Oct 15, 2011
I'm doing a search option in my system where if your searching for a entry even if you didnt typed the whole word, all of the entry that contains the letters that you have typed will appear, well i really cant explain it but it goes like this if i have entries:
reserve,reservoir,restaurant,jaded,mend,feed in my database and the searcher typed "res" all the word containing res will appear. i know it has something to do with the like parameter but i just cant do the code right.

I was just wondering if you could view the items on a connected Zune device (such as the Zune HD or any of the others. (4GB, etc.))Also, possibly listen to the songs / watch the videos on it with the Windows Media Player codec in the program, and view the pictures in a PictureBox? Is this possible at all? Can I at least view the items? Or is this strictly forbidden?

i am wondering if it is possible to get the source code for the following:
1. use vb.net code to set on/off primary key when connected to Access database
2. update a particular data.
for e.g: hostname: AES-19 *use source code to check data in Microsoft Access database
if hostname is new, insert into Access. if hostname already exist, update into Access
*so that i will not have duplicate data in Access.

I have a windows app that has a bindingNavigator connected to BindingSource that connects to an Access database. I am manually adding a record to the underlying database using an OLEDBConnection/command (cloning the current record). The insert into the database works fine, what I am not sure on how to do is force the bindingNavigatgor to refresh and read the new record and refelect it in the record count/next/previous buttons.Jack

On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=True(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Connected")
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=False(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Not Connected")

I have a DataSet with a DataTable that has several numeric columns of Data. The numeric data is composed of distances given in U.S. Standard units. I currently have my ComboBoxes set up and working, but I need to expand on what I currently have in two ways.I need to be able to convert the Decimal numbers in my data column being displayed to Fractions, is there a way to do this and maintain databinding? In this case its the Display Member of the data source...I need to be able to display my drop down options in different sets of units... I've written Unit Conversion classes to help take care of this, but I don't know if I can somehow do this as well and maintain databinding? I'd like to convert the units on the display members as well...
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectionChangeCommitted
Select Case ComboBox1.SelectedItem
[code]....
What is the best approach for using ComboBoxes when dealing with issues such as displaying fractions and units...

I have this code to retrieve a record to fill out a tooltip when the user's mouse enters a cell of a datagridview.
Dim dacmt As OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter
Dim con As OleDbConnection
Dim sql As String
[Code]....
This takes way too long for the tooltip to display. So, I created a query in the Access database that takes a parameter of the first field for the record you want.
How do I connect to just the query and send the parameter to it?
I am thinking this might be a quicker way to get the data for the tooltip. But then again, maybe not.

I have a form showing a datagrid that is filled with info from an Access database table. The table only has 3 fields: two of them are string type and the third one is boolean. The first String type field is also the primary key (this field is called "clave"). This datagrid is supposed to let the user select one of the rows and then click on a button to delete that row. This dataset contains data for every month in every year from 2010 to 2015. With this dataset I am populating a graphic but my problem is that I want to select the year and create graphic for one year.I do not know how to insert a parameter in the dataset. In sql is very easy by in Access is different and if I try to put something like ...' where year_column=@year_parameter' I receive an error.

I am trying to do an insert into a table called Policy. I keep getting an error that says parameter @Split has no default value. To try and resolve the problem, I set the default value of the split field (of type text) in the Policy table to "0" in Access 2007. I am passing in the value of a string "0" into the parameter before the insert statement executes.
Dim connection As OleDbConnection = PaulMeadeInsuranceDB.GetConnection
Dim insertcommand2 As New OleDbCommand(insertStatement2, connection)
connection.Open()

I'm writing small VB.Net app which should build reports based on data gathered from some external MDB-files (Access 2007).
It was planned that this app will use parametrized SQL queries to collect data from DBs.
One of the parameters for these queries is path to the external MDB-file.
Here goes sample code:
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:TempTemp.mdb;")
conn.Open()
[Code]....
Looks simple but doesn't works. After launch my app throws following exception - System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Disk or network error.
Have spent a whole day to make it work with no success. What have I done wrong?
