Is there any possibility to access directly from a Windows form created in VB.net a protected Excel file? I mean, that the password for opening xls file to be stored in VB.net Windows form. I also have the same problem for a Microsoft Access protected file.

I've a windows form application which opens an Excel file and do some actions and save it as another file. All this is working perfect in windows forms. When I copy the same code and paste it in a windows service, then it is not possible to open the file even.

I know I can handle these events in VBA code in Word/Excel. However if the code is disabled the handling does not occur. I'm currently doing a project that includes access 2010 My question will be what driver can I use for an access 2010 *.accdb type file? For a *.mdb it works perfectly well with

But, when I changed the mbd to accdb:

View 1 RepliesI have this weird issue:I developed an application with a sequence like this login form -> mainform (=mdi parent) --> some functionform (mdi-child)--> report form
The reportform contains a reportviewer and will display different dataset queries depending on the state of some radio buttons which are located on the previous form ('some function form'). When I run the project directly from the 'some function form' (set startup form for project) things work great. The report shows the correct data depending on choices made on the previous form.But....when I run the project all the way from login and mainform it doesn't work. Seems like the choices made on the "some function form' are not coming through to the report form.

View 1 RepliesI have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. View 2 RepliesWhen I look at a file on my hard disk, e.g. test.csv, when I look at the Properties of the file, it is officially known as, "Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values File", and file types of .pdf are listed as "Adobe Acrobat Document", etc. etc. All of this information can be seen in Windows Explorer too when my folders are displayed by Details. How do you get at this "type of file" information with .NET?
View 2 RepliesBasically I've coded an Excel 2007 project in VB.NET 2010 that allows you to create charts with a fair amount of interactivity. I want the user to be able to save and reopen this workbook and still have that interactivity in any already-created charts, so they don't have to re-create them.
When I create the charts, I use Sheet1.Controls.AddChart(...), which returns a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Chart with which I can handle events and such. However, when I reopen the file and look through the Sheet1.Controls collection, there are no Chart objects. Accessing the charts through Sheet1.ChartObjects.Chart gives me Interop Charts, when I need the Tools Charts.
Using OpenFiledialog I can access a file. Is there a way that I can include a specific file in the code? This would allow me to access the file directly without the selection process and the application would always use that same file.
