So I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that I don't have office loaded on my computer. Now I have another laptop, with office that I loaded this project on, and it works fine. So do I have to load office on this computer, or can I just reference something?

I'm using old DAO 3.6 to connect Access database (with mde extension). App works fine on XP and on Win7/Vista when UAC is low/disabled. But when UAC is on I get following error: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'C:ProgramDatacompanydb.mde'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. [code]

I have a WinForms application that I have taken over support for and it was build using Visual Studio 2005 with VB.Net. The application makes use of an Access database. It runs fine when it is installed as a standalone application, but the install cd for the application also allows for a network install and this is where I am currently encountering issues.
To test the network install I created a folder on my server (Windows Server 2003 SP2) and copied the Access database to this folder. I created a share for this folder and gave everyone full permissions to the share. Then on the workstation I installed the application and gave the path to the database as follows:
\myservermysharemydb.mdb
(The install steps here are as per the instructions given on the installation cd)The workstation that I installed it on is Windows 7 Ultimate. When I run the application, I get the error message given in the title when the application tries to read the database file. I have confirmed that I am able to write to the shared folder on the server, so I don't think this is a permissions issue. Also, the database file is not in use at all, so it is definitely not opened exclusively.
UPDATE:I have tested the workstation installation on a computer with a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 and it is able to access the database file without a problem. So it seems that this error that I am getting is somehow specific to Windows 7. Is there maybe a known issue with Oledb drivers on Windows 7? My version of Windows 7, btw is 32 bit.

View 2 RepliesI have a program that reads data from excel.
I use:Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop as well as a Reference from the "COM" tab called "Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library"
I built my program then copied the .exe from the inDebug folder to a location on my company's server. I then double clicked the .exe and it ran as I expected it would. My boss then tried (from another computer) and he gets this error:See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

When I look at a file on my hard disk, e.g. test.csv, when I look at the Properties of the file, it is officially known as, "Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values File", and file types of .pdf are listed as "Adobe Acrobat Document", etc. etc. All of this information can be seen in Windows Explorer too when my folders are displayed by Details. How do you get at this "type of file" information with .NET?
View 2 RepliesBasically I've coded an Excel 2007 project in VB.NET 2010 that allows you to create charts with a fair amount of interactivity. I want the user to be able to save and reopen this workbook and still have that interactivity in any already-created charts, so they don't have to re-create them.
When I create the charts, I use Sheet1.Controls.AddChart(...), which returns a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Chart with which I can handle events and such. However, when I reopen the file and look through the Sheet1.Controls collection, there are no Chart objects. Accessing the charts through Sheet1.ChartObjects.Chart gives me Interop Charts, when I need the Tools Charts.
this is my code for adding users in my database but it has an error on the INSERT INTO statement.here is the error: Microsoft office access database engine: syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.

How do i make it that when i hit a button file dialog opens and i can select a text file from my computer
then output the text file into listbox1.text
I need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

i have this, but i'm not to sure how to write to the .txt file i know i need to use a for each to loop the contents of the list view
code snippet that would allow a progress bar to track the input of a text file? Normally I would not bother with this, but the text files are > 10,000 lines long, which is noticable even on a fast machine. The number of lines is variable, so I would assume that one would not use a fixed value to calculate when the progress bar goes 100%.
