Using Xpath To Retrieve The Text Content Of An Element?
Feb 15, 2011
I have been at it for few weeks now and just learning XML and VB but seems like I hit a road block. I tried a few different attempts at doing this and I have no problem displaying the XML file on a webpage using the xpathnavigator class. But then i needed to format into an html table so i took another route and just added the xmldatasource with a formview. So here is my code for that
I need Xpath of the "element" in above XML using VB.Net NameSpace Manager For the "body" node i have done and its working but i couldnt do the same to "element":
dim bodynode as XMLNode=XML.SelectSingleNode(//ns:body,nsmngr)
where "nsmngr" is the namespacemanger created by me and "ns" is the name space of the "parent node" (which the "body" node inherits) added to the namespace manager as "ns"
I can not properly use the HTTP AGILITY package PACK, for example, wanting to retrieve the address of the image contained in the "style", I would like to know if someone suggests me to use xpath. CODE HTML
I have only recently discovered the world of fetching online data using XML functions in VB.NET and it has been working well so far. Unfortunately I have hit a hurdle and am unsure as to how I should proceed. Until now I have been working with simple XML files where there was only 1 value to retrieve with a specific XML element path. Now I have an XML which looks like this (apostrophes to represent indentation):
How to retrieve the absolute coordinates of an HTML or CSS element from the webbrowser control using Visual Basic? I am using VB 2008 Express Edition. I would like to be able to display the control in my application and then using the HTML Document Object Model (I guess?!) get the X and Y coordinates (top, left, bottom, right) of a DIV or other HTML tag.
I' successfully created a project fully functional using access database. I've read about SQL connection on VB .net. how to save three text boxes into three fields in excel and a way to retrieve it if I want.
My goal is to just select the 2nd one, the <span> tag and am not sure why <p> tag is also being selected. If it selects <p>, but why wouldn't it also select the <strong> or <a>, and why not the <table> or <td> that contain the <p>?
Does anyone have any suggestions how I might store the contents of a RichTextBox that also includes images to a MSSQL 2005 database?I suppose a possible answer to this would be to convert the entire content of the RichTextBox to a Byte Array, and then insert the array as a varbinary(max) datatype. But how do I convert the content ?
I am trying to implement a webservice but I am receiving this error :Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.The request failed with the error message:Quote:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
For the following XML: <NET ID="10.10.10.10, 255.255.255.0" />I need to replace the text 10.10.10.10, 255.255.255.0 with 192.9.1.1, 255.0.0.0 by VB + DOM script so the final line in the XML should be <NET ID="192.9.1.1, 255.0.0.0" />
I have a number of rewrite rules for a lot of things that I did in IIS7, like removing trailing slashes, canonnical URLs, lowercase lettering, and such. IIS altered my web.config, and everything works fine on the website, like it should. But in the Visual Studio web.config, the opening < rewrite > statement is underlined in blue, and at the bottom of VS, it says that the element 'system.webServer' has invalid child element 'rewrite'. But this is how IIS made it. I didn't do this manually. Should I be concerned with this VS error, or should I just leave as be, since it's working how it should work? Here's an example of my web.config:
I would like to bind the text field of a textbox to an element in an instance of a structure that I've created in a class module. When I try to create a Data Source using an OBJECT type, all I see in the tree is the name of the structure, not the instance I've created. If I select the structure anyway, the Data Sources tree does show the name of the structure and the element I'm interested in. How do I bind to a specific instance?
My app is using htmlagility pack. As of right now I can get all the input elements on a form. The problem is that I am getting ALL the input elements by ID. I am trying to narrow it down to only give me input elements of a form by ID that contain exact inner text labels before each input element.
I am Trying To Read Some Text From A Post "Text Area" On A Webpage, But I Also Want It To Paste Into My Textbox In Clear Text And Not The Html Source.
This Is My Code So Far: Private Sub ButtonItem1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ButtonItem1.Click WebBrowser1.Navigate("[URL]") TextBoxX1.Text = WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("post_message_1594").GetAttribute("Valve").ToString End Sub
Is there a way to control the way a browser behaves such as if I click on this link it doesn't navigate to that link but instead show me the source code behind that button?
I need to randomly pick an element from an array and I can only use that element three times,I can randomly pick the element but how do I go about only using it three times.
I am building a vb.net application with VS2010. The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]
I've been asked to validate the content of a text box to make sure it's only alphanumeric. Now I have 2 question on this from you experts:
1. alphanumeric value needs to start with alpha or it can start with numbers also?
2. I wrote the following code to test my entry but it's somewhere wrong I cannot understand! How can I go through each character to make sure it's alphanumeric?
I'm creating <div>'s and appending them to a literal's text property. I have added a <a> element to the text so that the user can click on a specific element. How can I tie that to a function to handle the event in the codebehind (vb.net) ?
Example of my Literal.Text ...
For Each row As DataRow In oDataTable.Rows MyLiteral.Text &= "<div style='font-size: 8.25px; text-transform:uppercase; padding:3px; background: #FF8C00; border: 1px solid #000; margin: 0 5px 0 5px; display:inline-block; float: left;'>" _ & row.Item("LastName") & " | <a href='#?"& row.Item("ID") & "' style='color: #000;' >X</a></div>" Next
So the above code I want to somehow allow the user to click the X link and then it would remove that person.
I need to app to go through all the elements <div class="address"> and check the length of the text inside it. if its less than or equal to 2, then it needs to skip the following line and check the next <div class="address">Here is my code:
Dim content As String = "" Dim web As New HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlWeb Dim doc As New HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument() doc.Load(WebBrowser1.DocumentStream) 'this is where I need to check if text inside divclass="address" is <= 2 Dim hnc As HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlNodeCollection = doc.DocumentNode.SelectNodes("//div[@class='address']/preceding-sibling::h3[@class='listingTitleLine']")
I have been doing well and also I am a noob I know it and you know it a lot has started making sense and I am evening figuring new things out without using Google but of course I have hit another snag in my program so here goes
I am waiting for an email to arrive (the page automatically refreshes) and then I want to click the link (I do not need to click to open the email or anything like that) I also have the code to click and navigate to the address reason being it was the only way I could figure out how to stop it opening in a new window on IE
So my only problem is I need a way to check every x seconds for the element and then if its there proceed with my code and if its not wait and then check again or however this is done in VB.If this is not the way its done please point me in the right direction the code I am using to find and then navigate to the link is
Dim emailpageelements As HtmlElementCollection = WebBrowser2.Document.GetElementsByTagName("a") For Each emailver As HtmlElement In emailpageelements If InStr(emailver.InnerHtml, "https://twitter.com/account/confirm_email/") Then WebBrowser1.Navigate(emailver.InnerText)
I am trying to take the amount entered in a text box and save that to a sql database in decimal format. The field in the table is set as decimal 7,2
The amount a user inputs is save to the table. However it rounds the decimal amount. eg. 10.55 saved as 11.00 & 10.45 saved as 10.00 I'm using visual studio 2010 and vb.net
The system must read the text file serch for the word 'top' and coby the specic content below 'top'. 'top' is the title of the specific section. Now i can read and serch for the word then i dont know how to copy the the below portion of 'top'.This is my code .Dim File As String = "c:wires.txt" ' file name that suppose to read
Private Sub CheckFile(ByVal theFile As String) Dim myFileChecker As FileStream = New FileStream(File, FileMode.OpenOrCreate) myFileChecker.Close()[code]......
