using Visual Studios 2008. I'm trying to make a basic addition calculator. It consists of 2 input text boxes, 1 output box and one button. Below is the code I have which works, however, instead of just displaying the answer, I want it to display the entire arithmetic problem including the answer. For example. Instead of just giving me the answer of "6" in the output text box, I want it to say "3 + 3 = 6".

View 4 RepliesI have a label in my form which displays the text-content stored in a text file. However it is not able to display special characters like ", ', : etc. Instead it just puts a small rectangular box (same size as that of the text).
How do I get them to display these characters? Should I not use text files in this case or do I have to turn on some control-properties?

View 4 RepliesI'm seeing a strange problem with the labels on the X axis of my charts. I've setup two chart areas and aligned them (which displays fine) and the user can manipulate the chart by selecting different date resolutions (Year, Month, Day, Week, Hour) and different time periods.
The issue I'm seeing is that if a user selects say Months as the date resolution the X axis label display is inconsistent. If a fairly broad range for the dates is selected the X axis displays absolutely fine but as the date range narrows the X axis starts to duplicate labels ( please see the attached images). The second Image had a date range of 1st of May to 1st of August and as you can see the labels are duplicated. This is my first go with the chart control so I could be missing something basic. [Code]

I am writing a program that will display numerous labels in English and Spanish. The problem is I have the formatting correct and labels aligned for English, but when I hit the button for Spanish the labels on the left overlap the labels on the right. I did set the text on the Spanish side to include 10 spaces before the text, which does align it properly, however there has to be a better way to do it. I tried padding the label on the form which works good, but I would like the padding to only take effect when the selected language is Spanish. Once English is selected I would like the formattting to go back to normal.

1 - given an existing network and CIDR(mask), and a new CIDR it will create a number of networks with the appropriate number of hosts.
2 - given an existing network and CIDR(mask), and a list of c,h, (c = count, h=number of hosts) it will create the networks.

I have to programme a carbon emission calculator using proxy values and some input variables.Basically, 4 inputs: seize of ship in container capacity (categorized in 9 classes), distance, Fuel type used (2 types), speed (if known).How can I match the input variables with the proxy data values? Lets say someone inputs 2300 as container ship seize, the programme needs to know which proxy value to use from all the different seize categories (as it could have been 5300 or 7450). A certain ship seize class has a number of proxies (atributes). For example power installed, design speed, av. container capacity. (Classes are ranges, i.e. from 1000 to 2000 containers = class 1, 2001-3000 = class 2 etc.)The same principle applies with the other input variables except for distance. Speed only should be considered if it is known, otherwise the programme has to use proxy data as well.
In short, it is a calculator which, depending on some input variables, estimates carbon emissions based on proxy data. The problem I have: How do I let the programme know, if a certain ship category/speed is selected (inputted), which proxies the programme has to use. The rest is just a matter of adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing the proxies and the input data to calculate the emissions.

For ease of program maintenance, all of the above rates and factors must be stored in module level constants. All references to pay rates in the program must refer to the module level constants.
When the Calculate button is clicked:
a. The value in the Hours text box must be validated to insure that it is numeric value greater than zero.
1. If the value is not valid, a message box must appear as shown below and the user must be offered the option to continue processing or quit the program.
2. If the user chooses to continue processing, the focus must be set to the Hours text box.
3. If the user chooses to quit, the program must close immediately.
b. If the value is valid, the program must calculate and display the total pay in the Total Pay label.
1. The pay rate is determined by which Job Grade radio button is checked.
2. For hours less than or equal to 40, the total pay is the hours times the pay rate.
3. For hours greater than 40, the total pay is 40 hours times the pay rate plus the hours in excess of 40 hours times the pay rate times the Overtime Factor.
4. If the Full Time radio button is selected, the total pay must be reduced by the Benefit Deduction Rate.
5. The value displayed in the Total Pay label must be formatted with a dollar sign and with two decimal
places.
6. The focus must be set to the Hours text box.

I created a program that has serval labels on a form and a listview object. It has a button that when clicked reads a textfile and loads up values in the listview object. I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. Now, my question is how can I instruct VB to save these values in the text property of the labels so that the next time the program is loaded the labels will contain the values loaded during the last run time session?
View 1 RepliesWell im currently developing an application for public use, I have a login screen in which the user enter's their registered credential's and the progressbar loads by increments of 3, now i placed 6 labels ontop of eachother and where the progressbar coding is i put:

And so on up until Label8 Show at 100%,
Now the problem is... As i have placed the labels ontop of eachother i need them hidden until they are called to show, i have tried adding a background worker to do this but have had no luck, all i see is the labels overlapping eachother when i run my application when i want them hidden untill Label3.Show() is called, and then to display them as they are called and hide them when another one is called to show...
I'm having some problems with a program I'm making in vb.net. I have two forms: one containing a datagrid with basic details of orders (date received, total value of the order, customer who placed it, date it was sent out). The second form contains a datagrid with more details (the stock code and quantity of each product purchased) on each indivual order. The second form also has a label containing the total value of the order. All this information is stored in a database.
By clicking on a row in the datagrid in form 1, I capture the OrderID of this row and use that to look up the information form 2 requires in my database. I only want to show the details of the order that was clicked. I'm having no problems filling the datagrid with the information I want but I'm unsure of how to get the label working.
I figure I might need to do something invloving a datatable, like this:

I want to get a matricial data (a matrix of numbers, like a txt data with TAB separators) from the clipboard and put these numbers each one in many Labels (or other Control that would be easier to work with numbers - maybe NumericUpDown, but I don't like his look). I don't know how to Declare, Define, or anything.... I just want to click on a button and then get the data from the clipboard, check if it's a number (or matrix, or whatever).... and put one by one in each Control (label) that I want.For example:

So, what is the command that I have to use in VB that catch this data and bring to my program (clipboard.getdata would be the more correct?)And then, when I alredy have catch this data, how can I put the number 1 in the label1, number 2 in the label2, number 3 in the label3 and so on..Remember that I interested in use this numbers to calculate other values after and present the results in other place, and I know (maybe wrong) that labels is not the more apropriate Control to work with numbers?
I am creating an ordering form. I have created an access database and linked it to VB2008. I am struggling to retrieve records from this database into labels. I am using a combo box to select records from the access db table, but I cant display them.Both my source and target tables have 6 columns and I want to display all columns after selecting record from the combo box.
