Using The GDI (DrawString) To Draw Reversed (negative) Text
Mar 1, 2012
how to use DrawString (or any other method) to draw text that's reversed? For example, instead of having black text over a background image, you draw a black filled rectangle over the image, and then use DrawString to "punch through" the black rectangle exposing the image underneath.
I got this code to create textstring and make it center in the rectangle. The probleam that I faced is, it make the text only center for the hight rectangle( as you see in the pic). How can I make it center for both width and height?.
Dim drawString As [String] = "Sample Text" ' Create font and brush. Dim drawFont As New Font("Arial", 16)
I am using drawstring with the DrawMode set to OwnerDrawFixed on a tab control. The Tabs have a alignment set to left, but the text is displayed in a horizontal orientation. I would like to change the orientation to vertical. I am expecting this to be simple, but can not seem to find the correct input parameters for drawstring.
i am using the DrawString Method to insert a Text on an Image. But i am not able to center it on the image. How could i do that? Thats my code:
Dim g As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(destBitmap) g.InterpolationMode = Drawing2D.InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic g.PixelOffsetMode = Drawing2D.PixelOffsetMode.HighQuality
I am using the e.graphics.drawstring to print labels and textboxes. One of the labels is "#". Whenever I print, although it is centered in its label on the screen, the text in the label aligns to the left. Is there a way to get it to center? This is happening with all my textboxes and labels.
So, what I've got is a picturebox and a textbox, I got some code to put text into a picturebox so I could better understand how it works, but what I don't understand is how to put the text on top of the image that is in the picturebox, can anyone tell me how to do that? Here's the code
Im assuming this is because of the DPI of the png, but how do i correct this?the 72DPI is how it should look.. small and correct (its the time)the 300DPI is obviously a bit too big LOL
vb Dim f As Font = New Font("Arial", 10, FontStyle.Bold) Using sf As New StringFormat()
I have a routine that creates a report which includes text and graphics. When I print to a PDF or printer the output looks great. When I draw the report on an image to save as a PNG, GIF, JPEG, etc. it does not look as good and I understand that is related to the 96 dpi native resolution. However, I made some modifications, and even though the graphics part of the image looks better, the text does not look as good as the PDF. I am creating the image using 300 dpi and text rendering is set at the highest quality.
I draw text (comment on item in an invoice ) inside a rectangle.
[Code]...
I have no problem, the text appear on several lines and it is well wrapped. But if the text is too long to be drawn inside the rectangle, I need to draw the text not drawn in another rectangle (on another page). How can I know the text not drawn in the first rectangle ? I think it is more difficult to use MeasureString because the text is wrapped.
WRITE A PROGRAM THAT TAKES AN INTEGER VALUE AND RETURNS WITH ITS DIGITS REVERSED.. ex. input 7631 output: 1367POSITIVE NUMBER ONLY...Could you guys give me a hint on what i'm supposed to do here?
In Mastering VB2010 on arrays, a command is show indicating the reversed contents of an array can be assigned to another array. ReversedArray = System.Array.Reverse(ArrayName)
I can't get this to work and part of the problem is how to set up (dim) the ReversedArray. When I enter this I get a squiggly line under the right side of the equation and an error message saying no data is produced by the expression.
I get the same error with a copy command: CopiedName = System.Array.Copy(Name, CopiedName, 10) How do I set up working code to reverse or copy the contents of an array?
Im working a lot with normal strings and during my development process strings with lengts of 10.000+ characters are being processes which makes it a my application run slower. Is it possible to shorten the length of any of string, in a way in which it also can be reversed?
I have a need to verify SSN's that are entered based on a reserved range (these are used for advertising and will never become valid). The input is from a masked text box formatted as 000-00-0000. I may be wrong, but I figured the most logical method would be to remove the hyphens and convert the string to an integer, then compare the starting point and end point of the range.
'Valid SSNs 'Currently, a valid SSN cannot have an area number between 734 and 749, or above 772, the highest area number which the Social Security Administration has allocated. This should not be confused with Tax Identification Numbers which include additional area numbers. [Code] .....
I discovered that java uses a reversed way of storing data. For example, the integer value 2 has the following byte values:
In "Windows" format: [2] [0] [0] [0] In "Java" format: [0] [0] [0] [2]
The binary readers of both languages seem to use the same different format. Now my question: What is the easiest way to read binary values (Integer, Single, etc.) in VB .NET from a java formatted file? I already made functions like these:
I've created a program that allows a user to input numbers and then outputs the highest and lowest number when the user is done (the user indicates this by using a sentinel value of -99). My only problem is that it keeps putting out the numbers reversed (largest as smallest and vice versa).
The code is below. Module Module1 Sub Main() 'Declare Variables Dim number, smallestNumber, largestNumber As Integer 'Get numbers from user [Code] .....
Is it a no-no to have a module within a module like I do there? So far there is no mention of such in the book but I can't find an example of it happening yet either? The instructor wants modules to perform the input and return of information and the only way I could figure out it doing both of those things (rather than using the main module for user input) was to call the module that figures hi/lo within the module that asks for the numbers. I'm really unsure on this part.
I have made a custom control and the only change to the interface is that its a different color. Whenever the user moves their mouse over the control some white text fades in in the middle of the user control. Then after a few seconds the text fades out. The text is actually the location of the cursor but I have that figured out.
I'm making a front end to dvdauthor.I have a picturebox which holds the menu background. In order to draw a textbutton on the background image I store the image in a hidden picturebox. So the text doesn't get drawn to the visible background.
Dim ctl As Control For Each c As Control In pbMenu1.Controls If c.GetType() Is GetType(TextBtn) Then[code]...
This works the first time. But if I hit save again it writes the text to the background image on pbMenu1.
I'm trying to draw aero-styled glowing text in a .NET StatusStrip with a DrawThemeTextEx class I found. This is my current code which I use as a renderer for the StatusStrip:
I have some lines drawn in many different directions (2D y 3D enviroments). Is there any way to draw text oriented along the direction of each of these lines? It was an easy task in former versions of Visual Basic, but now it looks like a very tough -almost impossible- mission.
In developing a flash-based memory manager, I need to be able to view large quantities of data. With my eyes and monitor resolution, I can read hand-drawn 3x5 letters on a 4x6 matrix without too much difficulty, but none of the system TrueType fonts render optimally at that size. I've tried writing code to draw font shapes to off-screen bitmaps, and then use DrawImage to copy those bitmaps to the screen, but I can't get good performance. This is for development, not production, so performance doesn't have to be absolutely optimal, but I don't want to spend too long waiting for screens of data to refresh.
What would be the best way of either making .net display a font which is pixel-perfect what I want, or else building a bitmap out of lots of little pieces quickly? I'm using vb.net, so I can't simply generate a bitmap as a byte array and pass that to the Bitmap constructor unless someone can show me how to convert an array into an IntPtr.
I want to draw a text with 32 bit transparency on a graphics object. When I try, I only get black color in the result.
If I try to draw a line with the same semitransparent color, it works perfectly.
I have this code:
lBitmap As New Bitmap(32, 32, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb) lGraphic As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(lBitmap) lGraphic.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality
[Code]...
I was thinking it may be that SolidBrush does not support transparency, but I found a predefined brush named Transparent (Brushes.Transparent) that was a SolidBrush when I looked at it in debug. I tried to use Brushes.Transparent as the brush when drawing the text, and it was successfully not showing at all. That means I get full transparency to work, but not partial transparency.
I had following coding to make form have aero glass effect. but the text is become transparent too when i run it. how to make the text become no transparent? Thnx

I have an application that makes a drawing with measurements both horisontal and vertical. I like to get the vertical measurements to be in direction down-up, not up-down direction as StringFormatFlags.DirectionVertical does. All the measuretexts are drawn to a graphics path. Because that path includes all measures at different locations I canīt TransformRotate that path, the text should be rotated before it is passed to the graphics path, or ? It would be so nice if it would be a StringFormatFlags.DirectionVerticalUp to handle it.
