I want to know about the problem. My problem is that when I open Visual Data Manager in Visual Basic Project I recieves a message "Invalid String. Looking for the object with ProgID: Visdata.Visdataclass".
dim myCollection as new Specialized.StringCollection dim myFoundThings as new ArrayList dim index as Integer dim newResultMemberName as String
[code]....
This is part of some code that will run without user interaction once it's spinning away, and I need to create a unique object from some items found in a StringCollection, naming the objects using information found in the strings stored in that StringCollection.
I get an error while trying to install a third party Excel add-in [Thomson One Analytics]. Error: "Compile error in hidden module: Main" Microsoft Excel 2003..But when I had the Addin unlocked.I noticed that it was getting stuck at a specific line in the MAIN module of the Addin package and the debugger throws a compile error message saying that: "Object library Invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found". Earlier when I had this issue,I made another user login to the PC and we were able to use the add-in successfully. But this time even a different user with Admin Rights was not able to use it. [code]
Tried to install and run the Addin on the same computer by a different user having admin rights, no go.Made sure that he references for the add-in in the VBA editor are correct, by comparing them with a working computer, no go Re-installed "Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)", no go. Ran repairs on Excel, no go Re-installed Excel, no go
how find an object's type when it is a subclass of another object and I only know the string value of the object's type's name.
I created the follwing classes:
Public Class word End Class Public Class noun
[Code]...
Using 'TypeOf', I correctly see that pn is a properNoun, a noun and a word. The problem is, using 'GetType' to check pn against a string value, I can only see that pn is a properNoun, not that its parent classes are noun and word.
Is there a way to check pn against the string value "noun" or "word" and get back a positive result, indicating that pn is indeed a noun and a word as well as a properNoun?
String s = "test"; String is a class, so to use it we should create an object of it. But rather we just make a reference of it and give it a value. How is it possible and what concepts are used in it. The metadata of String class shows the following :
I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj Inherits baseObj Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?
I'm new to VB, trying to connect vb to sql server using this code:
Code: Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class _Default Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Dim insertQuery As String Dim updateQuery As String Dim deleteQuery As String
I am trying to add records from an Access Database into another Access Database using DAO recordset. The VB.NET program would add the records until it hits random stop and error says "Object invalid or no longer set". what would cause this? The recordset contains 7 million records, but it only added approx 6000. Next time i run the program, it would add different number of records again.
I am using SQL Server DB. The connection string is
Data Source=office1SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|dbSQLTest.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
On local computer it is fine. On the network computer, it gives "Invalid Key for attachdbfilename" I do not want to make server client application. My purpose to use Sql server DB is to run my application on 3-4 computer simultaneously. I just make shortcut from my main computer to the network computers. The reason why I donot attach with server instance is that it is difficult for the users to attach DBs with server and then manage SSMS.
Ok, just needing a 2nd set of eyes looking at this to make sure the error isn't something else other than my LINQ code here. Here's the function class itself:
Public Function GetJacketByPolicyID(ByVal jacketID As Int32) As tblPolicy Dim db As New DEVDataContext() Dim j As tblPolicy = db.tblPolicies.Single(Function(p) p.policyNumber = jacketID) Return j End Function
and here is the code which calls this class function in the web control form itself:
Dim p As tblPolicy Dim j As New Jackets() p = j.GetJacketByPolicyID(3000050)
For some reason it's flagging the 2nd line in the GetJacketByPolicyID function saying the specified cast is not valid. So I'm guessing it's something I'm doing wrong. I'm sure the tblPolicy/tblPolicies class works right since I can create a new instance of a tblPolicy and set a few variables by hand and return it, so that's not it. I've also checked the datarow I'm fetching and there's no null values in the record, so that shouldn't be it either.

I have some classes, BsfciFile and StudyFlashCard. Bsfci is the extension to which I save my set of flashcards in an INI format. I am currently working to transform my code from using Windows API calls to access the INI to using a IniFile class that I found on the internet. I would like the BsfciFile to have a Array of StudyFlashCard objects, but I would like the StudyFlashCard class to use the IniFile class object contained in the BsfciFile class. I can pass the IniFile from the BsfciFile class to the constructor for the StudyFlashCard class, but I want it to modify the same IniFile as the BsfciFile class has later on.
I am trying to create an list or an array of a class. Here is my "Ingredient" class that I am trying to create a list of:[code]In my "recipe" class, I am want to create a list (or array) and I am drawing a big blank on how to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Ok, so I got everything working except for one thing. My program stores text in a settings files (which it saves to and encrypts to wonderfully), but it will only work once. For example, I type in an author, title and body, and click Publish, it publishes and is labeled with a "1.". Restarting the application, you get the desired effect, a decrypted string from the encrypted settings file, now publish another entry, this makes a new line with "vbNewLine" and then encrypts it, fine and dandy. Now apon opening the application again, you get an error stating "Invalid character in a Base-64 string.". What do I do?
Encryption Code: Public Function psEncrypt(ByVal sInputVal As String) As String Dim loCryptoClass As New TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider
i've created bunch of classes. i have webservices which reference these classes and contains the classes as parameters and return objects.when i call the weservice, i have to convert the class to the webservice object else i can type conversion error.is there a generic way to convert between these types without having to assign the values by hand?
for example
public class person fname as string lname as string end class
[code]....
i would liek ot be able to call the web service and return the data type back and have a generic coversion instead of as above in stead of:
dim wsPerson as wsReference.Person = ws.getperson()
