I have developed an application on my phone to manage my money. I would like to create an application on my pc to get the local database from my winphone to be able to display informations... and have a backup. I would also like to be able to restore my data back to my winphone if there is a crash.

I have a form which has a ListView and buttons to add/edit/delete items from this list. It has a save & a cancel button. On pressing the cancel button, I want to revert all the changes that have been done in the current form. So, while loading the form I keep a copy of the original list like below.
backupMyListView = MyListView
In the cancel button code, I do the opposite.
MyListView = refMyListView
Whats happening is that, the original listview is never restored because everytime MyListView was updated, backupMyListView also was getting updated.
How do I restore the original ListView on pressing the cancel button?
I have an application that has a part of it that modifies several windows services. When the form loads it checks the registry for the current status of the services.
What I would like to do is have it so that the application takes a snapshot of all the defined services when it is first installed and stores the defined settings for each of them. This way the services can be restored at a later time to there original settines. I would also like to make it so that a custom settings file can be created so that this custom configuration could be loaded which contains changes. The result would be the first file made would allow everything to be reset prior to any changes the second file would contain all the setting changes.

I had my laptop stolen and had to download a trial version of microsoft word 2010. the file extension says it is WordApplication.odt. I am using Visual Basic 2010 and had the application converted from a visual basic 2008. The Imports Word = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word .Net Reference file, but I thing the trial version of Microsoft Word has a different file extension.

I used the Restore Files option and saw my Page.aspx file and it's Page.aspx.designer file. I chose the two and restored them.
When I looked at my application, however, Page.aspx.vb and Page.aspx.designer.vb had been restored (ie. the page behind's but not the pages themselves)

When I try to launch the application the second time its window is restored to its normal windowed state instead of being maximized (like it was before attempting the second launch). There are many people who asks this or similar qusetions, but the answers are often hard to understand, and quite often are answers to something other than what was asked from the beginning.I know that there are many skilled programmers out there, but most are not great teachers. So here is what I need: I have constructed a program in which the user can write values in textboxes, choose from lists (comboboxes) and make some choices by checking checkboxes. The data in the lists comes from a database, but I don't think that is really relevant here. What I want is, when all the choices are made and when the textboxes, comboboxes and so on have data (text or numbers) in them, I want the user to be able to save this to a file (XML perhaps?).
To speak plainly and visualize this to you, think of a roleplaying game (RPG), and that you fill out a character form with details about your character. Of course you want to save all this, and at some point retrieve it to make changes when you level up. I am not all that stupid when it comes to programming, but I have never tried to do something like this. My applications have had a database engin behind the GUI, and all the saving was done in tables at the far end of everything. Now I want to save data to a file instead. I have tried to find books (or a good tutorial here on the web), but most answers are for C (++. #, etc), or else they are hard to understand.
Is there anyone here who can help me or point me in the right direction? I'm not asking you to do my work for me, but som examples that are valid and that will help me understand the process whould be nice. So far I have recieved good help here on this forum from nice people.

I also have a webserver on the internet that I was thinking of phoning home to.My thinking is that the if the app opens a particular webpage or just makes a http connection to the webserver (in the background) , the webserver logs will logs all the data I need.

I am working on an in house application. I am coding a simple application in vb .net. This applications takes a few inputs from user and calculates a result. Now I want to implement a simple functionality that user should be able to save the input and results just like most of the windows programs can in a new file format. And user should be able to open the save file when desired.
i try to transfer packets from the PC to the Mobile phone~ my PC is act as a Server and Mobile as a Client. My Mobile is successfully connect to my PC, but when i try to pass a packets from Mobile, it went failed without any error. The Server didn't receive any packets from Mobile. i had test my code on PC to PC and it's work fine. Anyone have this kind of experience?

View 1 RepliesI have a form that has around 4 txtboxes. Data is inserted into these boxes and then a "Save" Button is pressed. I have a GridView added to my form and want to view the entries. The issue I am having is that when I click the save button the data doesn't show up in the DataGridView until I close the application and then re open it.
