I want to display the duration only Hour, Minutes, and Second in data Gridview by Subtract TimeCheckOut from TimeCheckIn in ASP.NET using LINQ to SQL Here is code behind:
[Code]...
In Line 3 in function, Dim dif as TimeSpan = DateTime.Now.Subtract(Duration) which give only the duration of Hour, Minute, and Second from TimeCheckIn until DateTime.Now. However, I want to have the duration from TimeCheckIn until TimeCheckOut only in Hour, Minute, and Second.
I know that the FieldDisplayDuration function is totally wrong logic, but I just want you to get my point only, and also it could be the code sample for those who want to calculate the duration of the employee from the hire date. Finally, Let's get back to TimeSpan by Subtract TimeCheckOut from TimeCheckIn in gridview problem, How can I do that?
How can I get a new distinct list from an existing list using LINQ? This is what I have so far and it is not distinct but does give me a new list.
Dim tmpQryColumn = (From a In _allAudits Select New CheckBoxListItem With {.Id = a.AuditColumn, .Name = a.AuditColumn} ).Distinct() _columnList = New List(Of CheckBoxListItem)(tmpQryColumn)
I have two generic lists, named ListA and ListB. Both ListA and ListB could potentially have duplicate items. What I would like to do is use LINQ to grab the items in ListB that are not in ListA, but I'm unsure how to do so.
This works great and sorts on L_Name. But I am trying to allow the user to sort the gridview themselves so I am passing in the SortExpression as a string. But I don't know how to incorperate the SortExpression into the LINQ Query. I tried Order By c. & SortExpression but that did not work.
If I used a generic list Class to hold data objects that I am pulling from SQL Server using Linq to sql to populate a datagridview would I need to make any modifications to the datagridview control to accomodate multiple columns or would I need to make any modifications to the generic list class to accomodate the multiple columns in a row that is typical of a record in SQL Server? And one more thing which I believe is the easy part. To bind the list to a datagrid view would I just use the datasource property of the datagridview control.
I'm basically brand new to LINQ. I've seen some examples that allow me to strong type objects using LINQ but I don't really understand them because they're in C#, which I guess lets you do different things with LINQ(I think?). [Code] I just want to get a list of all the products from the XML doc and put them into a Generics list.
I would like my gridview to be filtered by the dropdown list I have. It is pulling specific information from the database, so when you choose a value from the dropdown list, it should search through all the records and find only records with the ddl value in them.
The code that I am using in the codebehind for the SelectedIndexChanged is not right though. I get an error message saying 'Value' is not a member of 'Integer'. This is on the line dsCompanyFilter.SelectParameters.Add
It probably has something to do with the gridview not tying to the dropdown list properly, but I am not sure how to fix that code.
how to setup a dropdown list over the gridview when I am in the editing mode? I would like use the code behind to bind the data after assigning to the data source... I am using Visual Studio 2008 ...
I need a Data ComboBox having GridView in it's List Portion to have multiple columns in it. Purpose is Consider a 'Products Combo Box' where i want following fields to display
1] Product Icon
2] Product Name/Description
3] Product Price
4] Product Stock In Hand
where i can Format the 'Price' field to say Currency Type, 'Stock In Hand' field set to Particular ForeColors (at Run Time) depends on wheather the current stock is Negative or below minimum range or adiquate stock and so on. Similar controls are already available with MS Access so Why Not In VB?
I have a gridview with a dropdown list that was created programmatcially. I want to have access to the selected value and to that row's Id. I have the dropdownlist created in *Gridview_RowDataBound* and I am able to use the text in the cell but my addHandler is never fired. Where do I give it the Add handler. I believe I can assign it the addhandler in RowCreated but how would I be able to set up the add handler if the button is created in rowdatabound?
[Code]...
It fits best in Rowdata bound because my dropdownlist items don't duplicate but I need to be able to use the addhandler I created.
I have a gridview in asp.net/vb and it is bound to a list - so there's no standard sorting available. I've found this jQuery plugin for sorting tables: [URL]. The plugin requires <thead> and <tbody>. The problem is, that my gridview only renders the <tbody>.
I've already tried DataList.UseAccessibleHeader = True DataList.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader But this changes nothing.
I am trying to use linq to query a List(of T) object, but when i type in my linq statement it comes back with the following error: Error57Expression of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of BreakoutData)' is not queryable. Make sure you are not missing an assembly reference and/or namespace import for the LINQ provider.D:\Code\OLGA35\BreakoutByBusinessUnit.aspx17025D:\Code\OLGA35\
I have looked at my web.config and I have the imports:

I have radio button list in a gridview that needs to be bound to a column. If the value in a column is 0, the first radio button is selected, if 1, the other is selected. This is the code, some of it is partially removed because it is not necessary
Is it possible to change the data source of a dropdown list in a gridview from another dropdown list selected index changed method in the same gridview?
for example I have a dropdown that needs to change its contents depending on what is chosen in the previous cell of the gridview, which is also a dropdown list.
This post is similar to one I have posted before about a dropdown filtering results in a gridview. Well now I need this dropdown to attach itself to a repeater that will filter results into a gridview. I have tried rptLetters.DataBind() in the code behind of the dropdown list, but that doesn't seem to be changing any of the letters at the top of the page when I click on different items in the dropdown list.The screenshot doesn't show enough of the products, but in this case it skips from G to L, and in the repeater the letters between G and L are still shown. I need to be able to get that repeater to recognize the letters that start each of the products associated with the company chosen.
I'm using a program see here: Visual Basic Regular Expression Question. I enter letters and the program returns all possible combinations from list. I want change this line of code...
Dim result = fruits.Where(Function(fruit) Not fruit.Except(letters).Any())
If I have this list:
Dim fruit as List(Of string) from {"apple","orange","pear","banana"}
And I input "p a p l e r" then it would return "apple" and "pear", but if I enter "a p l e r" then it would return just "pear". The idea is to return all words, which can be made of entered letters without duplicating any single letter. How to optimize this Linq code?
