VS 2005 Enumerating Items In Outlook Mailbox?

I need to enumerate all the items in an email inbox. However, this code fails
For Each MI As Outlook.MailItem In folderToProcess.Items

It fails whenever it comes across an item that ISN'T an email (e.g. a meeting request). I've spent the last hour or so trying to find a way of enumerating every item no matter its type. So far all I've come up with is to use the base Object type and then work from there but that's Late Binding and I'd prefer to avoid it if possible.
Has anyone come across this problem before? How can I determine what type of Outlook item it is during enumeration?

We're trying to access the Sent Items folder in Outlook 2007 (using Exchange) but the test for TypeOf(i) Is Outlook.MailItem in the below code snippet always returns False.We know we have the right folder because a test for items.Count returns the correct number of mail items.Inbox messages are fine. If we change the folder from olFolderSentMail to olFolderInbox the test for TypeOf(i) Is Outlook.MailItem passes and it's quite happy to show us the Subject.

I have an Oulook AddIn project to which I would like to add a functionality to be able to drag an email item into a folder in Outlook's Main Folder Pane. I would like to have the folder in which an item is dropped into to recognige the new item and pop up a message.
I would like to know what events to use to achiev this task.

I am using Outlook 2003, VB 2008 and Win XP.I am storing user ID's in the User1 field of the Outlook Address Book. This is working find I want to Find all Address Book items with a value in User1 [code]This will find an Address Book item, even if the User1 field is not blank. I'm having trouble coding some new items into a program of mine. The program loops through you Inbox looking for emails that are UNREAD and have a certain subject line. The subject line in this case, is going to search for: "FAX TO: ###########" (actually, it just searches for FAX TO). Next step, I need the selected email to be FORWARDED to the fax number in the subject line - including attachments. In my code - I've already got the message selected - but I can't figure out how to programmatically forward it? I need explicit code help with the following:
1) Check to make sure there are 10 digits in the original subject line. If not - bail out and ignore that message.
2) Trim the subject line and save the phone number to a string
3) Forward the message (plus attachments) to the [URL]
I'm assuming I'll need to create a new Outlook.MailItem, but I'm not sure if I need to. Is there just some code I'm missing so I don't have to COPY the contents of the current MailItem to a new one.

I would like to automatically create an Outlook rule (move email containing something in subject to folder xyz) but dont know how to achieve this. Of course I can create the rule and export it to a .rwz file. This file can be imported manually, but how can I import it automatically?
Can I import a rule through my VSTO 2005 Outlook (2003) Addin? Or can I create the rule from within this addin?

Why is it the appointment is created in the "Deleted Items" folder? How do i avoid the appointment created in the "Deleted Items" folder? I was looking for a way to enumerate String types in (vb).NET, but .NET enums only accept numeric type values.
The first alternative I came across was to create a dictionary of my enum values and the string I want to return. This worked, but was hard to maintain because if you changed the enum you would have to remember to also change the dictionary.
The second alternative was to set field attributes on each enum member, and retrieve it using reflection. Surely enough this worked aswell and also solved the maintenance problem, but it uses reflection and I've always read that using reflection should be a last resort thing.
So I started thinking and I came up with this: every ASCII character can be represented as a hexadecimal value, and you can assign hexadecimal values to enum members. You could get rid of the attributes, assign the hexadecimal values to the enum members. Then, when you need the text value, convert the value to a byte array and use System.Text.Encodings.ASCII.GetString(enumMemberBytes) to get the string value.
Now speaking out of experience, anything I come up with is usually either flawed or just plain wrong. Is there any reason not to do it like that?
As pointed out by David W, enum member values are limited in length, depending on the underlying type (integer by default). So yes, I believe my method works but you are limited to characters in the ASCII table, with a maximum length of 4 or 8 characters using integers or longs respectively.

In my mailbox, google search, etc when we enter 2-3 chars all words starting with those chars come in like a pop up window, we select from that list and the text is displayed in the text box. Same happens in th To/CC/Bcc text fields, we get name and email of our mailbox. I want to implement the same in a form of my MDI application. I want is 2 values same like name, email and on selecting any from the list, it should be displayed in respective text fields. But I haveno clue how to implement this in VB.NET.
how to implement it. I will require the same in more than 1 forms, so is it possible to use Write Once and Use Many times. Atleast 2-3 times is the same data but in differnet forms.

I'm having trouble with program I'm writing for work. It's basically a GUI for some remote management scripts I wrote a while back.I have a listbox (listbox1) to which loads a list of computers from active directory, which works perfectly and quickly.The problem is that I also want to add to another listbox (listbox2) a list of machines 'currently active' on the network. I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.
