I am working on an application that is going to read a weight from a scale. The people who sold us the scale said that I can send a string to the scale over FTP and the response I will get is the weight. I haven't done much with ftp and have been searching for weeks. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The steps are... Create a TCP/IP connection to the ip address, port 1701 If the connection is succesful then I'll get 53 Ready for user as the response I can then send the username/password to the machine (sent as a string...) Read the response, which should be 12 Access OK I then need to transmit 'r wt0101' to read the weight. The response will have the weight. They've said this is done through FTP but maybe that's not the case? I don't understand why it would be FTP but that's what the technical documents say. Is there a class I can use that sends string commands over a tcp/ip connection?
I have a Client/ server application where the Server is in java and Client is in Vb.net.When i send large string from client to server am not receiving complete text.code attached below.
client-- VB.net- Try Dim clientSocket As New System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient()
Dim conReader As New StreamReader(con.GetStream) Dim conCont As String = conReader.ReadLine
It just reads the first line of the server I'm trying to connect to, I want to make it read all the messages that the server is sending. btw, con is: Dim con As New TcpClient
I have sockets receiving data from a barcode reader, the problem is the reader sends the string in chunks for whatever reason as opposed to sending the whole string, for example:
how to send a log using vb.net console app to a external server? I have the application sitting in a store oulet, then I need this application to send over a log file.
I have a couple of ideas.. one is using a tcp listener and sender, then the listener logs it over in the server.
Another is using a ftp send.
but I would prefer it to be coded in the program itself.
I'm trying to send a simple email via vb.net. This is the first time i've tried this and am getting the same message every time. I've looked everywhere with no answer... The host that i use is bluehost, and i know the port name and the client name and username and password are correct. So i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, perhaps it's thinking i should be sending from my localhost, or my ip address? Either way, below is the error i'm getting, and the code. The # just represent the numbers in the error and so on and so forth.
Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: cpe - ##-###-###-###... (my-pc)[my ip address] is currently at...
Try Dim Mail As New MailMessage Mail.Subject = "The Email Subject"

I am new to web services in VB.net. I have imported the WSDL into the Visual Studio 2010, but using the .net 2.0 "Web References" framework instead of the new "Service References".I simply need to learn how to pass my API key and one other piece of information through the API to the server. This is all that I have. What code to I need to add to a) Send the API Keyb) Send the Database Mode String
Public Sub Call_Web_Service_Method() Dim CallWebService As New PersonService.Header() Dim sPostAPIKEY As String = CallWebService.APIKey()
I am new to VB.net and struggling to get out of VB6's way of sending data, I am doing this to send a byte array from my client to server, please advice if this is the right way,The sending portion:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim arrNo(3) As Integer
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click ProgressBar1.Value = 5 Dim strTo As String = setting.tosett.ToString[code].....
i want the program to ping the server before sending the mail; if server is available then send mail if not then message box with warning appears notifying user to check VPN connection and sending of mail is canceled.
I have a software under contruction for a small firm. And it requires email functionality. That is, whenever the users in the main database reaches the payment date, an email will be send to that user as a reminder.Or, in certain period, the admin needs to send a notification mail to all the users in the main database.
So, how can I incorporate that facility in my main app ?My present idea is to create a separate app for send the mails. That is, when the admin compose the mail and selects a bunch of users (as recipients) from the database, all the message will be saved to another database (for mailing application) and will start the mailing app. This mailing app will check it's database for any pending emails to be sent, and if there exists any pending mails, it will start sending one by one. After sending each mail, it will remove that from the database.
What's your idea ? Does it sounds ok to you I don't want the user of my main app to know that there exist another program, running in background, sending emails.
I've been working on this personal project of mine and this has me stumped. I told my friend what i was trying to do and hes going to let me use his mail server that he uses at work. I have already looked on google for a sample application, but the only one i could find is not the one im looking for. Ive never worked with System.Net.Mail before so this is new to me. Im sure it would be something like this:
Imports System.Net.Mail Dim toPhoneNumber As String = "DestinationPhoneNumber"; Dim login As String =
I'm not sure what I have done wrong, I am trying to get my program to send data (UsernamesPasswords) from client to server, then the server says if it's right or wrong.
The error is on this line: Dim networkStream As NetworkStream = TcpClient.GetStream()
Heres the Client: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If TextBox1.Text = "" Then MsgBox("You must enter UN/PW!") [Code] .....
I'm trying to write my own SMTP server at the moment so that people can use it in their applications to send and receive emails.I am having a few problems at the moment with the TcpListener side of things though. Basically I do not want to start the TcpListener in the constructor of my class because people could be using this SMTP Server class just to send emails and might not care about receiving them. In fact the majority of people that use it will probably use it for that reason, to send and not to receive.
So I am now considering breaking this into 2 totally separate projects that have no dependencies on each other, but could easily be used in the same application if required. The reason I designed this with both 'features' in the same project in the first place was because that is how an SMTP server works - it can receive incoming SMTP requests and it can send SMTP server requests to other servers (and in some cases, receiving an SMTP request would cause it to send an SMTP command to another server)
We have an in-house developed VB.Net Windows Forms application that is losing users' individual connections to the SQL Server 2008 R2 database. The bolded message below is what appears.
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)I have looked at many numerous articles both from Microsoft and others, but have been unable to pinpoint the issue.Sometimes it occurs when the user has been away from the open application for a long-time; others maybe less than 20 minutes.
i want to send mail through my exchange server 2003 using visual basic 6.0, can any one guide me through the process how i can do this, i am using windows XP at client end.
I want a quick and easy way of sending stuff from my window forms to my remote SQL server, my remote sql server allows remote connections to my IP address. How can I do this? I also need to return a result, either true of false.
As some of you may know, I'm trying to develop a client/server application that requires sending files and text. Text is not a problem, this works fine, and for some of the part, sending files works, but they get slightly mangled in the process. For example, I used a 4x1 BMP that was alternately coloured red and white and tried sending it across. The output was the correct image dimensions, but the colours were wrong. It was more like a very dark red and very dark grey. I inspected the files with notepad, and the header was the same, but the data was different.
I did some research and apparently need to use a BinaryReader and BinaryWriter as opposed to reading the data as a string (like I was when it was being mangled) but now the data is all wrong, even filesize is different. The code below is a simple example of code for reading an image and then writing it again elsewhere using Binary Read/Write.
I'm trying to develop some code to send a fax automatically from a ASP webpage.
[code].....
Basically on my development machine (XP Pro) the fax sending works correctly via our SBS 2003 server which has the fax services installed. Now I want to upload the ASP webpage to our Windows 2003 Standard server under IIS. When I try to send faxes using this server (via the SBS2003) server I get the exception "Operation Failed".I've installed/uninstalled the Fax Service on our Windows 2003 Standard server but still the same error message.
I want to send a image to server side using HTTPService,I am using ASP.NET for server side coding. I don't know how to write server side code to receive the image sent as a byteArray, and I am also not sure if my client side code is correct or not。is there any IT PRO..[code]I could not get the image in my disk,I think the flex side should have not problem, but the VB code side should be something wrong.
I am using VB.net code and SQL server 2005.I am havng below code for sending email in my vb.net code.
Protected Sub ibtnSendInvites_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ibtnSendInvites.Click Try Dim emailList As New List(Of String) For Each curRow As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows
[code].....
Now my problem is that some time if emailaddress is not valid or SMTP server is responding my application get hangs. I want to log my errors generated by my SMTP server in table or any log file it would be good if I can send back email to admin with the details of error occurred.
I am using Nektra's Deviare to hook winsock's send method calls. My ideia is to learn to also send messages through the same socket than the original application. So what I'm doing is when i detect the first call to send message, I save the socket id(the first argument of the send function), so I can use it later.
So here is my code:
uint socket = 0; [DllImport("Ws2_32.dll")] private static extern int send(uint socket, string buf, int len, int flags);
[Code].....
This last messagebox is poping up always -1. Why should be it?
edit: calling WSAGetLastError() returns 2. Which I do not know what it means, as it doesn't seem to appear on msdn.
