My problem is My AmountDueBox.text keeps showing my SubTotalDecimal. I want it to Show My Amount Due decimal (SubTotal + TaxDue - TradeInDecimal). I have text boxes displaying the various elements of the total along the way and they are all right except the final amount due. TotalDecimal- TradeInDecimal.
Public Class VBAutoCenter

Const SalesTaxDecimal As Decimal = 0.08
Const StereoDecimal As Decimal = 425.76
Const LeaterDecimal As Decimal = 987.41

[code]....

I am displaying an amount value in my repeater control (<%#Eval ("totalamt")) and would like it to be formatted to 2 decimal places. The value from the database is 2 decimal, however, the repeater is displaying 4 decimal palces.
How I can use a messagebox to show for a specific amount of time only? So if I place this in maintimer, MessageBox will show and will auto close and I set how long it must display for. If messagebox is up, then Timer is paused. I did research around these lines but couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I have made a banking system in which a user can log in via a username and password they can enter the amounts they have into their bank account, but I need to be able to "withdraw all" all that users money via a button and show that amount once clicked.
I am trying to find a way to show a large amount of data that spans across multiple forms and text boxes. I am making a somewhat summery of the input strings.
I have made a new form on vb 2010. I need a small box which updates itself automatically to show the amount of years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds from the 25/6/09. How would i do this in visual basic 2010?
I have a TextBox in a Windows Forms application in VB 2008 (.NET 3.5) where a user can key an estimate amount. I am allowing them to key dollars and cents, and I want to round to the nearest dollar. The original code had the rounding down when the data was written back to a table, and that worked fine - I have this code in a "Save" routine that fires when the user moves to a different screen or record:
Dim est As Decimal : Decimal.TryParse(txtEstimateAmount.Text.Trim, est) Dim estimatedAmount As Integer = Math.Round(est)
I decided that it might be nice to actually do the rounding as soon as they leave the field instead, so they're not surprised when they reload the screen and find that 1822.60 is now 1823. So I took the exact same code and added it to the TextBox.Leave event handler. And the weirdest thing happened: instead of the variable est being populated with 1822.60 after the parse, it gets set to -1! What the...?
Debugging the handler shows that the value goes into the parser correctly, and if I do the parsing manually via the Immediate window, it parses correctly, but when I let the code do it, it invariably gets set to -1. What's even weirder is that any number gets parsed as -1, not just decimals, and any non-number gets parsed as 0 (which is correct).
Has anybody else ever run into this before? I tried moving the code to the TextBox.LostFocus event instead, but with the same results. I have no idea what in the heck is going on, and obviously there are workarounds galore for this, but it just makes no sense whatsoever.
EDIT: Here's the full event handler (current behavior for which is to put -1 in the TextBox):
Private Sub txtEstimateAmount_Leave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtEstimateAmount.Leave ' Take any dollars-and-cents amount and round to the nearest dollar Dim est As Decimal
I'm at a compleate standstill with my homework here's what i have so far <summary> Validate the data from the Amount Invested TextBox. It must be at least $500 and no more than $2 million, including up to 2 decimal places. Set the MaxLength property to manage the number of digits entered.b.If Amount Invested is in the valid range, calculate the table and display it in a clearly-labeled, read-only, multi-line TextBox.c. display an appropriate message and calculate the table for an Amount Invested of $1.
I am having a problem with a program I coded in VB for class. It is a program that asks for the user to enter an amount of pennies then it displays the amount of dollars, quarters, nickels, and pennies. The problem I am having is that its not displaying the proper amounts in the text boxes, for example:
141 pennies = 1 Dollar 1 Quarter 1 Dime 1 Penny
So when I enter that, or any other number like 350 for the pennies, it gives inaccurate data, I am assuming that it is something I did wrong with the Modulus operator.
Public Class frmMain Private Sub frmMain_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click Me.Close() [Code] .....
I am using VB 2008 Express Edition. I made a little 3 form program to keep track of score while playing Gin. Now I'd like to make another score sheet application for a different card game with more people.I would like Form1 to have a textbox which the user may put a number in. Then on a button click that would take me to Form2 which would have the same amount of textboxes (name of player) as the user indicated on the first form.Eventually I'd like to build a UserControl (which would house the scoring for one player) and have Form3 populate with the same amount of UserControls as Form1.textbox indicates.
im trying to make a simple program that calculates the time it takes to cover x amount off nautical miles at x amount off knots, the code i have so far is this :
Code:Public Class Form1 Private Sub Label2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Label2.Click End Sub
Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged
[Code]...
so if i say want to cruise 29 miles at 12 knts it gives me an awnser of 2 hours 24.6 mins instead of 2 hours 25. Although i do realise that 2 hrs 24.6 is technicaly right i was wondering if anyone here could help me with getting it into the correct format?
im trying to make a fast food program on which the user will input the amount that he has, then he will check on what he wants, by using check boxes. There are 7 different check boxes with 7 different amounts of money. I have the program somewhat finished (thanks for the people that helped me before) but theres still a couple of things that I still need to get finished but I dont know how to.I need to be able to get how much money the user has (this will be entered threw a text box, I think I accidentally messed this part up, because I cant get it to work right, (theres alreasy a permit amount of money in there and it needs to be what the user enters instead of the permit, 5.59, one) and this will be the maximum amount he can spend, then the user will check on the food he wants (and the program will add the sales tax also) then it will produce an answer saying if you have enough money or if you dont. But what im confused on is how do I get the users amount of money and make it the maximum mount he can spend and make sure it doesnt go over the amount that he has checked.[code]
I am having problems with creating this change problem. The idea is that the user puts the amount of money in the textbox and then in separate textboxes shows Dollars, Quarters, Dimes, Nickles and Pennies.
Is there a way to make NumericUpDown control hide decimal places but still can show if i entered manually? For example, i want to set NumericUpDown DecimalPlaces to 0 but when i enter something like 6.52, it remains 6.52 and not rounded to 7.

I have a textbox aka TXT_Weighting in which I place a value of %.
If I put in a number 0 < number < 100, it works.
However, If I put in 100, I get this error: "error converting Data Type numeric to decimal"
The Database Field has the DataType of decimal(10,2).
I have tried converting it to decimal, string, int, float in the application, but once it saves, gives the same error.
I know it is because of the database field having the type as decimal. But I cant stop the entire application, just so I can change the data type of the field.
How do I save it without getting this error? How do I control it from the application?
How to convert the textbox.text to a number with decimal points. Once the subroutine have been process, the numbers will be dispalyed on the textbox or label in a format with two decimal numbers.
