Model Properties Not Set When Returning To Controller For Post

Sep 3, 2011

When I click save on the view, the model being sent to the save method of the controller has no values set, they're all default values. I'm actually using the exact same technique from another project... The data is populated just fine in my view, I can edit it and click save, the code enters the SetSiteTerms method in the controller but has none of the data from the view.

Model:
Imports System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations
Imports System.Runtime.Serialization
<KnownType(GetType(SiteToA))> _
Public Class SiteToA
<ScaffoldColumn(False)> _
Public Property ID As Integer = 0
[Code] .....

I've updated my view and controller. Why my model is populated, can be editing in the view but when I post with the save button, the model sent to the controller has no data???

How To Dynamically Resize A Silverlight 4 Child Window

Mar 23, 2011

I came across an issue which I see has been discussed a few times, but there doesn't seem to be a defintive answer to the question. How can the child windows in Silverlight 4 be dynamically sized to fit within the size of the current browser window? The problem is on smaller displays where the browser window may be smaller than what the child window was originally developed for. What occurs is the OK and Cancel buttons are off the screen and cannot be scrolled to via the browser. You can duplicate this problem by simply shrinking the height of a browser window manually while the child window is displayed. The controls will disappear and there is no way to get to them. This is pretty much simulates what users with smaller monitors see.So the question is how can you set up a child window to dynamically size itself so it users can still interact with it?

Asp.net - Enable/disable Web Elements Of A Parent Aspx Page From The Child Ascx Page?

Jul 20, 2009

I have an aspx page with three web controls: one to control the List Users page, one to control the Edit Users page, and one to control the Add User page. I have discovered a method for accessing these elements, but it seems to be limited. Here is what I have done:

Protected Sub editUser(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewEditEventArgs)
'set selected user from gridview.

[Code].....

This works in most cases. However, I am unable to access the "enabled" attribute of these web controls. Why is this, and how might I access that attribute?

Adding Namespace Attribute To XElement - Prevent Blank/empty Namespace On Child Elements?

Mar 17, 2011

I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:

[Code]...

How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?

Port WinForms To Silverlight 2 Or Silverlight 3

Mar 19, 2009

I have a LOB app written in VB.NET with a WinForms front-end and SQL back-end. After many months weighing up how to get onto the Web, I decided last month to use Silverlight 2. Now, Silverlight 3 Beta is out, but there is no end-user runtime.

Does anyone know when the runtime will be available for deployment of SL 3 apps onto client sites?
My dev timeline is about 3 months: should I persist with SL 2 and then u/g to SL3, or jump straight in to SL3?

Html - Dynamically Created Elements From Codebehind Need To Be Inserted Between Specific Elements

Sep 17, 2010

I created a method and pass the element type, id, and any inner text that instantiates a new html element. The last statement: Me.Controls.Add(element) adds it to the end of the page, but I would like it to be inserted in a specific position (between 2 divs within a form). What I am describing is very similar to this post on SO here, although it was for javascript.

Hierarchical Data For Application Settings?

Jan 6, 2011

(using VB.Net 2008) I have been using the Settings feature of vb.net to store user/application settings of my program. For small stuff it's great, but quickly starts to feel limited as the data gets more complex. Now I need to group certain settings together and organize them in a hierarchical (or relational) fashion. But from looking at the Settings tab inside of .Net, everything appears to be stored completely flat. So what's the best option for me? Some ideas I have are:

1. Use a small local database (such as an .mdb or .sdf) to store user settings. I think this could become a pain if I ever needed to update/create more settings while avoiding losing previous user data - not very flexible to change.

2. Use datasets and convert the tables to XML files.

Hierarchical Directory Listing From A File

Jun 25, 2010

I'm trying to find an easy to create a hierarchical directory structure that I can put in a TreeView, with two caveats:

1) The file list is from a file

2) The paths are un *nix format (e.g. /dir/dir/file rather than c:dirdirfile)

I found this ([URL]) which would do what I want...if not for the two caveats above. I can go through the process of tokenizing the paths and start creating linked lists of objects for a directory structure, but before I do that I'd like to find out if anything else is available...
