I am making an application which is capable of displaying a picture, and making adjustments to it. Unfortunately i'm stuck at this phase:The colour of each pixel in the image should be inspected and stored in one or more arrays.

It displays the color of the pixel at the coordinate typed into the text boxes.I have a video of a tennis ball which is bouncing on the spot, and the background in brown, so when the tennis ball comes into view there is a significant color change and i want it to start and stop a timer each time the colour changes significantly.So my question is, how do i get it to check whether the colour chas changed significantly?
I have an empty picture box with the background colour set to the transparancy colour. How can i get the colour of the pixels within the transparant picture box so that i can create a bitmap of the transparant section of the form?

View 4 RepliesI am trying to read a 16bit binary file (tif image) and pixel values of the image ranges from 1200 to 4500. I tried to use BinaryReader using ReadUInt16 but I get EndOfStreamException Unhandled error. ReadByte method works fine with an 8bit tif file. I do not know how to read a 16bit image file using binaryReader. Shouldn't I use ReadUInt16 since values of pixels range from 1200 to 4500?

I am developing a software that would scan the image in a picturebox and obtain the rgb values of each pixel in the image and convert each rgb values to HSL values. I am using vb 2008 express edition. I am still a student. I am just starting to learn vb 2008. All I have done is to obtain the image in a file and paste it in the picturebox. Below is my code. I dont really know how to start with the process of obtaining the rgb values of each pixel and converting them to HSL values and averaging the HSL value.

I am working on a program that alters very large images. The images are usually in .tif or .bmp format. I load up the old image, copy a section of it into a new image, then save the new image. So far everything works my problem is that the images that i have to alter are 900mb+. Using the simple Bitmap class is not working because the images are quite apparently too large to fit into memory that way. (throwing an OutOfMemory exception)I want to step over the part of loading the image, and turn it into streaming the pixels from the image straight from the disk. I kind of have an idea of how to get the stream open and start reading, but I have no idea what to do with the 32bit integers that are being returned. how to stream pixel data from an image?

Ok so i have a form of witch the user is able to change the background image of. The form has labels on it. How can i make the fore colour change to be if possible the opposite colour to the image where the label is in order to make it readable?

As the image can vary from dark to light no one text colour can assure that the text will be readable.
Is there an easy way to invert the text colour pixel by pixel based on the colour of the image pixel the text will be drawn onto.
I can open a file in a hex editor and know that each 2 digits is a byte, they are 8 digits in binary correct?
How are they stored in arrays in VB.NET?

I would like to create a pixel viwer (i.e. zoom into a picture to view the image's pixel information - Similar to windows paint or Photoshop). I have created an image zooming code, but it enlarges the image and sadly, doesn't show the blocks of pixels I was hoping for.I have thought of several ideas, but each worse than the next. As an example, re-create the image, increasing each pixel's area based on the zoom-level. But I can tell already that this process would be slow and judging by photoshop (or paint) there is a quicker method.

I am a beginner programmer so this is basically the second time I fired up VS (not much experience). I searched the internet for the last hour but found nothing that might help me. I made sure every value is positive and changed all numerical variables from integer to decimal and I still get the error.I have absolutely no idea why this doesnt work but if I remove the "for" loop then the line written in bold works just fine.BTW this is my first post so scuze any mystakes I probably made.

View 1 RepliesWe stream the BBC news channel through a laptop hooked to a PC in reception for our clients. Annoyingly the stream is interrupted randomly (the line isn't dropping, it's the BBC's problem). Therefore when it's interrupted we get an error screen appearing which we have to go and manually refresh to get the stream back playing.
My intentions are to build an app which will be run alongside (silently) the stream monitoring intermittently a range of pixels. If the range matches the error screen that I mentioned previously then I'd call "Esc" to exit the full screen and then "F5" to refresh the browser and finally a double click on a specified coordinate to bring it back to full screen.
Problem: I've been doing some googling and so far have only seen related posts where the comparison is between two saved images. Due to this I expect the answer to be "Take a screenshot every now and then, compare, return result".

Ive been working on creating a side scroller game, and the back color of my pictureboxes needs to go. when transparent, it shows through the program and onto whatever is active in your Windows os(usually Visual studios).
I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?

not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.
To .NET after getting tired of using VB6 due to the lack of functionality. I'm trying to create a log on method for a system which will involve users selecting a colour from a paint panel and then placing/drawing the colour in 1 or more tiles of a grid, basically a 3x3 grid in which for example they selected the blue colour and drew in the top left tile and the bottom left tile. The logon is selecting the correct colour and placing the colour in the appropriate tile. What i want them to be able to do is place even a single pixel of colour so it has a high accuracy. So far i have a timer which loops from the width of the grid to the height of the grid.

To start with i have just hard coded the colour i want it to detect. At present it produces an error. Parameter must be positive and < Width the error is on System.Drawing.Point(i,j). If i place the mouse over the colour then run the program it will say it has been found, but otherwise it wont find the colour. I believe i am not updating the location of the pixel or something to that effect.
how I could search a given bitmap, say "test.bmp" or a printscreen, for two pixels that are next to each other and that have specified color values? The colors are: &H486596 and &H213D66. I then want to return the pixel positions in the image at which they are first located adjacent to one another. I'm only after the first instance of the occurrence. I wish to use GetDIBits as I hear that it's quicker. So I want to find the first instance where the color value for pixel (x,y) = &H486596 and (x+1, y) = &H213D66.
