How can I edit the time on my form. I have a one tabpage Schedule on which I want to set time according to user's choice. (I know how to display current time). If current time is 5.50.55 PM then user can set anything for eg. 6.45.12 AM according to he want to schedule.

No doubt a simple question, but I'm a beginner (I learnt GW BritingASIC in 3 months long ago - but after 6 months grappling with vb 2008 I am still bewidered).
I have written a program that asks the user at run time to choose 1 of 40 buttons. These are themselves defined at run time. Whichever button is chosen the same algoritm will run (using different data). Question: To save writing the same Button_Click routine 40 times, what code should I write - and where in the program - to detect which of the 40 the user has chosen?

I have some custom user controls in my .net winforms program that do not display correctly when the user has selected larger text size. This setting:

The bill to area and ship to area are both custom controls. I don't know if this is contributing to the problem but I do have code in each to scale the phone/fax areas to stretch nicely, like this code from the bill to control,

How can I get my controls to size correctly while still respecting the users choice for larger text (I don't want to just set the AutoScaleMode to None)? After playing with this for a long time it seems to be a problem with anchors in the child controls. See this below image, the inner black box is the control with its border turned on, the text boxes (like name) are anchored left and right and should stretch to fill the control, but don't.

I know I can use a global ("Public") variable to pass the text of the three choices from the calling form to the called form, but is there a way to pass these from one form to the other exclusively? Of course, my main objective is to have as little memory being used as possible. I would like to make the form in my example (frmDialogChoice) a generic form that can display any set of three choices.

tabControl1.TabPages.Remove(...) and
tabControl1.TabPages.Add(...)
It adds and removes the tabpages but doing so will loose my controls on tabpages too... i can't see them back.

View 15 RepliesI have a tabgroup with 2 tabs. During runtime, I wish to add new ones. Though I can get the tabs added, I cannot seem to add the ListBox that is supposed to go with it.
In the code below, I added '*' to indicate a line I added to try and fix the problem, but (obviously) don't work.

In our projects we use setting variables to store user setting for the applications. Moreover, with every latest version of the applications, we upgrade these variables to retain user settings.Normally, this works fine, but recently one of my end user reported an error i.e.Configuration System failed to initialize". The error is related to user.config file. Therefore we requested the user to send us his file.After received the folder, we noticed that it contains 3 files (3begfjb.newcfg,3begfjb.tmp and user. config). 3begfjb.tmp is an empty file, while 3begfjb.newcfg and user.config are identical files. We tried to open these files but the data in user.config isn't proper xml rather its unreadable formatted file.Do any you guys had experienced this sort of issue or any ideas how and what may have created these files and corrupted user.config file.
View 3 RepliesI have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.

I have a GUI that allows a user to add tabpages to a tab control. Everytime the user adds a tab, a user control is placed on the new tab. The user control has a background worker on it, as well as several other controls. My question is this: Can I access the backgroundworker specific to a tabpage? In other words, can I tell the program to use the backgroundworker found on tab index 0 to run a process, and then tell the backgroundworker on tab index 1 to run a different process?
View 1 RepliesI have a application with a tabcontrol. I dynamically open new tabs on which there is a custom control which is made of a graph and a datagridview with data. I fill this from a csv file. when I open few tabs like this my application memory goes over 120 MB. When I remove the tab I call the dispose on the custom control and a dispose for the tab. But the memory stays where it was (120+MB). It goes down only if I minimize the program. And when I show it again its around 10MB.

I am using System.Windows.Forms.TabPage to store an entire TabPage for later use in My.Settings. Here is a brief description of the application.
I have a TabControl that has 3 tabs. One for user input, another tab for equipment settings, and then a final tab for Oven settings. On the user input tab, if the user de-selects the checkbox for Oven, the oven tab is saved to My.Settings and hidden.
I can then run the application without oven control. After running, lets say the user would like to re-run, this time with the oven. They go back to the input tab and re-select the Oven checkbox. However, the Oven tab doesn't re-appear. When stepping through the code, the is nothing stored in My.Settings for the oven tab page. Why not?
Also, I can open the application, and check, then uncheck the oven checkbox and the tab is hidden, then returns. I can do this all day. However, after running the tab will not return.
I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
I want to "manage" a table of "orders." Orders is a typical table with a foreign key pointing to a customer, and a one-to-many relationship with a "details" table. To manage orders means to enter new orders, add details to orders, record payments, print a list of orders, cancel orders, mark orders shipped, print one order, etc., etc. These tasks can be divided into tasks that affect single orders (cancel an order) and tasks that affect multiple orders (print a list of orders).That task division led me to this user interface: present a form/window that displays by default a list of orders, and provide a button that switches the view from list mode to single-order mode. Just want the client to send the server 4 numbers, depending on the user's choice; after that, the server would turn off the pc, restart it, etc. It all depends on the number received. I have a oracle database. I use the OracleDataAdapter(Oracle.DataAccess.dll) for select, update, insert, delete operations. I don't set any (table) locks on my own(I only start a transaction). I have a oracle table named "test" with the entry "test1".
Now my question: Can Person A read the entry "test1" while Person B is updating/deleting the entry at the exact same time? What happens in the worst case? An old match/empty match or can it cause any kind of exception/error(e.g. "TableLocked-Exception")?
