SendKeys To An Already Open Process?
May 20, 2011
so I have a console (that runs through a process) and it is redirected to a textbox (why I can't use shell) and I was just wondering how I can send keys to the console. What the console is doing is running a minecraft server. The server runs through the console and using the standard input does not work while the server is running (which stops me from stopping the server, and doing anything else to it).

I am making a key presser for a game and I have it to just spam the keys, but I want it to send the keys to a certain process or window. Here is what I have:
Private Sub Timer8_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer8.Tick
SendKeys.Send(1)
SendKeys.Send(2)
SendKeys.Send(3)
SendKeys.Send(4)
SendKeys.Send(5)
SendKeys.Send(6)
SendKeys.Send(7)
'#7 in box'
That's an example of 1 timer. Is there any way to make it just send the keys to a process I am kinda new to this.
Process.GetProcessesByName("SRO_Client")

I was wondering if this code could be better optimized for multithreading. What it does is open a process and loops through the data, there could be any range of files to open (so I would like to have say 2 or 3 processes at once):

What is the difference between SendKeys.SendWait and SendKeys.Send?Send obviously will just send they key immediately, but does SendWait actually wait for the message to be processed or does it also send it immediately? The function's name itself is just confusing. Which one should I use if I want to send keystrokes to a 3rd party app immediately, or is there no difference? To me, a few milliseconds is a big difference.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
CheckBox1.Checked = True
While CheckBox1.Checked = True
SendKeys("{END}")
End While
End Sub
That is the code, the error is "SendKeys is a type and cannot be used as an expression."

I'm looking for the underlying Win32 API call that the DotNET Framework invokes on a SendKeys.Send or .SendWait call, or a Win32 API Equivalent to SendKeys. I've already experimented with SetKeyboardState which seems like the way to go, except that it does not raise any kind of keyboard event that causes the set keystates to register with an active application or the OS (at least not until another key is pressed; for example I can meddle with the keyboardstate before events process on a natural keystroke, but I can't invoke a keystroke programmatically).

I have a VB.Net 2.0 application, on my form I am using a Component ONE PDF reader control.I am trying to send to this control a F4 keystoke to close the navigation panel when it opens the PDF file. It is not working or not accepting the sendkey.I put focus on the control first. Code below:
Me.PDF1.Focus()
Me.PDF1.Select()
My.Computer.Keyboard.SendKeys("{F4}", True)
I have tried different variations of the Sendkeys with no success.

I am attempting to open a cmd.exe process with the 8 arguments listed At this point all this does is open a command window in the correct directory
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
F:Python26>
What I want to send to the command window is:
F:Python26> python.exe globalmaptiles_modified.py 17 32.123365 -95.938098 32.266846 -95.789143 F:Python26process_test.txt
[Code].....
I have even tried this with a design Process from the toolbar and set the File, working directory and start info arguments and I get the exact same results. I am not understanding the Argments function or I am doing something wrong and not sending them correctly.

I am using the BGW to run a long loop of several thousand records against several thousand records. If I open another form in the project then the process slows down dramatically, that is because in the Form I am opening has a DGV tied to Table that is being used in my loop process, so I understand why the process slows down.
What i am wondering and experimenting with is how to close the form and have the process resume to "Full Speed" if possible
I tried Closing the form verse Hiding it and DGV.DataSource = Nothing
Thinking that would unbind it?? and free up resources?

How do I get the list of open file handles by process id in C#?
I'm interested in digging down and getting the file names as well.
Looking for the programmatic equivalent of what process explorer does.
Most likely this will require interop.

I would like to launch a command line exe I created. For now it's a test program that writes Hello World to the console. I can launch it, but the shell window it displays it in only stays for a split second.
I know I can add a line to my console mode program (readline). But I would like to control it from the process launch. I will be using console mode programs that I did not write myself, and many of them don't stall the output. I can't find the right properties and methods to control the default shell behavior!

I'm trying to open any file using Process.Start, but every time I try to open a file that isn't an executable the program crashes... This is the code I'm currently using:
vb.net
Private Sub ListView1_MouseDoubleClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles ListView1.MouseDoubleClick
For Each lvi As ListViewItem In ListView1.SelectedItems
Process.Start(path & "" & lvi.Text)
Next
End Sub
Path is a string that contains the selected folder path, and lvi is the text of the list view item (each item contains the icon and name of each file). It is working fine for .exe files, I was just wondering if it's JUST for .exe files...

I want to be able to read and write the process memory of Firefox for a game on facebook(It's kind of like cheating only you can't cheat, nothing stays permanent.) this is just for fun. The game is called happy fish aquarium and you raise fish in the game and it's just really addicting. I found a program that reads process memory and lets me change certain values in happy fish aquarium so I can make my fish tank look different or whatever. But if I reload the page it will of course go back to the original state because the fish tank's memory is held online. The point is, I just want to make a program that can read the process memory from Firefox from a certain range and bytes. like 4 bytes and a range of 00400000 to 7FFFFFFF. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? Please note, this is not for cheating purposes in any way whatsoever, it's simply for visual fun(visual meaning only I can see it). What I want to do is the same as using the add-on firebug in firefox to change the html on a webpage.

I've created a very simple form with one button on. I need it so when the form runs, it opens in the bottom right hand corner of the screen regardless of the resolution. It also needs to be always on top of all other applications.
When the buttons pressed, i need it to close all iexplore instances and reopen a fresh instance.
I've tried to search for the answer but to no avail.

I am using the Process.Start function to open a program based off a registry value. It works, sort of. Here is the snip of the
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Console
Imports System.Configuration
[Code]....
The program opens with the correct registry value, but the program itself does not run quite right. This program feeds into Intergraph and brings up the selected drawing, but there is a feature of intergraph that doesn't work. If I manually start ( double click ) pdsicon.exe the program works just fine. It only when I call the process that it doesn't work quite right.

I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

I am trying to automate a process I do with a bank with vb.net. Basically I need to open a website and navigate through it (Automatically through the program obviously), enter a batch ID and enter a file path and name. For some reason when I get to the part where I need to enter the file name and path, it simply will not populate the text. I have attached a word document with screenshots and code. The only difference I can see, is that in the bank website's code the the input type for the file text is "FILE" rather than "TEXT" as it is for the batch id...

I have to get this structures/enums on the vb.net dll end. I have mentioned about using pipe. My question is as what type the pointed to data can be send over the pipe so that I can easily handle the received data at the vb.net dll end.
