What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database.When I try to save:

Me.TableAdapter.Update(DataSet)
It says that update is not a member of the tableadapter... Why is that?
Visual Studio 2010, Visual Basic I am able to import a .csv file into a datagridview on my windows form using the code below:

My issue is that I can get the .csv data into the datagridview, but I need the user to be able to indicate which column is the "First Name", "Last Name", "Address", etc so that I can add the data to the correct column in the database. The imported lists won't always be in the same column order.The end result needs to be that the data in my datagridview will be altered by the user and then saved to the correct columns in my database.

I try to run the update command it always throws the exception "Cannot find table 0" or "Update unable to find TableMapping['Table'] or DataTable 'Table'." I tried declaring the connection the same way as the code above and then simply calling the da.update(ds) but it wouldn't do anything.
This code dosen't save anything right away in PlaysDatagrid_CurrentItenChanged event or in PlaysBindingNavigatorSaveItem when I press the Disc on the navagator. What am I doing wrong?

View 1 RepliesI'm writing a windows forms project in Visual Studio 2008 - VB, data are stored in SQL database.- I have a date field within Datagrid that could be Null or have a date in it. I had set it to show <none> when it's Null (Null is allowed for this field). The problem that I got is when user would need to delete the date from that date cell within the grid. I'm getting an error immediately after pressing "Delete" to clear the cell value. I had put in a work around - added the code for grid DataError event and assigned DBNull.Value to that cell and user is able to type in <none> for that cell or just press save, but it won't allow to go to the next cell in the grid if you don't save or type <none>. I'm sure that there is a better way handlig situation like that. May be using different event? I wasn't able to find anything else on it.- the other issue in the datagrid - if user fills in 3 cells out of 5 for example and press save while in the 3d cell - it won't save the value in the 3d cell. I also put a work around to check for the values in specific cells before saving but the problem with it - few cells could be Null (and should be Null). I can't check every single cell value and force user to type something in it.
View 12 RepliesI am creating an app to grab data from excel and preview in datagrid. From the datagrid I want to be able to save to a sql table. I have the excel data in a gridview via a dataset. What I am having trouble with is the sql statement. I know how to insert data, but I can't work out how seperate the data in the dataset to pass it into individual Values of the insert statement. Or should it be done another way? NOTE: I is not essential that the excel data be previewed in the gridview if this would make life easier for me.

View 5 RepliesIve created one database Sql Server Compact Edition 2005, with one table ("Cliente") I know that I can created my database good, but i have a problem saving information since three textbox, in my table(With columns "Nombre" "Apellido" "Cliente". In my form there is a button save ("Guardar"). When I do click in my button appear the next message : "The column cannot contain null values. [ Column name = Nombre,Table name = Cliente ] " and happen the same with apellido and Id_Cliente. And this happen becouse my code cant save the information....

1. First off, how do I make my path to my database relative? The path is currently absolute and is: Data Source=J:/College/AS_DSFinalDatabase1.accdb
2. Second of all, where do I save my database in the project? I want it to be included in like project folders...kind of like the App_Data folder in ASP.Net.

View 6 RepliesI am trying to update a database table from my datagrid using an event handler and ItemCommand. I manage to call the routine and everything is working fine except the text that is inserted into my database is empty. I managed to track this back to the text not being passed from my datagrids footer to the sql parameters. I tried using a string first and then passing that to the parameters but they were also empty. I am accessing the control using the following line.

The control itself is defined using
