View 2 RepliesI have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.

I have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?

My intentions are to add command line switching. I am trying to see if i could run my application in varoius ways i.e.
App.exe -S - Start the application in XX Mode
app.exe -T30 - Start application with 30 second delay
and that kinda switching.
I'm using Process.Start to start an external command line application and using the StartInfo.Arguments method to send parameters to the application. I imagine I'll need to use a loop... but I can't figure out exactly how yet.I need to send anywhere from 1 - an infinite number of files names to this application. Each file has to be sent one after the other. So once the first one is done, I need to loop back around and past the second one.I can probably use the Directory.GetFiles method to get all of the files, but I don't know how to assign them.

I have an application (application #1) running with Administrator privileges on Windows 7.
I want application # 1 to start another application (application #2) without Administrator privileges so application #2 is running as a standard user.
Is there a way to do this? I have been using Process.Start.
How can I make it so when a button is clicked it will make the program start on start-up but only if the checkbox is checked?

Am trying to develop an interactive application in visual basic 2010 where customers can book. i want to add this data to the database in real time and communicate to customers the seats available,prices and so forth. In otherwards the application communicates with database and updates accordingly. Firstly how do i connect to my database? View 1 RepliesI have a VB project that I created a simple setup project to deploy. It installs fine except for one problem. It crashes because it can't read its own application directory. Included with the program are an xml and schema file that it needs to read when starting.dditionally it may create a log file, also in its application directory. Either of these will return errors under the default install. This was not an issue when running the program in VS and if modify the program to work with another directly like C:Temp. I have a workaround in which I change the permissions of Users group to Full Control for the application directory

What I think caused the issue is I attached the .mdf file I have referenced in my application to my SQL Server. I then detached the database in SQL Server, opened my VB app and re-built the app. When I tried to install the app, I received the error. Attached are the details of the error message.

I'm using Process.Start method to launch another application from my application. Until today, there was no problem. But I have tested my application in a different OS, Windows XP (SP3), and my application didn't work right on that. I'm also using arguments to run that application. I guess for some reason my application couldn't send arguments to other application correctly under Windows XP. Maybe it is related to my code. But you should know, it works great on Windows 7.

I am trying to launch a program using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:Program FilesFrets on FireFretsOnFire.exe") but the program always fails - the program generates an error log - so its obviously trying to start - ive included the log text but i doubt it will be useful.

I've just been forced (by hurricane Irene) to shift from XP and Access 2003 to Windows 7 and Access 2010 with no time for testing or evaluating changes.All our databases are still Access 2000 format.Our offices were flooded and our servers got moved around, though they're all still named the same things, and in many cases things are working exactly the same.However, I have a database that I can't connect to.It's an Access front end that links to tables in an SQL Server 2005 back end.When I start up this particular database the first thing it does is fail when running code that had been put in to set up ODBC connections when one didn't exist on the computer that was trying to access the data.[code]I didn't write this code.
