May 9, 2010I am looking for guidance regarding a form I am popping up where people have to fill in some information. When something is empty the form shouldnt disappear.
I tried doing this with a showDialog. but when I check the onclick button event the a messagebox come up and show the error/message but then when ok is clicked the form is closed.

Jul 25, 2010How can I stop my application quitting until a backgroundworker has finished? Its an updater, so basically I want the form to hide until the download is finished, and then exit.I've tried to make a setting to tell the app when it is still downloading, and on form closing check this variable, but it won't work. For some reason it still quits!The update window is in a separate form to the main form, so the user clicks 'Finish', the update form closes and the main form stays open.[code]

May 3, 2010Form1 is a mdi container. It has a bunch of forms that can load inside of it as mdi children. If I close each open form inside the form1, and then click the red X at the top right, application exits fine.If I click the red X without closing the forms inside I get: An unhandled exception of type 'System.CannotUnloadAppDomainException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Additional information: Error while unloading appdomain. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131015) However I can break from it. How do I get the application to not show that error? What must I do to fix those inside forms or close when the red x is clicked?

The above code is what I used in VB6 to close all forms associated with my programs before my program closed. I have been searching for information on how to make sure all forms are closed when closing a VB2008 program.
I have seen info on using the Project Property Shutdown mode When startup form closes and I currently have this set.
Is this all that is really necessary? Will the garbage disposal close everything else to free up RAM?
Also, if I have several forms open and want to close all from the main form without closing each one individually, what is the best approach? Is there a collection like in VB6, go through the collection, compare it to the name of the main form and close it if it is not the main form?

Codes For Picture Box Actions ?
Feb 17, 2011Writing codes for a school project I have to do. Basically I need to make a program that when you click a picture box it replaces the picture with an image in a second picture box on the same spot on the form. I am not sure how to do this. Right now I have the two pic boxes side by side and when I click one the other disappears as it should, but I can't get it to reappear so one can click between the two alternately.

I would have multiple controllers which would set different results to the main content, based on the user input. VS 2008 Detect 'tab' Event And Do Actions?
Apr 5, 2009I have roughly 20 text boxes on my form,When you press tab, it naturally selects all text in the box (highlighted in blue), so you can press any key, and it replaces it with that,That result is what I want, unfortunately, if you click into the text box, and tab back to it, it no longer selects all the text.I'm wondering how I can detect the tab event properly,I've tried adding a 'KeyDown' event to each text box, and then selecting the text, but the sub never runs, also tried detecting the tab event in my Main Form, thinking that perhaps the parent handles it and will receive that event, but.. No.I've thought of using an event like 'Activated' however, it will also run when the mouse is clicked.

I have a textbox which when i click shows up the supplier list and from there when i double click on a row, the supplier's name is shown in the textbox. The thing is i have to do same on the same page for search purposes which got its own textbox. But the cell double-click event already contains code that will display it in some other textbox like i mentioned previously. What i thought is to make another form with a datagridview. So this datagridview will be used to display the supplier's name in search textbox. But what if i have to access this form several times. Do i have to create several forms everytime?

Feb 26, 2009Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I have set the properties of some of the buttons so that the text is draggable, but I want to be able to drag it to every textbox. I have posted a snippet of code below that allows me to drag ot to box 1 and 2, but is there any way that I can set it to drag to all boxes without having to individually specifying them? Apr 15, 2011I have a WPF 4 and VB.net 2010 project. I am playing videos in a single mediaelement. This is what I need to do:When the window first opens, I have the first video play just fine. However, it is after this video plays that I run into trouble figuring out how to do the following.I need the video source to change immediately following a single play through of any video, and I need this video (henceforth referred to as an "ambient" video) to loop forever.When a certain event happens, I need to change the video source again, have it play once through, and then go back to looping ambient video in step 1.Here is the rub, however. Many of the video triggers are inside of If-Then or Select Case statements in code behind, so I'm not exclusively using simple WPF events such as "MouseUp" or "MouseEnter".Also, all videos must play in the same mediaelement, for performance reasons.

Sep 20, 2011I got a text box and a panel.The textbox is at the bottom, and the panel is above it, making a open white space above it.The thing I want, is that when i type "run" into the textbox.The empty space should start displaying messages of its actions.Just like in command prompt.If you open a cmd window. (make it small) then type in "ipconfig" (as an example), the text that shows up, makes the scroll bar, follow it down.
