I'm looking for the most efficient way to query an Access table from VB.Net. I think throughout the life of a run I'm going to need to query the table ~1,000,000 times. I'm using Access 2003 to hold my data. What I've been doing so far is this:

I would like to create Shared add-in that works with Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. I've found nice article that provides step by step instruction for creating shared add-in for Word: [URL] I've followed instructions and it worked. However, I am looking for a way to create one add-in that works with Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, not only Word. I didn't find any reference on the WEB.
View 7 RepliesI'm attempting to create and populate a table in a new Microsoft Access (Jet) database using VB.Net 2008 Express under Windows XP Pro SP3. The database and table are being created properly, but loading the table proceeds VERY slowly. When I am loading the table, no complicating factors that might impact performance, such as indexes or table relationships have been defined. The table to be loaded is made up of relatively short rows consisting of three single byte columns, and one (four byte) integer column. I am loading approximately 16 million rows, and this is literally taking hours, while the same data can be interactively imported into Microsoft Access from a .csv file in minutes. I am trying to batch load the rows, 64K rows at a time, in order to avoid the overhead of individually transacting/committing each row individually, but suspect that I must not be doing something right. Key code that I am using for this process is provided below.

I have an access database called BKWThermDB1. Within than I have a table called THERMOWELL_DATA. within this table I have a column called QuoteNumber. All I want to do is search that column for an existing number so I can let the user know that this number already exists and to create a different number. View 4 RepliesBasically I've coded an Excel 2007 project in VB.NET 2010 that allows you to create charts with a fair amount of interactivity. I want the user to be able to save and reopen this workbook and still have that interactivity in any already-created charts, so they don't have to re-create them.
When I create the charts, I use Sheet1.Controls.AddChart(...), which returns a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Chart with which I can handle events and such. However, when I reopen the file and look through the Sheet1.Controls collection, there are no Chart objects. Accessing the charts through Sheet1.ChartObjects.Chart gives me Interop Charts, when I need the Tools Charts.

View 7 RepliesI'm currently doing a project that includes access 2010 My question will be what driver can I use for an access 2010 *.accdb type file? For a *.mdb it works perfectly well with
ConnString ="Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};Dbq=" & Application.StartupPath & "\CITSDB.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=123;"
But, when I changed the mbd to accdb:
ConnString ="Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.accdb)};Dbq=" & Application.StartupPath & "\CITSDB.accdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=123;"
It resulted in errors:
ERROR[HY000][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Could not find file '(unknown)'.
ERROR[IM006][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]SQLSetConnetAttr failed
ERROR[HY000][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Could not find file '(unknown)'
And then it shows me that my code for
If dsLogin.Tables(0).Rows.Count = 1 Then
IndexOutOfRangeException was unhandled
Cannot find table 0
I knew it must be the driver but I don't know what accdb driver I can use for the connstring.
