i have a textbox that i want to format the value and i placed it in the Validated event.. it works ok when a user enters a value but when data is being loaded from database, it doesn't format.

I place this in text changed event and I have a problem implementing it, because the date conversion will not take place until the data is loaded. The second part works but not the first(Date) part.
I can create a button and use its click event to format the text boxes just fine, however i wanted the text boxes to be formatted on the fly . The problem is no matter where i call the function the date conversion wont work.

I have three tables in SQL server which I would like to show and access on a form. Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
I have loaded the rows data of a datagridview into a datatable object but I am not aware how to show them in crystal report.
View 3 RepliesI have a database that dynamically loads from Access into a datagridview. I have to enter data manually into one column in this datagridview. I need to be able to perform calculations to this data, for example I need to sum the data in this column, sqaure it and substract it from individual sqaures of the data in the cells. I should be able to sum it sum(22,33,44,53,67,23)^2-sum(22^2,33^2,...23^2). The number of columns keep changing depending on the database I choose to load, so I need to code this dynamically too. I am not really a VB person. I did the same in excel using Visual Basic and I am trying to do it in this Visual Basic environment.I built a tool in excel(VBA) that do some statistical calculations and data analysis and I am trying to build the same in Visual Basic.
View 10 RepliesI have a project with many forms on it, some of them are dialog forms, some of them are mdi children of my master form. What I need to do is when a user press the ESC button on his keyboard to dispose the form that is working on. either is mdi or dialog form. I know that I can use the event of the form key down and then check the key code if is the esc to dispose the form, but this is not I looking for since I will have to pass from all my forms and create that event. Is there any other way when my master form is load to create my own event for any form load event? And trigger it from there to assigne my custom code for ESC key. So I will not have to pass from all the forms to create that event.

View 11 RepliesI have two data tables within my data set that are loaded onto my form on form_load using statements written in code (not the designer. When I change a value for the first table via a text box the change is made to the data set. But when I try the same for the second table, the change doesn't remain in the data set when I switch to a different company and come back. I query the second table using the primary key of the first table but no code is needed when I change the values for the first table so I don't understand why the same doesn't work for the second when I change a value via a data-bound text box....

I am using VB 2008 Express to connect to an Access 2007 database. I have a combo box that is populated by the database. When I used the Access report VBA, I used the AfterUpdate() event to calculate a sum and place the results in a text box. I need to know how to do the same operation in VB 2008 Express using the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combo box.
The combo box is called "cboYearMonth" and is populated by my database, this is working correctly.

The concept is that a file that'll work more-or-less like a database. One can add, edit, view, delete and query data to and from the file. The file, either cannot be opened directly or data inside the file should be in some encrypted form so that even if the file is opened no one can comprehend it. in my form..there's a couple of textboxes..these textboxes display data from the database using databinding method..

i write a program using vb 2005. This program collects data from Flight Simulator 2004 (altitude, speed, etc). These data should be uploaded periodically (every 10 secs) to a database which is installed to my website. The problem is that my hosting provider doesn't allow remote access to the database. Is there any way to put that data into the database?
ps. The strange with all the above is that i run a shareware program that can upload data collected from the flight to my database by simply adding the database name, user ir and password.
