I'm using VB (visual studio) 2008. I'm trying to search a microsoft word file and select/copy text from it What i want to do
a. Search for a string/word in a text document(i.e "question)
b. When its found copy of text from that point to a point further down the document defined by a certain string ("a.")
c. after this is done it will continue to look for the next time the same string occurs (i.e. "question"") and continue as above?
I've figured out how to search for the word (question) but not managed to figure out the rest of it. Heres the code so far

Im creating an application to create rich text documents. As a part of of I have to add a text input field that can produce MS Word like features so that I can do word processing on the writing text.
At the moment VS studio provides, only Rich Text Box . But it doesnt provide that kind of features of the word processor.
Is it possible to add a word processor control to the Form if possible how can I do it? (I need to do this using the features of VS 2008 TS)
I'm creating a simple word processor for class but I'm having some trouble on the close button. The Close button is supposed to close the file that the user is working on but not the word processor itself. How would I go about closing the document that the user is working on?

This gives me an error message "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Object' to 'Integer'." When I'm not using Option Strict On the code seems to work but VS gives me a warning message, "Variable 'intfile' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime. I'm not sure what value to assign the 'intfile' Object.
I need to add cut, copy, and paste functionality to my word processor. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and we have no textbook this semester. I know they're in that tool box somewhere!

View 10 RepliesMy app outputs to printer and after much effort (and assistance from this forum) I got the print output formated to an acceptable output, except when certain user choices make for a multi-page document. The document prints one page and then cuts off. We formatted the output using a defined rectangle (the code for which I do not fully understand) to format the page. Can experienced users give me some help on getting a multi page output?

View 2 RepliesI have an application written in VB.net for batch print jobs. As part of the application, the user selects two printer trays to use to print the batch to (one plain paper the other coloured for coversheets and batch seperators) I had this working until we upgraded our systems from Windows XP with Office 2000 to Windows 7 and Office 2010. Now the selected trays are not being recognised and an error is thrown.
I've looked at similar posts on here and other forums but they seam to concentrate on using some word default trays (wdPrinterDefaultBin etc) however I need to be able to let the user pick whatever tray they wish to use. I don't want to have to go through every printer in the building and map the trays to the word values either as I don't want to rewrite the app everytime we've a new printer.

I want to insert (store) a Word 2007 document into an SQL database field. I've previously done this with PDF files into an 'image' datatype field without problems. I can add the original document and retrieve it for viewing using Filestream as follows:
To add the file (where 'strPdfFile' is the file and 'myImageBuffer' is added to the field)

This also works with a Word .doc file (substituting the file extension). With a .docx file however, when taking the ByteArray back out of the database and re-creating the document, there is a problem opening it with Word 2007. An error message says the file is corrupt but offers to recover the file, which it does successfully.
I know docx is OpenXML but in this case I'm not interested in the data structure (as such), I just want to store it. I guess I should be using a different method (Serialization?) but not sure which. I would also like to keep the field DataType (image) if I can.

I have no problem doing a select statement from a database and displaying it.An I have no problem inserting data into a sql database table. However with this issue I have to grab the data an insert it into a totally different SQL 2005 instance.

It returns the word and the scripture the word is in, but it also isreturning a bunch of weird text like: archan78988yykp etc etc. How do I onlyreturn the scripture with the searchedword, in this case the searched word is love. The following code allows words to be added to a listbox. Add the word to a text file and create a folder with the word as its name. The second part undoes the actions.If I try to delete the word immediately after adding it one of two things happen.
1.An error is reported stating the path cannot be found. Although the listbox index value is correct according to the code the error is pointing at that index +1.
2.The code continues to the point of requesting conformation to delete the folder, still pointing at the index value +1. I the action is confirmed the wrong folder is deleted.
However if I stop debugging, then run the code again all works correctly.Is it likely to persist when the application is compiled?

I'm returning a database query into a List object and using that list object to fill the X and Y axes of my chart as seen below. (_runData is a "List(of DatabaseTableName)" style Object filled with the results of my query.

View 1 RepliesI am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF

Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
Is there a way in VB.net to save a Word document as a different format (i.e. Me.Application.ActiveDocument.SaveAs) without switching to it? For example, if the current document is an unsaved, I want to save an copy of that document as HTML but still keep the unsaved document active.
